A Letter from the Rainbow Bridge Hi, Mom Now that I’ve been across The Rainbow Bridge for a couple weeks, they said I should write a letter home. Sorry, Mom but I’m so busy ‘across the bridge’ that I haven’t thought of home much. They said it’s okay and that you would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.) Remember that night when I wasn’t feeling very well and we were all crying? I don’t remember much, but I do remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your touches and hugs…I remember hearing “we love you” and that one last command of “Go through”. I didn’t know what you meant, so I turned around and walked through the fog that was in front of me. I saw the biggest bridge I’ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other side of it! They were all playing with toys and balls! You were right to tell me to go there! My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling me back. Your touches became lighter and lighter and I wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for the happy place over the bridge! My feet started moving on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them forward for me! I can’t explain it, but I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do! So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself! I looked for you, because you’re always by my side, walking with me, but this was different. I didn’t have a collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~ I was ‘free’! Even though you weren’t there with me, I never felt alone! I actually felt like I had a huge cape of love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the easier it was to breathe! So, I kept walking! And I would feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking! I eventually made it over the big bridge - I did it by myself, mom. When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool! They gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a Guardian Angel! What I’ve learned over these past few weeks has been amazing and nothing like I’ve seen before! We’re all the same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have Forever People to watch over ~ that’s YOU, mom !You’re my Forever Person and I’m your Forever Dog! We had such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but please know that I am so happy in my new home across The Bridge! I’ll send you another Earth Angel so you won’t be alone. Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me. I’ll check in every so often to make sure they treasure your love ~ I always did! When you miss me, think of a rainbow and know I’m on the other side of it, waiting to walk with you again. I’ll always be in your heart. I love you, mom! That’s exactly what I was remembering. Daddy was such an amazing dog. When Junior came along he was just adorable and Daddy was such a wonderful role model for him. It was sad when Daddy passed. It’s the highest price to pay for loving a dog! Heartbreaking. I lost my two pitbulls; Chino in 2015, and have not gotten past that, and Brie in 2022, my heart is broken. I have since adopted another pitbull, Journey, who fills the void. But every time I lose a dog a piece of my heart goes with them. Cesar, you are a wonderful, kind and loving individual. I feel your grief in my heart. Daddy and Junior will always be special and their legacy will live on forever…. ❤️ Be well and may God bless you

I truly believe that. My last dog was 17 when he had a stroke and passed 13 years ago. He always slept on our bed, by our feet. To this day, sometimes late at night, I feel weight on movement on my feet. I know it’s not my husband as I wake up and look and my husbands feet are nowhere near me. It is very comforting to me. I know he is letting me know he is still here with us.

It's great that Cesar refers to Junior as 'someone' and not 'something'. I have never thought of my dogs as property or objects. I lost my special girl a couple of years ago - a big mostly pit mix. If I had watched this a year ago, I probably would have been in tears. All my dogs have been wonderful and all in very different ways.

Damn... another great dog to me gone. I know no one will see this comment, but my own dog used to belong to my father, and he left her with my uncle, he couldn't take care of her so he was going to put her down, that's when I stepped in and got her out of there, she had unkept fur and was over weight when I got her, I got her to a silky smooth coat and a healthy weight. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I'll walk out my room and expect to do my normal routine with her, but she's always no longer there by my door, waiting for me to take her for a walk. She passed due to a cancer growing in her jaw, when she was about 12 years old we took her to the vet for a lump on her jaw and they confirmed it to be cancer, and she'd only survive for a few more months.... until that time came, I would continue our routine and be happy with her, and as it turns out she lasted almost 2 years, until she was too weak to continue, and with that, she had met her last summer.... she left the world in a tight embrace, my embrace, as I hugged her until I felt her go limp there on that vet table.... I didn't dare shed a tear for her at the time, and kept her on a leash, until we placed her into her final resting place, there I would unlatch her color and with a wavering voice, would tell her spirit to go, to be free to play in the fields around us as long as she wanted to... I took the leash with me but I left her with her collar on, as that was her identity.... I hope you're still doing well out there, Niska, my precious puppy. "Being missed so deeply is the price for being loved so much."

I seen you get Daddy, you were adamant he was the best dog ever, he was so good at calming other dogs, then I watched you get Junior, Daddy knew, sorry hard to type through the tears. I've not been this upset since Takis lost Black. To lose your boy never goes away. My boy left for that long walk 5 years ago, I still miss him so much.

“You are not in control of his time on earth” So true and yet so hard. We lost our 13 year old golden in February to cancer complications. She was treated for a year and a half and I am thankful for each additional day. But the loss is heartbreaking. Wonderful memories of Junior and Daddy. Miss them.

I'm 2 years late to finding this video. I'm so sorry for your loss of Junior. I remember watching the episode when you got Junior and that playful way he lifted his front legs so high while walking with you and Daddy. He truly was an ambassador for the breed and did such a good job of being your right hand dog after Daddy passed him the torch. Dogs are the BEST. God bless you Cesar.
