I now understand Lewis Structures to the greatest extent I ever have. Thank you thank you thank you!!! So often, tutorials online leave students (like myself) questioning about other possibilities because they only show 1 or 2 or 3 (if you're lucky) of the 9 or so possibilities that you covered. Always worrying if there is some exception, or if there is some special type missing from the video is super nerve-wracking and anxiety-producing. My Gen Chem prof frequently put exceptions on the exams and everyone was stumped. So you are TRULY taking the stress out of learning science and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the best explainer of science on the internet I've ever seen.

Hi Mr. Chad. I'm a student from Turkey and have been studying lewis structures from high school to first year of college, nearly 4 years and you are the one that taught me without memorizing but learning. Thank you so much!

Chad, you beauty!!!!!!!!!!!You are indeed a Chad!!!..... I have never had such a better understanding about this stuff until now. I have hit a gold mine in your channel, thank you, thank you, thank you! No confusion! Easy to understand, 1 hour 7 mins! Never stop doing what you do, this is super helpful. I failed Chemistry last year, and honestly, had i discovered that there's giga Chad on KZbin, i would have passed this stuff, your explanations make this so easy to navigate. Once again, thank you so much!

Thank you so much sir, I'm a student from Korea and I've been having much trouble with this lewis dot structure.. Many of the videos on KZbin didn't deal with the possibilities such as NO3-, SO42-,,, etc and your video helped me understand the structure REALLY REALLY BETTER. I think I will be getting a lot more help in studying chemistry in the future. THANK YOU SO MUCH! P.S. Your pronunciation makes your lectures so much easier to understand (since I've never been to US or coutries that use English,, so I' ve never been able to hear pronunciations except standard English ... thus making it harder for me to watch various videos). Thank you! Oh! And by the way, if it is possible, could you please upload a video about quantum mechanics? (Not in a very detailed level, but in a level that can roughly help understand quantum mechanics.) I'm not criticizing the professors' lectures-they have profound knowledge and so on-but those lecutres were too difficult for me to understand... Again, thank you so much, and I hope you have a wonderful day : )

Chad, thank you so much for the amazing content! Love the efficient and clear presentation so so much! I did want to respectfully point out that when you have text in the dark box near the bottom, it can tend to conflict with the closed captions. I'm not sure if this is already something you've addressed by now (as this video is two years old). If you haven't though, that is a potential way you could even further improve your already invaluable contribution to students everywhere. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and thanks again for taking the stress out of science!

Hi Conor! I appreciate the feedback as my goal is to constantly be improving. Fortunately, this was pointed out to me a while back and every video since has had any wording placed on the screen placed at the top rather than the bottom. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

Hi Chad, thank you so much for your videos and lessons! I love your teaching so much that I even bought your master course and everything. I actually had a question about the second-to-last example in the video, the lewis structure for SO4^2-. Couldn't the "best" resonance structure for SO4^2- actually be achieved in 6 different ways, much like how the last example (NO3^-) could be achieved in 3 different ways? If this is the case, would you typically be expected to write this out? And how would you do the resonance hybrid structure for SO4^2-? Thanks again for everything!
@krishnamraju42542 жыл бұрын
I guess the same way like NO3^-. SO4^2- , with six Lewis structures; S in the center with 2+ charge, and delta negative charges on the surrounding four O-atoms with one solid line (single bond) and a dashed bond (giving a net 2- charge for the sulfate ion) for the resonance hybrid. Bond length also should be same for all four, less than S-O but higher than S=O.
@parsabehnia12817 ай бұрын
perfect content! thank so much :) although i had one question ... the philosophical assumption behind calculating formal charge is that we actually neglect the electronegativity of atoms and assume that the electron is shared between them equally ... and then in the case of resonance structures we use electronegativity again to chose the more stable and more likely to happen structure ... it was a little bit confusing for me ...
