Dear Cesar I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I live in Sarajevo. I watched your show and I think you're a good man who helps dogs who are frightened and aggressive. In Sarajevo, a lot of stray dogs that roam the streets. Many of them aggressive attacking people. I agree with your theory that dogs are not to blame for their situation, but they are wrong because their owners. I know you've visited other continents and wants you to come to Bosnia. Bosnia is a small country in Europe in the area of the Adriatic Sea. I want to help these dogs because most people do not refer to dogs as living beings but as things that can throw off the street when they want. I have a dog and trying to establish the relationship that you have with your dogs. Advance thank Nenad from Sarajevo.

When we first got our current dog, I had learned from the past (and from Cesar) and I would frequently run my hand through his food while he was eating. Would also randomly just take it away and only give it back once he was calm and sitting properly. I literally only had to do that for a couple weeks, and he knew forever who controlled the resources. These little things seem so important with dogs.

I was so freaked out that I wouldn't feed him with the other two dogs. Then I remember you telling us that won't solve the problem. So I stayed calm and assertive and brought him in with the other two dogs to feed together. I made sure they all respected one another's space. Now I can feed them all together. Laura Schaeffer Dogs don't show you their belly if they're afraid of you. It's a sign of submission but with trust; wolves do exactly the same thing if their alpha has to correct them. It's one of a handful of behaviors that was not bred out of dogs.
@DoggyDogma10 жыл бұрын
SlayerZaraki Wow - you should probably look up a definition for submission. Wolves do this behavior to stop aggression from one of the breeding pair, dogs do this behaviour to stop an aggressor. The original logic behind an "Alpha Roll" was to intimidate the dog so that it wouldn't miss behave. In Junior's case, this is most likely a learned behavior due to being Alpha Rolled on numerous occasions. Cesar's lunging behaviour and bite hand, which preceded Junior hitting the ground, are most likely a cue for Junior to submit, Umm, you can all it trust if you need to, perhaps you see the same thing when a woman in an abusive relationship submits to her husband??? The original group who popularized the move in the 70's (Monks of New Skete) now warn people from doing it due to the risks and increased aggression from the dogs. Clinical Studies at University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine found that highest frequency of aggression occurred in response to aversive (or punishing) interventions, this included the use of an Alpha Roll. Now I know that I have used actual verifiable facts in my argument to you, which may result in some Cognitive Dissonance, so I look forward to your name calling. Perhaps, as a final suggestion, you could read a dog training book that hasn't been written by Cesar Millan - you could actually learn about dogs and dog behaviour that way.

What a transformation! Hard to believe Holly nearly took Cesar's hand before her re-hab. The owners did the right thing giving her to Cesar, saving their babies; and Holly, from a life of misery When my dog was an 8 week old puppy I sat with my fingers around her bowl and ate a (human!!) biscuit. Then I allowed her to eat still with my fingers just inside the bowl. I did this for a few weeks, just sat calm and quiet till she finished, then praised her with my voice and a tickle on her chest. I NEVER left the bowl on the floor all day as some do. I took it away ( my dog never left anything, she was a good eater!!🙂) The bowl was washed and put away till the next meal. I never once had food aggression and she even used to sit right beside me when she was allowed a dog-bone treat!! In all her 11 years there was never a growl, snarl, or snapping. That's because I started from day ONE, She was never punished, teased or tormented, the trust and the bond we had was second to none. I'll always treasure our memories, she truly was a wonderful girl 💓
