I did enjoy seeing Gibside again. There has been many changes for tourists visiting but the old ruins never change. The old hall ruins looked great as they had scaffolding up years ago and I love the avenue with of those wonderful trees. Have a happy day Cathy, Warm greetings, Julie🌞

We only saw a distant view of the Orangey ruins from the Avenue of trees on that visit but we did see the Red Kites circling above. The Walled Garden was where we parked the car back then so it was a nice surprise to see what they had done with it since. I have very happy memories of that weekend. This really is a wonderful park. There are so many huge trees. There are beautiful wildflowers in so many wonderful colors. Simply fantastic. The landscape in which Gipside lies is enchanting. Looking back to last October(22) the weather was just perfect for that visit but this year we have had terrible weather October and now. The last time we were there the Walled Garden was where the car park was so it was a nice surprise to see the late wildflower meadow had paths cut through it so we could enjoy getting close to the lovely flowers. The car park then was where the walled garden is now so I think we missed the correct path last time as we walked down the Avenue from the chapel watching the Red kites circling above. The ruins look to be in better shape now than in the old days, so I guess the National Trust must have made some improvements. Yes,, John the NT have done a lot of work since we went there many years ago. How nice that you grew up not far from Gibside. It is well worth a visit. The first time we went to Gibside the car park was nearer the Chapel in what is now the Walled Garden. I remember there was vegetables growing at the far end but the wall was in good shape. What was very different this visit is the new walk-way. All in wood and very nicely built but it was quiet a climb by the time we got over to what is called the Market Place where the café now is. Back then we could only see the Orangery ruins from the Avenue walk and the Hall ruins had scaffolding up with danger signs up. To see it all last year was a real treat and looking at the number of people and children there, it is a very popular place with locals. I love that part of England and Northumbria as well. Both my second choice after beautiful Scotland of course. I can drive the car but have not been anywhere this year. I will have to see how I feel as I have always been with my husband on days out. Thank you Carmen. We had a lovely weekend last October with fine sunny weather, perfect for a walk at Gibside. It is many years since we were last there there and the National Trust have done a lot to it since. This time it was nice to see the Walled Garden with part of the Wildflower Meadow left for us to see. Getting close to the ruins of the Orangery with the lovely of the sheep in the fields below was really nice and to hear the Jackdaws calling from the ruins of the old Hall was nice to hear as I think they must build their nests there every spring. I loved the walk back down the Avenue with those beautiful old trees as the Gibside Chapel came back into view. Thank you Helena. It is hard looking back and remember how beautiful the weather was that weekend when so many people have been flooded out of their homes with the rain and wind almost the same week this year. I have been lucky in my little part of Yorkshire. No flooding but the river outside got to the top of it's bank but went down a day later. However the Zinnia flowers I grow every spring from seed were beautiful until the wind almost whipped them out of the soil. They could not be not saved so had to be taken up two to three weeks earlier than other years but I did get a lot of footage of them in August and September. My garden had given me a lot of comfort this year as I have not been anywhere at all and have concentrated on getting out in the garden and making it as nice as my husband liked it also feeding the birds as well. They miss him as he was much better at filling their feeders up than I am. I have a little Robin just now who sings his little heart out and then flies down to my feet hoping I dig the soil over so he finds grubs and worms. Then every afternoon these last few weeks, Rooky and friends sit and call from the rooftops until I throw some seed on the grass and a few crumbled suet balls. They come and finish the lot so I think I will have to see if I can get another suet feeder in the old cherry tree as Rooky misses it and I also had to move the other feeders off the front lawn so the chap who cuts the grass has a clear run when he comes to cut it for me. I have another video from that weekend but have not started it yet but I might put my garden birds on soon as I have been taking them now and then. Also I have lots of garden footage when I get around to it. I am sorry I am not getting to see as many KZbinr friend's videos but I hope to get back to seeing more soon. Have a happy week Helena. I loved that weekend last October. Warm, sunny weather and Gibside had changed one or two things since our first visit. The Walled Garden was a lovely surprise as that is where the car parking was all those years back. This time we followed the path out of the walled garden and it was perfect as it led us close to the ruins of the orangery and we got better views of the hall ruins. I really enjoyed seeing the changes since we last went there. It is well worth a visit but you need fine weather as it is all outside other than the chapel. Hi Julie,, what a beautiful place!! Such a nice place to walk around. The Architecture is a work of art. Seeing the ruins made me stop and think about the history of this great place. WOWWWWW so many flowers, that was nice to see. Love the arch's and views to the woodlands! Did the Tree recently fall over? I bet many little critters will enjoy living in the root ball!! Thank you Brenda. I am not getting to answer as many videos this year as I would like. Such a lot to sort out but my two sons have been a great help and I am slowly getting there. Gibside was nice to see as it has been many years since we last went there. I liked the Walled Garden as that is new to us and it was a great idea to cut paths though it so we could see some of the later wild plants in flower. The weather was perfect that day as well. Thank you Spencer. That was our last holiday together and we had a lovely weekend in the North East of England. Looking at last years October (2023) the weather was wet and awful most of the month where I live but I have happy memories of Gibside and the other places we visited and wonderful weather in 2022 for all four days. I have not been anywhere this year as I relied so much on my husband with my balance not being too good after the spinal operation I had four years ago and not likely to get any better. I do drive but not sure if I will go far on my own. I still have one more video of that holiday to edit and I think you will like it, but I haven't really looked at the footage yet. I got a booklet on it so that will help. It was our last the morning visit to HMS Trincomalee at Hartlepool Quay. We saw her when she first arrived there years back and I am so pleased we got back there again. I do not get much time on KZbin these last few months but hope to catch up on some of the videos I have missed. I hope you enjoyed your Christmas and I wish you a Healthy and Happy New Year. Thank you Tomotugu. It was a perfect day for that visit and what a bad October and early November we have this year🙄 It is not nice with all the fighting that is going on in Europe. So many unwanted deaths of innocent people and we feel it in the UK . I have noticed the price of food and many other every-day expenses are going up every week. It seems whatever help we can give does has no effect on the fighting and I hope it comes to an end soon. As for our Autumn. It has done nothing but rain and the river outside my home is flooded over its bank most days. I have plants in the garden that usually last in flower for two more weeks unless we get a keen frost but the wind and rain have ruined them over the last three weeks so, when I get an hour of dry weather, I am having to take them up. I notice some trees are showing colour so I hope the weather improves soon as I love to see the trees change colour in autumn. Have a happy day. Take care. Warm greetings, Julie

Hello dear Julie what a beautiful visit you share and I enjoyed walking with you. its just little later that I visited this video, because I am quite sick but I wanted to see this beautiful park. And under the coughing fits in between I enjoyed this beautiful oasis which also radiated tranquility. I also read the comments and you wrote that certain things had changed. But you also have good memories of it and who knows what the future will bring that you will also visit this park again. My trips that I want do from my husband's wish list are on the waiting list for now because I wants to take a good rest first from this bad flu. So nice to hear from you Linda. I know I have not been on KZbin these last few weeks. I cannot seem to have time with such a lot of changes and trying to do all the things my husband took care of. Days go by slow in some times but faster in others. I have close family but they do not live close so they can't visit that often but they have been a great help. I hate being on my own and I am finding it so hard. I hope to get to visit more often as I know I have missed some lovely videos of yours and others on KZbin. I hope to put a little video on of my feathered friends soon. I took a lot of footage of them before my husband died and if it had not been for the garden birds I do not think I would have picked it up at all. Hi Julie, you have done so many visits to see wonderful places and vistas and brought us along with you. Always a pleasure. Hope you are well though I know you won't be looking forward to winter. We've had very changeable unpleasant Soring weather; cold, wet and windy. My latest discovery is Francis Hamel, Artist who has a cottage and studio at Rousham and has recently published a book on his paintings 'The Gardens at Rousham' - wonderful. He currently has an Exhibition at The John Martin Gallery London 'Thirty Gardens' he has painted. The Gallery has a link to download the Catalogue (worth having a look). I am hoping there will be a book to follow. Still on Gardens and Paintings I have ordered and eagerly awaiting the Cedric Morris Catalogue from an earlier Exhibition of his flower paintings from the Garden Museum UK. Sorry to be so long in answering but so much to do still. Terrible weather most of October and now in November, Flooding in many parts and I feel lucky that the river in front of me only got over the lower bank and up in the farmer field😕☔. Gibside is a pleasant place and it is many years since we have been there. Not a great garden though but we had lovely weather that weekend and it is necessary for a walk there. I have saved the links to the artist Francis Hamel and hope I get around to looking it up. I had two lovely books on Perennial flowers, both lovely with colour photo. I gave them away when at the old house thinking I would not want the but I wish I had kept them now. Sad about the lack of viewers. Lots of people and family over here have had their house for sale but only a couple of viewing since March this year. The agents tell them the small ones are selling but not the larger ones due to high interest rates. One couple I know have found a house near Scarborough they like but cannot buy it until they sell their house which is 4 bedrooms. Now the agents say it is slow because of Christmas being close!! I do hope you get more viewing soon now you are heading for you Summer. I have done a lot of garden work this summer and it does take ones mind away from worries for a while. My garden 'library' is expanding all the time and would hate to have to leave it behind. My initial thought was that if I ended up in Aged Care (perish the thought!) I would have my books but then realised I would probably only be able to take a handful with me😟😢😭
