I really enjoyed your no-nonsense video to changing transmission fluid. I went through this process half a year ago with our 2016 Camry with 28K miles and find your advice and suggestions to be very worthwhile and straight forward. Doing the job brings a sense of satisfaction to keeping the vehicle running well. Thank you

Fill plug should always be removed first before draining so you are sure you can refill it.

Yes. On all things be it diffs, engines, trannys-the ones attached to car engines of course.

Only thing I would add, is that most older cars have a filter that can be changed. Most newer cars (2013 and on) do not. They still have filters, but you would need to disassemble the whole transmission.

If you warm it up, wouldn't it be harder to replace the same amount of fluid?

I have a question, so I took my husband's car to Valvoline to do an oil change, they said that it needed a transmission oil change so I said go ahead. So about 2 weeks later, it was leaking. Somebody told my husband it was the transmission oil. I went back to Valvoline and told them. They said that they were not allow to tight the bolt in case that something happened (they didn't want to be responsible). They told me that they drain the fluid from the top.... is it true? can you do that? Unfortunately, I am a woman and I don't know ANYTHING. By the way, a friend of my husband laughed because he said that it cannot be done like that, so he tight the bolt for him and not it's not leaking. Thank you for your attention.

You can’t drain it from the top, I suppose you could pump it out but not sure why you’d want to… glad you got a real mechanic to tighten a drain plug bolt!

@ wow 🤯 I can’t believe Valvine played me like that. Thank you very much for responding to me. It really helps so I don’t go back to those people. Unfortunately they take advantage of people like me. Ugh!

Can you use the old filter after clean it ?
@frankfurfet61063 ай бұрын
Filter is cheap, new transmission is expensive, no you should not clean and replace it, get a new one

I CHANGED THE FLUID ONCE A YEAR AND IT TAKES ABOUT 4 QT ON MY 2021 BLAZER AND THERE'S NO FILTER UNLESS THE TRANNY NEED REBUILT THEN YOU CAN ACCESS TO THE FILTER.

Why not just fill it through the check hole?
@markmeyer74563 ай бұрын
Now there’s a good question that needs an honest answer.

If you fill the transmission through the sideways level port on the side of the transmission, some new fluid will squirt right back out the level hole depending how fast or slow your pouring it in, because how the level port is laid out. Now, you could fill it in that way, but you would have to do it extremely slow and careful and being on your back under the car filling it would take forever, not to mention the frustration involved. It's just easier and less time consuming to fill the transmission through the plastic port under the battery in most newer vehicles.

If it works is it really wrong? 😂
@carlovanrijk40394 ай бұрын
@@flyer8493true, but with the closed-end wrenches or sockets, there’s less likelihood of rounding off the drain bolt. 🤷🏻♂️
