Very explicitly described. For the first time, someone was able to make me know the gait that accompanies walking and pain in the lower back can be traced to the cervical region! Thank you for this.

Also, sometimes they say leaning over a grocery basket can be a sign of spine issues. It relieves pressure from the spine to bend. Many different signs, some are emergencies like losing control of your bladder.

Thank you so much doctor for your video I now understand my MRI and I did not before. I am a patient and was given a copy of my MRI showing the spinal cord being impacted in 3 places by discs in the C spine and no CSF fluid visible at those sites. I now understand my numbness, pins and needles, clumsiness dropping things and falls and weird walking gate that people comment on... I also have a tremor in my hands - mostly left hand that people comment on too. Your video is the best I have watched... I hope you have kept well over the 9 years since posting this video.

My goodness have you had any treatment yet since getting your results? Isn’t awful that some doctors just don’t care enough to explain (in layman’s terms) results and to correlate what the patient is experiencing?! I too found this video VERY helpful in explaining my XRays & MRI…and I’ve seen 5 doctors & 3 PT who haven’t explained it this well!!!
@shantishanti1949 Жыл бұрын
@@nathaliegibson1032 I have found that Doctors egos get the better of them - they don’t think you will understand so don’t try - they also don’t respect each other and argue - this seems to be the norm in any science field. Re treatment not yet - it’s hard to get to see specialists over here. I see a neurologist in March they want to review my MRI but I believe they try to box you in. A sister with Parkinsonism is where I am sure the neurologist will head - it’s not Parkinsons it’s my neck and spinal chord. I hope you get help and answers yourself.

Thank you, everything described in this commentary is exactly what I am currently suffering, I am currently waiting for a surgery date. I had been fighting Kaiser for the past year and finally received a MRI which confirmed what was commented in this posting. It apparent that the doctors are told to brush off patients by using the arthritis card every time someone is in pain. I finally lost my shit and confronted them with an option of actually doing something, since I wasn't "Thriving" and receive the care I had been paying for all these years. Again, thank you.

This video was posted 3yrs ago, & was surprised by another recent comment besides myself. I have this condition at 4 levels in my Cervical Spinal cord and I wondered why my pinkie fingers always stick out. The 3mins spent with my Doc didn’t explain any of this, thank God for KZbin. I wish you peace on your journey back to health, never give up.

Thank you for a clear explanation. I have just been diagnosed with this after a fall 3 years ago. Took a long time for the diagnosis. I was told it was my fibromyalgia, then tendonitis, then bursitis, carpal tunnel etc. Finally a pain clinic doctor referred me to a neurologist and he saw something unusual on the MRI and ordered a total body nuclear bone scan and there it was. I am to see a Neuro surgeon who has developed a surgical technique to treat this. It is too close to the brain for other treatments, steroid injections etc. So many of my symptoms are explained by this.

I can feel it in the back of my neck when I try and walk up stairs. I have lost about a Third of my mobility on the left side of my body. My Left Index Finger and Thumb are completely numb and my nerve going all the way up my left arm is swollen.. Very High effort to move. I have lost the "bounce" in my step and cannot run anymore. My balance and complete control of my Bladder have been Compromised.. I know exactly where it is in my neck... i can feel the "electric shock" coming from that point in my neck every time I try and walk at a faster pace or like going up stairs, etc. The VA diagnosed me with a Cervical Spine Myelopathy and I'm just checking out what the Internet says about it. I have an appt. with the Neurosurgeon next month to discuss my options. Thank you for this Video.

Succinct, accurate and a great resource for clinicians and patients. I wonder if you have thought of having a parallel document to highlight the Sp, Se & PPV of the various clinical tests? I wonder if you have any references for gait disturbance PPV? It's the earliest sign in my opinion but I am struggling to find any published data.

Good video. I had surgery for this. I would have not known my spine was so jacked up except for the MRIs they told the story. I wouldn't have had MRIs had I not had hand pain which other tests showed negative results. Blood tests, carpal tunnel tests. I did have the Hoffman's test by the neurosurgeon which was positive, why it's not done earlier I don't understand, so easy flicking the finger for a positive sign.

Also had waves of odd sensations (no pain, but strange) had throughout the day, a few seconds to about a minute, doc never heard of that. After surgery that totally resolved. So I'm happy with the results. No spring chicken here, but thinking of going back to the gym (not too intense) to lose some weight and tone.

@SusanSmith-de4lm2 жыл бұрын
@@eramasnimohdzain4367 Everybody is different, best answer about how long recovery will be is from your doctor. I was very scared too before my surgery. I tried to keep busy not to think about it and prepare for afterward. Most people with this surgery should not bend, twist, or lift things (weight restrictions) again different from doctor to doctor. I was fused, three levels, but whatever surgery you have you should take it easy so your body can heal. So you may want to think about how to deal with that. They like you to walk to prevent blood clots. I had three months of restrictions. Not everyone wears a neck brace, but I did for three months. I still went out, adjusted for restrictions. The first week I had pain in my shoulder, hard to walk then. I could eat, talk, zero pain where incision was in front right after surgery. Stayed in hospital just one day, I felt good, but that was the drugs given to me. Hope your surgery goes as well and your recovery is quick.

I was misdiagnosed, misprescribed and generally teased with apathy. There is no help with myelopathy. At least I don't have pain but my life stopped when I turned 36. I'm 45 now. There is no one to help and this video was a waste of time.
