Excellent as usual. Love your insets clearly showing the relevant part of the avionics/panel. On a different note most American pilots are unaware of the transition altitude being other than at FL180. I'm a pilot of C208 myself. Never seen C208 at FL250 even though was always interested how would it perform. TAS of 166 is ok, I wonder how long it took you to climb all the way there. What was a fuel consumption? Around 300-310 lbs/hr? Also surprised that it doesn't have any ice protection even TKS. I guess you don't really need one in Africa.
@GuidoWarnecke2 жыл бұрын
Ferry flying is al about achieving maximum safe range of the aircraft. At FL250, the fuel flow drops to 250pph and below at a TAS of around 170kts, depending on weight and temperature. No FIKI as the aircraft will operate in Africa. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

hi Guido. may i ask if there is any special reason/benefit why you keep the FCL to low idle in flight?
@GuidoWarnecke2 жыл бұрын
I know that by the book, the condition lever should be in high. So you are correct. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@ricocorix63232 жыл бұрын
i also noticed on your past caravan ferrys that fcl is on low idle. so i was wondering if keepin it on low idle would a give the benefit, i dont know maybe lower fuel consumption or less stress on the engine or even smooth touchdown like all your caravan flights 😅. i dont know but i sure would like to be as masterful as you sir. clear skies and happy landings to you captain.
@droge1922 жыл бұрын
It only affects fuel flow at idle, so having the condition lever at low idle in flight does not in any way reduce performance of fuelling. A better descent rate can be achieved with the CL in low.
@TheOneTrueSpLiT2 жыл бұрын
Perfect touchdown. I'm a big fan of the C208, it is my 2nd "go to" aircraft in both MSFS and X-Plane, but I always have trouble managing my speed when descending and on final so I pull back on the prop condition level to manage my speed (tut tut tut!). I see you have the lever full-forward so where am I going wrong? TIA and blue skies as always.
@GuidoWarnecke2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Guy. To which lever to you refer to when you mention "full forward"? Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
@droge1922 жыл бұрын

Captain, how far from the airport do you activate your landing lights?
@GuidoWarnecke2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, that really depends on the situation. T low altitude, the risk of collisions with other aircraft and birds is greatly elevated. In some aircraft, the landing lights are mounted on the landing gear. So you can switch them only on with the gear extended. I think as a good rule, below 10,000ft one should switch on recognition lights (or landing lights if applicable). Otherwise at least within 5NM of the airport. Modern LED lights have an unlimited lifetime and draw very little electricity. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido
