Challenger MT955B 4wd Tractor Tackling Fall Tillage

In this video we spend time out in an East Centeral Wisconsin corn field with by AGCO brand farm machines including a rare American Flag edition Massey Ferguson 9560 combine, White Farm Equipment 4-270 4wd tractor with a Kinze 1040 grain cart and a Challenger MT955B 4wd tractor running a Sunflower Disc-Chisel-Disc. See all these big machines working in the same field as they harvest corn and plow the soil.

Yes 2 for 2wd and 4 for 4wd plus hp makes it easy. That numbering started with the WHITE Oliver Might Tow industrial tractors in the late 60s.

New York has been a hot spot for MT900s. I know several farms in WNY that run MT975 and MT965 models. The MT965 has been popular on dairy farms in NY for pushing silage. There are two new E series MT900s at Java Supply in Batavia, NY right now.

Great video BTP! Excellent coverage on the challenger and the White 4-270! My favorite tractor growing up. Have you come across the white 4-325? I think only a handful were manufactured? Keep up the great videos!

I would hope to some day find a 325. I think only 2 or 3 were built. Since the Field Boss 185 came out in 1987 with the black decal with red stripes I suspect the 325 hp model would have had the same decal and been called a Field Boss 325 had it gone into full production.

How does tilling a field work? After they are done can they just plant in the field?

Well in this case they most likely make two spring passes to smooth the field. Normally heavy tillage like this has at least one spring pass ahead of the planter.

It could be but a 4wd is balanced by the weight of the frame. They may front and rear weight for more traction.

wolfgang oberkofler yes they are around but mostly on dairy farms is where they are in my area, they where introduced in to North America the year 2000 i think and they never gained popularity the chalangers from the agco brand is more popular the 4wd and twin tracks and 10series what is the same as fendt is more common

Fendt is aging allot of ground with the 1000 series. Massey dealers that don’t sell Challenger are adding Fendt to sell the 1000s in big grain areas. Fendt is popular in dairy areas. You will see me driving a Fendt 416 in a video very soon.
