Chael saying he hasn’t heard from Leon means he chose not to listen. Leon explained in multiple interviews (one as recent as Monday with Ariel) that he had an injury was not ready for July but was ready for August. The UFC had already had things lined up for August (O’Malley), September (Izzy), and October (Islam). The only dates were November and December and they eventually gave November to Jon Jones.

Leon landed 6-8 strikes per round and still managed to put point Colby until the last round when Colby plugged his controller back in. Leon threw so few strikes that it was boring and added to Colby's pathetic outting it made it a garbage fight.

People forget that Colby can strike, and that his striking has improved since going to MMA masters. He Stood with Usman for the entire first fight and most of the second. He set the WW record for most strikes landed against Robbie Lawler. While his striking isn’t on Leon’s level, it doesn’t have to be. He just needs to be able to hold his own until he sees his opening to take Leon down.

Colby will more than likely win this with relentless strikes into chain wrestling and back again ....pressure unlike anything leon has ever experienced, by the 3rd he wont know whats coming. could leon make lightning strike again like he did in that 2nd usman fight? sure, hes slick enough and has some talent....it aint likely though

I agree with you Chael this time more than ever. My son wrestles for Miramar High here in Miramar Florida. He is a freshman now and he's been doing it for a yr and a half and he loves it. Genetically he is not the biggest at 155 or the strongest right now because he still has a lot to grow especially in the sport but he puts on a pace when he wrestles with guys that are taller and stronger because he has told me "pops he was much stronger than me" but he wins because he out wrestles him and it's something that everyone during the match has noticed. American Wrestling is something very special.

Well, then you haven’t learned much of anything. He’s a shill for the UFC. He talks and lies to undercut ufc fighters during negotiations. As for Leon, he didn’t believe Colby deserved the shot. Colby ain’t won in years nor beaten anyone noteworthy in their prime. Leon specifically stated he wouldn’t take that fight. So, it took a long time for the UFC and him to work a deal out where they get what they wanted.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I would pick Leon Colby's last great win, over a guy in his prime, was Rafael Dos Anjos, 5 years ago. Leon beat Kamaru twice, when Colby couldn't do it once.And those were his last two fights, so Leon is at his peak right now. He hasn't been off for 18 months And Leon is 32, not 35, like Colby, so he's in his prime, not past it.

Yep but thats the thing Leon needs his range to do his best work, and that's how he set up Usman when he gave him room to work and slowed down the pace. Bet MGM went from Leon being a favorite at -145, to -170 and now -160 I guess Vegas believes Colby is a sneaky underdog that can somehow pull off an upset. Let’s be honest they could’ve definitely made Leon a large favorite if like everybody else believed Leon gonna run thru Colby. Which a lot of bettors think Leon gonna finish Colby in rds 4 or 5

I think Leon is going to go in there and piece Colby up. I am impressed the odds are so tight - that shows right there that Colby deserves to be in there. Leon had to find a way to beat Kamaru twice while Colby has been sitting. Colby had two shots at Kamaru and couldn't get it done. I know MMA math don't always math, but I like Leon in this one and I don't think it's too particularly hard for him.

The secret to Colbys great conditioning …Miami Mamasita cardio 😎
@shamelessdaddy8707
@shamelessdaddy8707 5 ай бұрын
We've seen it more than ever in recent MMA bouts where guys are getting KO'd from head kicks and I think that is the one thing that Colby really has to be weary of when he's at distance with Leon. Leon is long, especially for a ww, so Colby will have to cover the distance and try to stay on him and close to him as much as possible. There inevitably will be moments at distance and Leon is going to look for that head kick. Leon has great punches and elbows but not true one hit power in them so if Colby can avoid getting kicked in the head and can pressure Leon for 5 rounds I think Colby wins the fight. That being said, Leon is quit a bit bigger than Colby and how will that play out in the wrestling clenches and take down attempts? Leon will prob be 15 -20 lbs heavier than Colby in the octagon. Will the size of Leon wear the cardio king down a little? We'll see.

I’m going colby even though I want Leon to win, the pure pace and endurance of colby is freakish, he’s not as accurate as let’s say usman, he doesn’t have the strength of usman to keep you there, but he will just keep going for the take down over and over regardless, Leon can obviously catch him and it’s night night but the volume will win a decision I believe but anything can happen

But that night night will only happen if Colby gets lazy and slow down and give Leon room to set up his kicks like usman did. And we all know Colby never stops till the bell rings so that KO chance is very very unlikely to happen.

It’s a tough one. Colby and Kamaru want to do the same thing. But I haven’t seen Kamaru do what he does since before the Colby fights. Colby hasn’t fought in forever so can he still get him to the cage and rag him? Takes perfect timing to not take that shot for 25 mins. He ain’t been in the cage much recently.

If Colby loses will he ever get a title fight again at 170? Could you see him decide to hang it up? Drop to 155 (screw over Chandler and make a MASSIVE fight against Connor)? Move up to 185 (I think he’d be too small unless you put him against Khamzat just for the match making)
@decayingcorpse-xv

Nope. I think this is the last shot he is going to have at the title. He only has a few fights left before age starts to effect his performance. As for Colby going to another weight class, that won’t happen either. He’s stated multiple times that if any of these other fighters want a crack at him they’ll have to come over to his weight class. Colby doesn’t like the idea of having to cut or gain weight.

if he loses my opinion is that he would bring someone like dustin or hooker up to 170 someone who he has real history with and try to sell himself of that. I don't see him fighting an actual 170 contender again win or lose this weekend judging by the way he's speaking recently to the press.
