Did they forget that in one episode he gets stuck in some strange time loop thing and growing up without him makes Jake crazy. He is obbsssesd with rescuing his father, stops writting, allienats the woman who loved him and ends up commiting suicide because he decides he's the one holding his father in the time loop. So having him disappear again for any extended time will be bad for Jake, again.
@sertorrhenclegane Жыл бұрын
@@stuartjohnson5686Just because it happened in that one episode doesn't mean it will happen after the finale. The Jake from that episode (as well as that timeline) do not exist anymore. Jake didn't lose his father to some mad, spontaneous anomaly, he lost him to fate. In truth, he doesn't really lose him at all. Add on to the fact that Jake is now a grown man as opposed to a teenager, he'll probably have a better understanding of his father's destiny. He may not like it, but he'll probably understand it.

I’ve never liked the idea of Ezri becoming a Captain. I think that she would be better remaining as a Counselor. Not because I have anything against the character; I _like_ Ezri. My problem is that people seem to equate being a Captain with the greatest possible achievement. What little we see of Ezri shows her to be an outstanding Counselor. I have no doubt that she could easily achieve a position as Chief Counselor at any command, and possibly a position at Starfleet Headquarters running the entire Mental Health Division. But then I think the idea that there is only one counselor aboard any vessel or station is ridiculous. Counseling (or Mental Health) should be a section within the Medical Department, answering to the Chief Medical Officer and with the ability to go directly to the CO in certain situations. Their _direct_ counseling responsibilities should be only for the Command Staff (Including the Captain) and possibly special cases that subordinate counselors can’t handle (like, say, Lt Barkley). I think part of the point I’m trying to make is that having Ezri transfer to the Command Division minimizes the importance of what she does as a Counselor. Keeping her as a Counselor would not only develop the character in a more realistic direction, but it could also be used to develop the canonical structure of Starfleet Medical’s organization.

Yes. I can also see Alexander Roshenko mustering out of military service among the Klingons after the Dominion war (since war is obviously not his forte) to join Starfleet as their first Klingon counselor. I always rankled at the allegation that Data was unfit to hold a command position just as Klingons were unfit to be counselors. Alexander would be great at it! Granted, I can see him pioneering a distinctively Klingon-flavored therapy involving holodeck battles with one's inner demons (until the patient can get to the point of negotiating with them) that would be one for the books!

Also nothing wrong with just being a technical specialist - a counselor in this case. Not being a chief, supervisory, or other figure, just being a regular specialist who makes an impact and enjoys what they do. I know that episode in TNG where Picard tells Q how he's a dreary old man when Q changed the timeline, forcing Picard to rise up exclusively as a blue shirt scientist, but not everybody is cut out for a leadership position in charge of so many lives. Not many want it. Huge perks NOT being in charge of other people.

I just can't get behind Ezri and Bashir for any reason. Bashir's a twit. I can only picture Ezri mentally rolling her eyes whenever he opens his mouth, whereas Garak would tolerate him, because Bashir's twittiness amuses him, and he's good in bed. That's my head cannon, anyway. (Until Garak leaves Bashir for Loki of Asgard, but that's a whole other multiverse head cannon of mine. Heh.)

So many different versions of every character, I was reading about Dax on Wiki and they have the version of events in which Dax and Bashir break up, or that's the one I read anyway, very hard to keep track of all these different timelines/stories, good video for sure.

1) The novels were the "official continuations" of TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY, so are the true prime timeline (this includes spin-off novel series). 2) STO has been revealed to be 100% an alternate timeline. The creators have stated this as fact, and a novel in says the same. 3) CBS have created their own prime timeline (leaked during DISC season 1), and have made many continuity changes (history, ship designs, TOS uniforms before TOS, tech, etc). Thanks to CBS's messing around with the franchise, the true prime timeline of the novels has now been destroyed in the Coda Trilogy. Years of storylines and character developments have been washed away (beloved characters killed off, ships destroyed), and an opportunity to reveal CBS's shows as an alternative timeline has been wasted. I weep for what is happening to a beloved franchise.😢😭

I'm actually just finishing up the Star Trek: Coda trilogy which, as I understand it, is the official end of the book (Destiny) timeline, in order to make way for whatever gets cannonized in the new Trek shows. I've missed a lot of the Books, over the years. It wasn't until recently that I even realized they all share continuity (which is awesome, but daunting too).
@chrissonofpear13842 жыл бұрын
Yes, they started to share continuity after Insurrection came out, I think, with more and more books being tied together, beginning with a DS9 continuation (the Avatar duology, initially) and then TNG and Voyager getting full relaunches too, @ObsidianBlk . The first 'arc' culminated in the Destiny trilogy, teaming up several characters, and then into the Typhon Pact books, and The Fall series, plus various spinoffs. Cold Equations was another trilogy, plus the Section 31 books, and now it finally (sob) comes to a close.

I could have seen Worf head a new division of Starfleet. A non Section 31 unit. And while military in its scope, it often functions as a primary peacekeeping force, called when a starship is entering a potentially dangerous situation and requires a show of strength. However, it is also called upon to carry out special "missions" that are of interest to the Federation and it's allies. This division has an incredible heritage. It draws upon centuries of both Terran and Klingon Special Forces. It is a combination of Army Rangers/Seals/Green Beret/Delta Force and the Klingon Dahar masteries. They utilized very spartan, but VERY powerful and dangerous ships like the Enterprise E/G, the Defiant Advanced, and with recent upgrades to the venerable Bird of Prey and Vor'cha class battle cruisers, they have become Starfleet's most powerful force projection in its history. They are like the Targ and the Terran Lion. Stealthy and powerful predators. They are............The Shadow Legion. Starfleet Special Charter 42. The SSC is devoted to one purpose: "Speak softly, but carry a BIG stick". Wise words from former President Theodore Roosevelt of Old Earth. And with Captain Worf Roshenko of the House of Roshenko, House of Martok, Bane and slayer of the Duras Family, slayer of Gowron the Unwise and heir to the Chancellorship of the Klingon Empire, and Dahar Master commanding this unit, the Federation's enemies better behave, or be bested in the field of honor.

Even though he got the center seat of the Enterprise, the novel did Worf how he got it. Jean-Luc basically promoted him via text from Earth, no change of command ceremony or anything.

Given Star Trek from nearly the begining has had alternate universes and in TNG we see just... exactly what that means with Worf universe hopping (seriously that shot of all the enterprises is genuinely impressive) I'm fine with the books being their own timeline. Heck this isn't the first time that anscilliary media has been 'discanonized' from the prime timeline. See also the FASA tabletop games. So I mean.... Cool. We have our pick of the litter on events and portrayals.

On the one hand I still do not see Kira as Kai, but on the other, it must be recognized that in the series, she is more favored with the contact of the prophets (coming to be used by one of them, in the episode in which they face the Pagh wraith), as well as going to the past with one of the orbs. No doubt Kay Winn would have killed just a little bit of that divine experience.

On Kira Nerys, you left off Opaka... On ST: Online, the story has Kai Kira receive direction from the Prophets that it was time that Kai Opaka returned to Baior. I forget the details, but with the help of Dr. Julian Bashir, Kira returns to the planet where they were forced to leave Opaka and cures the condition which kept her there. Capt. Kira stepped aside to allow Opaka to return to Bajor as Kai, feeling that returning Bajor's 'True Kai' had been Prophet's Path for her and why she came to power to begin with.

The enterprise lol. Rom was still grand nagus, Jake became the writer he always dreamed of being, nog ended up being an admiral and one of the leaders of star fleet, garak becomes the leader of cardassia, doo came back and is once again constable after leaving the great link, there's alot of stories non Canon that are better than most series episodes.
