Chanel Classic Flap 1 Year Review - Price Increases, Wear & Tear?

When unpacking my bookcase, I found the booklet Chanel gives you with a Classic Flap purchase. There's a note inside showing your name and date purchased. It's just ceremony, but it does make the moment feel more special.
If Chanel has an "ideal client" then I'm definitely not it. However, I really don't think they care who is buying their bags as long as the Company make a profit on sales.
It's impossible to know exactly how many times I've reached for this bag, but I've probably posted an OOTD picture on instagram stories every time I did... It really wasn't very many, but I've always been fine with that.
W&T Notes
The one orange mark on the side came off immediately with a damp white paper towel. The small black dot could not come off. No clue what is, but you really need to search for it.
Correction - I said this was first white bag. I actually bought the cream Valextra a few months prior. 2020 is just a blur 😂

You have definitely done better with your beautiful first Chanel white bag than I did with my Lv white bag!! They are definitely not so practical by today’s standards but they changed the world (well the 2:55 did)! If I were to ever buy another classic flap I’d find an ivory jumbo with champagne gold hardware!

Definitely! More than just the bags, but how the Classic flap and 2:55 represent all of Chanel's history. Breaking away from women wearing corsets was huge, not to mention comfortable fabric like jersey. I don't think anyone addressed comfort in women's fashion in such a big way before Chanel. I really want to get a print with her quote for my closet, "Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury." I always think of that scene in the Devil Wears Prada when someone thinks fashion has nothing to do with them when giants like Chanel contributed to everything they take for granted. Oh that would be pretty! I could see you rocking that. I want a bold acid green for some reason haha 💚🐍💚😆

The 2nd flap on its own is enough for this to be a 'never' bag for me, let alone that annoying zip! 😂 HOWEVER, it's a total babe of a bag and I totally see why you love it so much, just on looks alone, without going into what this bag means to you on a deeper level. 🤍

Thanks Gwenny! Oddly enough the double flap never bugs me (totally pointless at this size though), and it definitely limits capacity. Ugh that zip! 😅The whole 'love letter' thing is cute, but it is the most annoying part of this bag. I hope they put out funky colors because I would go for a pink or acid green in a mini 💕

Thank you for the review. I couldn't find a lot of reviews on the white Chanel CF and this is one of the best even for a classic flap in general! How did you keep the corner and bottom so clean? Do you avoid putting it down when you go out. Also what occasions do you find yourself using it? Thank you!

That's so sweet of you to say. Thank you!! Keeping the bottom and corners clean takes a bit of thought, but not much more than any other bag. I do avoid putting the bag down when out, and I make sure I'm not putting it on a wet or dirty surface. If we sit down at a restaurant with limited space on the table, I will keep it in my lap with a napkin over it. Little habits have kept it clean, and they are second nature now! For example, I make sure to wash my hands after I put on my makeup before I pick it up. I've taken this bag to the grocery store (just a few times), for a day out shopping/running errands, and going out to restaurants. Fortunately, the caviar leather wipes clean. I give it a quick look over when I get home before I put it away. Hope this helps!

I am seriously considering adding this bag to my collection and want to be absolutely sure before I spend almost $ 8000😐😳😳

@@salali04 I'm happy to help! Ask as many questions as you like! I was very nervous getting this bag because there was very little information on youtube about white bags specifically. I didn't use any "protective sprays" because I was told they could oxidize over time and actually make it yellow more quickly. The only way to slow down the yellowing is to limit sun exposure. I store it in its dust bag. It is likely to happen eventually, but it should be many, many years away. If I'm spending 5+ hours straight walking around outside on a sunny day, this isn't the bag I would reach for anyway. Chanel will spa the leather within the first 5 years. I don't plan to ever paint it to keep it white because that changes the texture.

That bag is gorgeous! I purchased the exact bag from FASHIONPHILE for a nominal price and lately they have been reaching out to me wanting to buy it back. I can only suspect it’s due to the price increase.

Hello again, The zipper on top was for Coco Chanel's love letters (from her lover), apparently. And yes, super annoying and only goes up. Completely useless. But I guess you could store emergency cash in it... : )

That zipper does look terribly annoying!! That is really strange!! If you put anything in there it looks like it would dent the leather when you close the bag 🤔 weird they kept the awkward zipper!
