This is why I stopped watching Joe Rogan after he interviewed Chuck Palahniuk who wrote fight club, so one of the best dark humour writers around and all Joe wanted him to talk about was censorship, but Chuck knows it's no worse now than 2 decades ago and personnally for him as a ga y writer it was actually harder back then. At one point Chuck was telling a story of how he offended someone in an improv class he was at and Joe was like she should get over herself and Chuck a human being with emotions was like no I felt really bad, I tell jokes for people to laugh at, if people get upset especially the people you are telling the joke too, it's not a joke. Chuck was just too intelligent and empathetic for Rogan.

A lot of homo and transphobia comes from a place of complete ignorance and refusal to learn more about it. I'm queer myself but never met a trans person so when I was younger I had rather confused ideas about what it meant to be trans, so you know what I did? I asked trans people online, I started reading about gender research and about queer people throughout history. After doing that everything started making sense and it just seems logical to me. Yeah, there are very few (if any) topics that you can't joke about. It just has to actually be funny and original and preferably say something (though some silly absurdism can be fun from time to time). I think that's a big part of why trans people tend to write better trans jokes; they're speaking from their own experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly
