I love that color, my order came in the other day and I finally decided that that's the color for those oak chairs and table will accent with vintage linen. Painted the brown seats also. Can't wait to do the table. It's like therapy mentally and emotionally . 🌲

How long to wait to buff after waxing? And to wax after painting?
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
Once the paint is dry you can wax, I usually wait a couple of hours after I’ve painted the last coat and distressed the piece. Once the wax is on it’s best practice to let it sit 24 hours and then buff it.

Hi Jami, I wanted to know if you know of a cheap way, hints I'm poor☹, to make chalk paint that will blend easily like chalk paint does? I did try the plaster of paris way with no luck. It will not blend when spraying water on it or just trying to blend two colors together. Just thought you might know. Thanks in advance!😁

Can I use this paint on a vintage 1990 Lacquered Curio cabinet?
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
Sure can. If it’s really shiny you may want to take some 220 grit sandpaper and give it a quick buff. Just enough to rough up the surface a little.

Really good (& short!) tutorial video - thanks! I like that you keep to the point & attach links to videos that offer more details on specific points. But I have a question - if I heard you right, one of you said to let wax dry for 24 hours before you buff, and the other said to let it dry overnight (overnight is 8 or 9 hours, right?) That's a big difference. Which is correct - 8 or 24 hours?
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
Both work. Manufacturer recommends overnight before buffing.

Thank you! Do you seal the walls also? And would that cover the knots ?
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
I would spray the knots with shellac first. Probably do two coats so you don’t get yellowing where the knots are. Sealing is up to you. If you’re going to need to scrub the walls I would seal them. The DIY paint cures hard like clay in about 30 days without any sealer.

Hey Guys, I need your help...pleeeeeez. I painted the inside of a desk drawer with DIY Little Black Dress. I waited over 3 hours for paint to dry and now I wanted to decoupage some of this clear photo memory type paper from Hobby Lobby. So first I put on some Mod Podge and it wouldn't stick, so I had use another piece of that paper and started to use Polycrylic with it and it still wouldn't stick, but what I did notice that as I was using the Poly, the paint started to come off. I thought that I should at least maybe do a light seal of the paint first than do the decoupage, but the paint was all lifting off. Do you know why that would happen. The paint went on great, I did clean my surface but it wasn't until I tried to seal all sections of draw that paint was lifting and looking even muddy with the poly. I know you guys are busy, but I hope you see this comment. Thanks for all your time and talents.
@JamiRayVintage5 жыл бұрын
When sealing with a top coat and brushing it on the first couple of coats need to be really lightly applied. DIY paint is clay based and can be reactivated by liquid top coats.
@justdi33475 жыл бұрын
@@JamiRayVintage Thank you, so if I want to decoupage the drawer, should it be sealed first with a very thin coat of the sealer or is it ok to decoupage first than seal because the paper didn't want to stick, maybe it's because it's not paper but sort of...lol, not sure if that makes sense. I may be in over my head on this one. Thankfully it's just for me. Thanks again for your quick response

Beautiful! When you did your Kitchen table, did you spray the paint or use a paint brush? Can your husband come to Central New York and paint my big kitchen table and 10 chairs 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 ? I want the top black and the chairs... but I am scared to death to do it! I used my table top to cut lots of fabric when I had my Etsy Shop and I used a staple gun on a huge sign for a Baby Shower ( stupid me never CHECKED the length of the staples 🤪🤪 ...... yes.... stapled the 20x40 frame right to my table top ! ). It a gorgeous farmhouse style table, but I truly marked it up !!!

If i change my mind a year from now and want to paint it white, can that be done since it was waxed?

It’s essentially breaking the wax rules and isn’t recommended but I do it. Just know the paint may resist and it may not.
