Wow I love you guys! I came across you from your honest and informative video on renting your campervan. Something I would love to own, and thought this would have been a great way to finance my dream! But now I would never consider that, continue with my tent until one day, I can afford a campervan I can love, for my OWN use! I love your new adventure and can't wait to follow your exciting journey! I love your sense of freedom, the open road is where my heart lies too. Best of luck! X

Love the truck I've just filmed it of KZbin to share on my channel and shared to my Facebook group lorry life campers UK. Love your idea now got me thinking as I was looking for land in future this way you could put the container on land and instant home
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Very kind! And you are right indeed, the idea is that the container will be flexible/ moveable. Perhaps we get a 4x4 truck one day or, like you say, put it on the ground. Thanks for your support, I am following you now.

Nice one guys! Looking forward to the journey, and the build! A standard campsite will be difficult with this beast 😉 You should make more vid’s to show the more detailed process! Like the couple of the channel ‘ambition strikes’ 👍🏻

Hi J.J. thanks for your great comment. And you are right, campsites will be difficult. But to be honest, the plan is to camp wild as much as possible. Let's find out how succesfull that will be 🙏😀 and we will surely show you the build, coming up next 😀 looking forward to having you around on KZbin! 👍

please make a video of your gray and black water system
@uglysjourney2 ай бұрын
Hi Allan, Can surely do that! Are you interested in something specific? We have 600 liters fresh water, 350 liters of black water (gray and black in 1 tank). From the fresh water tank we make our own drinking water with a purifier system. Please let me know what has your interest! ❤️👍

Looking forward seeing it all comes together. Did you choose the color yellow because it reflects the heat reasonably well in the summer? Good luck building " Ugly" . Kind regards from Assen
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bert Jaap & Marja! We choose yellow for a couple of reasons. We did not want white, but indeed still reflect the sun (you are spot on). But also because We wanted a non-agressive color. 😄 what would you think when you saw our truck parked somewhere? Only happy thoughts I hope 😀
@officialBJW712 жыл бұрын
@@uglysjourney Are you aso planning to re spray the cabin? If so .... the colour blue would be an option. Put some " 46 " stickers on the your tiny house and you will meet happy people all over the world 🙂
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Haha, funny! Valentino Rossi, right? --updated reaction, did not read right-- we are thinking about spraying the cabin, but before we do big investments in the truck, we want to be sure we are happy with this truck (is it powerfull enough? do we perhaps want to go 4x4 more quickly? Is there much more maintenance coming etc etc)

Ga je zelf de inrichting bouwen?
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Goede vraag! Hoe kwam je daar zo op? Groetjes!

Any tips for finding a double cab truck that can handle 20ft containers? I have looked everywhere online but didn't have much luck.
@uglysjourney Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, if that truck is a 4x4 as well, that would be the dream. I think I have seen a former fire truck, like that, once.... So I understand your troubles finding one. Having plans to travel with the family?
@alexspiridon1017 Жыл бұрын
Hehe planning for 1 or 2 extra members in our family, yes. 4x4 would indeed be amazing but I don't think I'll find something like that without some huge cost associated with it. Where did you find your truck? Or did you order it new?
@uglysjourney Жыл бұрын
Hehe, hope your plans and wishes come true! It is a 2011 truck, so surely not new. Got it at a used truck trader in NL. Perhaps check out trucks.nl?

How much does the shipping container weigh?
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jabber, nice to get all your reactions and questions. Thanks! The container is just above 2000 kg. I expect to get to 11.000 kg in total, leaving 1.000 kg "spare". Do you mind me asking why you ask? Regards!
@Jabber-ig3iw2 жыл бұрын
@@uglysjourney I was just wondering how it’s weight would affect your payload capacity, a lot of overland trucks are built using lightweight materials with a custom box, they are very expensive though, I’m guessing you are saving a lot of money and time using an old container, it’s weight being a slight disadvantage.
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Yeah there are quite a number of hours of thought that have gone into this idea. Indeed saving money and a bit of time (the box, but also no subframe, although there is debate on that 🤔😉). Another benefit is to be able to pick up the box and place it on the ground or another vehicle. And then in the end, when factoring in the subframe and the required internal supports the weight is not that much different I presume. Thanks for your thoughts! Hope this was usefull!
@uglysjourney2 жыл бұрын
Oh and ehh, it is a brandnew container, one time used.
@Jabber-ig3iw2 жыл бұрын
@@uglysjourney it will be fun following your build, my wife and I are in the process of buying a Land Rover based overland vehicle, we were going to build our own but found one that’s almost perfect for us that’s already proven itself in Africa, ultimate plan is to travel around Africa and maybe ship it to North America and go top to bottom of the Americas.
