While I (a hard of hearing person) really value the custom captions, the auto captions aren't too terrible. So don't feel too guilty about glitches. I'm sure it'll all get sorted out soon. KZbin isn't the most friendly place (I don't understand why auto closed captions are disabled for so many videos!)

Watching the first video in this compilation (the 2020 knitting recap) is making me feel nostalgic, as it's the very first video I saw from your channel. I had barely started knitting at the time and just today I bought my first skeins of pricey hand-dyed 100& wool yarn. How time flies.

I am an excellent crocheter and cross stitcher. I can crochet and cross stitch anything, but for the life of me I dont get knitting, I just can't do it though I've tried many times! Seeing your videos made me want to try again and again till I manage! I know it will take years of practice to just do a fraction of what you are doing, but maybe one day I manage. I love your videos!!! Also if you like to be challenged in crochet try to make a CAL blanket, like Sophie's universe in ravelry (free). You will really learn a lot.

Another great compilation to watch while knitting! To be honest I also watched part of it before bed because I couldn't fall asleep, but now I'm knitting socks for my husband, the first project in my life on such small needles, the smallest I got before was 3.5 mm and they're on 2.5 mm, I know it's not exactly the smallest for socks, but my eyesight isn't that good even with glasses, I think it's time to change them 😂

Your Elizabeth Woodville cardigan started my love of all Alice Starmore patterns. I'm hoping to knit the Catherine Howard cardigan this year. If I succeed I will tag you 😊. I've found that Debbie Bliss fine Donegal from love crafts seems to match the gauge without a super high itch factor. I got on sale so it was a really good price. I'll let you know if it works 😊

I'm not a vintage knitter but in Australia we have 3ply yarn at bendigo woolen mills (although it is on the other side of the world and probably expensive to ship), I always wonder if that would be a good fit for vintage patterns. If I ever tackle one of the vintage projects in my favourites list I'll probably try it out 😅

Their Luxury line (the softer option) only comes in white and off-white as 3 ply, but I made a tshirt with it and dyed it purple, and it was great! I'm going to do it a few more times. I really like their yarn for having a little bit of bite while still somehow being machine washable. I'm disabled and chronically ill too, and I can't really hand wash anything. Superwash has its charms for me, but it's nice to have BWM as an option that provides a bit of grip. Also they're way cheaper than the alternatives. I'm sadly allergic to their Classic line though (it made me cough), which is weird because I don't react to any other wools, only mohair.

There's one 3ply yarn that I know of, Rosita by a german brand called Fischer Wolle. It has 275m per 50 gr but they only sell it on 250gr spools. It comes in 4 solids and 1 rainbow color and is reasonably priced. It isn't the softest wool, but if you can wear non superwash, you probably won't have any problems wearing it.

The "Jawoll" lang yarn is a German pun. It is a shout of excitement and approval, short for "ja, wohl" meaning something like "yes, good". But... "woll-" as in Wollpullover means "made out of wool".

Another thing too (sorry about this) at around 52:00 the audio is desynced with the video, I do lip read a lot so I find it a touch disorientating. It might be because this is such a long video, which does make it harder to edit

When you say "three-ply" you are referring to the yarn weight, correct? Not how many strands make up the yarn? Super enjoyable, as always. It is a treat to put this on and hang out and get inspired. Thank you!! eta: I went back and rewatched your "So many swatches!" video and see the vintage yarn you mention you wanted was both 3-ply in terms of weight, and three stranded.. The equivalent weight yarns are not necessarily three-stranded, might be two or four, and were less tightly spun than vintage 3-ply. So interesting!

Question for the more experienced knitters (if anyone's even going to read this message haha) wouldn't it be possible to quick-fix a too-big sewn-up sweater by undoing the side seams and moving them inwards a little? (Re: the patchwork jumper at the very end) I understand that ripping back and fixing is the best option, but I feel like redoing the sewing can help a lot more and a lot quicker...
@crystald36553 ай бұрын
Yes that could work as a quick fix. I intentionally chain stich seams so they're quick and easy to undo and adjust as needed as our bodies change and that's OK. The old seams could even be left in place and new ones placed where needed to the inside. The seams might have a bit of bulk to them.
@mst757411 ай бұрын
Ive been thinking "who!?" You must be the expert to ask about fitting knitting top/sweater etc. Most patterns are straight, and that makes me look like a little block (154cm). Anything from darts or on side is fine. My waistline is not tiny, but waist technique to apply to designs without. 🎉 I Hope you can help Thanks
