Chad I know you may never read this, but you are one of my biggest influences on the kit. Your style is so unique with a jazzy yet rock flair, quite amazing. From one Ohio drummer to the next, nice work!

Honestly jamming to BB has so greatly influenced my drumming I find myself playing your fills all over the place. Or, at least similar fills I've developed from yours. Great to seen it actually broken apart and explained though, I greatly enjoyed this. Chad is the man!

OK, I absolutley MUST mention this ;;; Chad did not originally compose this drum part, or drum groove (however you wish to put it). It was original BB drummer Jeremy Hummel who developed the drums for Topless! ItZ cool, because I have a live CD, that includes Topless from back in 2001, recorded at Croccidile Rock in Allentown, PA--before even "Saturate" was released.

Thanks for pointing that out! I forgot Topless was a live-only song for years. Chad definitely put his own spin on the beat and definitely made it his own, but I love that he paid respect to Jeremy's part.

dude incredible work, i swear if i ever get famous and i get asked what my influences were I wil honestly say Breaking Benjamin because of you, no fanboy haha but this video helped a ton cuz i can't wait to start learning this song. I love the sound of your toms, what heads are they? and how do you tune them, like bottom head tuned high or low, top head tuned high or low etc. because I just got new heads and tried to get them to sound like urs any info would be awesome, thanks (: keep rockin'

thats badass how you have those two crashes in the front use one for taste or slide off one to the other for a bigger sound! great idea chad

Guys asking about Breaking Benjamin, please just stop. If you really supported Ben, you'd respect his privacy. If you want to find out how Ben's doing, you'll find out when Ben tells you himself on either Shallow Bay or through video. Or even tell Chad to tell others. Besides, this is a drum lesson video for an extremely awesome song by an extremely awesome drummer, not a questionnaire.

Hey Chad, I would like to know what kind of snare (let alone brand of kit) you used in the recording of Topless...Cos it sounds much heavier (actually love that) than your current snare (which also sounds amazing).....

Did you add a 12" tom between the 8 and 14 or is that another 10??
@mxnpolyamorous11 жыл бұрын
I say that he has a choice and people should say that he should do this or do that. Ben is the frontman, he has a life, we don't control him. That's why I say that people shouldn't bother Chad. Chad doesn't need to give you that type of information. Ben even wants to keep it private, according to a friend I talk to who went to High School with band and supported his band in High School, Epoch. She has a picture of her with the Epoch crew. Yeah, point is, Ben has a choice, we don't. His decision.

Sounds Great!! Idk how important this is... but, try 2 switch the roles of which hand u lead off with.. & try 2 push your reflexes as much as u can & the next thing u know you will come up with some incredible.... coordination. Just check out my Chasers vid. could you show how u get the hand control... I think that's many drummers weakest points...yet so many think it's over rated. Is it?!?!? Thanx.

Of cource dude, but it’s been like what almost 3 years ! I just wonder how is Ben feeling every day, what is he thinking about,what is he actually doing, i mean managing a a band is every day work, it’s like way of living. He should think on that because BB was a great band, and it shouldn’t end like this. Neither that even if they join again in 10 years no one will still remember them, and there is no sence.However i just want to say they should the something about it :)

Doesn't pertain to the lesson I know but I just have to say it. Love your snare sound. :)
