For people with a budget visiting Amsterdam,, visit a local market and you will get a fresh caramel syrup waffel just as good for like 2-4 euros. And for that same price you can also go to a local supermarket and buy a package of 10 which you can heat up in a microwave for 10 sec if you want it warm !

Peak season for Amsterdam is more like August. I’ve been Amsterdam in March, August, and December and the crowds in August are so bad you’re basically shuffling through the streets because you can’t walk any faster. You’re lucky to see Amsterdam so quiet, that’s when it’s the most charming.

Thanks for the video. We just came back from my trip Amsterdam. AMS is such a unique place to visit. The new bike parking facility is huge. My favorite food in AMS is actually the tapas from a Spanish restaurant Duende Dos. :) The most unforgettable activity is the King’s Day party throughout the city. The most beautiful place is Keukenhof.

Finally catching up and WOWWWW did this make us hungry!! We grew up eating literally all these things and it's making us miss home 🤤🤤 Except the raw herring... my Opa used to eat herring out the can and I could not handle it as a child hahaha. Maybe I'll have to give it a try in a sandwich one day 😉

Bitterballen are more eaten as a borrelsnack. Traditionaly pancakes in the Dutch homes are eaten as a dessert with stroop (like from the stroopwafel), rolled up. Pancakes, crêpes and poffertjes are different things and are all 3 made of a different batter. The apple pie is not seen as a dessert by the Dutch but as a cake, which normally you eat with your tea or coffee halfway through the morning or afternoon or in the evening, we eat it also as part of a birthday cake.

The science museum is not actually above the boats, but it did get built into the IJdok there. It was built more over the entrance of the IJ-tunnel than it was into the water. The IJ-Tunnel has been there for much longer compared to when they started building the science museum. :)

16,50 for boerenkool met worst is INSANE. the serving is very odd too because you have to make a dent (kuiltje) in your "glob" of boerenkool for the gravy. if you want to make it yourself its super easy too. mashed potatoes, mixed with boiled kale and add some brown beef gravy. if you cant get the smoked sausage, meatballs or porkchops are great too. and a special "southern" tip would be to add crispy bacon bits in the mash at the end. ;)

Even though I love watching these kinds of vids, why is it always Amsterdam and always the tourist traps that people go for? The stroopwafel from the supermarket is more authentic then the one from that store and way cheaper! Amsterdam, cool city but there is so much more just a town or other city down the block, so to speak. Glad you enjoyed though!

Why do all foreigners describe a pie as a dessert? As a Dutchman, I do not consider it to be a dessert. For me a dessert is something to finish a meal with, so the last course of a meal. A Pie we consume to accompany tea or coffee midday or in the evening. So I wonder, why dessert?

This stroopwafel is far too expensive compared to other Dutch cookies and pastries. You are paying a price that is ridiculous ,even in the Kalverstraat 13 euro ? A Dutch person will not easily pay that much for a regular stroopwafel. With chocolate is no longer original at all. If you want to eat a delicious fresh stroopwafel go to the Albert Cuyp markt. The stroopwafels are still affordable there.

A bunch of junk. Fried food, dough, and a couple of the only distinct dishes they have. Smokey? Herring isn't smoked. Dutch food is horrible. The quality and selection of food for example at Albert Heijn is disgusting and it's the mian grocer in the small country. Basic preparation often leaves much to be desired. Dutch food, amongst other EU countries, has a reputation for being the worst in EU. Notice they showed nothing but a beer and some snacks.
