Totally agree...waiting and the hot temps and humidity living in a beach town are the two biggest challenges for me in Costa Rica. A 10am appointment to meet a service person at my house means maybe today. Small critique, on this video I noticed too much headroom in your framing (tilt down and push in). Good stuff Sarah

Here in Florida, people ignore the people around them. Someone stole the propeller from .my outboard motor. I sent my mechanic to the dinghy area. He was obviously doing something to dinghy, but no one seemed to notice. I hope people in Costa Rica will be friendlier or least civil.

Petty theft is common in Costa Rica , it's not personal . I've seen some expats get really worked up about small stuff . a Cultural difference . Just write it off and don't leave things lying around .

We WANNA be civil, but you guys just decided to gentrify the living hell out of our country, so sorry if you get fake smiles and maybe some swearing on the side when you speak ENGLISH and expect everyone to understand you and treat you like you OWN the place, which soon you prob will if our $hit government doesn't wake the f up.

I’ve been in Ojochal for 3 weeks and I am dealing with everything you mentioned in your video! It’s SO hot here on the coast and we have no AC in the main part of the house. I think I’d like to be up in the mountains a bit more where it’s slightly cooler. I know some spanish so I can somewhat communicate, but definitely feel a little anxiety just going to the store because of having to think about how to ask questions. Do you have recommendations for Spanish classes? Also, people burning their trash down here has really bothered me, and the stray dogs. We really have to think of different ways of doing things, which definitely gets you thinking and keeps you on your toes. You can’t come here expecting to do things the same way as at home.

I walked into the B.M. market for the first time and asked a question in Spanish , answered by a Tica in perfect English . It took the wind out of my sails . lol , They want to learn as much as we do . I say "thank you" with a smile .

For CR… So glad I took 2 years of Spanish in H.S. While bueno and no bueno can get you a long way, it’s nice to have some Spanish verbs to use even if you don’t know how to conjugate them. Nouns helpful also. I often find CR peeps that have English down pretty good… And don’t mind helping you with your language barrier. They appreciate the effort to learn Spanish/CR culture. As long as you’re respectful trying to use their language, they often seem pleased. Thanks Sarah Elena. 💚✌🏼🐸

I was born in Costa Rica. I was lucky to be adopted by American parents at a young age. Once I get my Costa Rica ID and passport, I will definitely being in contact with you.

My main issue has been that the chilli guaros are served in those tiny glasses.

Yes that’s a struggle 😅 I prefer them in a larger glass on the rocks

Maybe we can turn this "I can't speak spanish and need to learn it" into a business. Does it sound interesting to you?

What about medical services? Or about trash thrown around all over in a country famous for caring about ecology? How about the lifestyle for rhe older expat demographic?

If you’ve seen the rest of the channel I clearly highlight a lot of wonderful things about Costa Rica. So to keep things realistic it’s important to discuss other topics as well. Did you watch the entire video???
