I am literally settling in to work on my 12 week plan this weekend an this popped up in my feed - thank you 😊 - my main goal is to keep myself focussed on one business goal and not try to do 47 things in a rush by the end of the year!!

I'm grateful the ALGOS led me to your channel. I find myself setting goals on a monthly basis. I also set daily goals if the task involves difficulty. 12 week year is a great book. I also enjoy Atomic Habits. Chunking allows me to completely rid my life of procrastination. My goal is to find creative ways to integrate gratitude into every activity I do. Gratitude is my middle name (kinda). Thank you for sharing the great ideas!

There are 12 weeks (and 2 days) left of the year tomorrow. I’m spending my night setting the 12 week year plan up. It’s been a terrible year and I want to end it better so it feels like it’s had some purpose. (Christmas isn’t a big thing for me so that isn’t an issue) thanks for this video 😊

Nice! I'm reading the book now, and want to try it soon. I'm a PhD student too, and definitely one of the goals will be studying for prelim exams, lol! I like the idea of only picking a few goals at a time, and going after them intensely for 12 weeks. Sometimes goal setting can feeling overwhelming, with all the things I want and need to do, but this shorter plan seems more doable.

@@indyd9322 I found this really helpful during my PhD bc when you’re working towards shorter term goals you can stay focused more easily than thinking about the year or 4 years ahead of you

Hello, thanks for the video! I have been working hard on my 2024 resolutions goals. I assigned points to the and a grading system. I would like to get over 75% which would be 'very good'. For these 12 weeks I need to focus on publicationa and personal care related goals. Wishing you all the best too!

Aw thank you! I started using a software called descript to edit and that’s one of the elements you can just add to the scene. It took some getting used to but I’d say for these types of videos is much quicker for editing.

I've wanted to try the 12 week year in the past but was a little hesitant after watching your video about how the 12 week year does not work. What changed your mind or made you see the 12 week year in a new way since that video?
@PhDandProductivity2 ай бұрын
@@D2-we6pz I think the title of that video really should have been “mistakes people make when following the 12 week year” because I think most of the times when I’ve failed to stick to my 12 week plan it was either not having my goals clearly connected to a meaningful value of mine / my long term vision OR just being unrealistic with time/existing commitments whereas now I feel like I have a clear sense of my vision and my values AND my commitments and I know what time I have available to work towards these goals

Hello-- I've tried the 12-Week year a few times so this video caught my eye. When I was looking for your areas of focus list, I saw a video you did a while ago about why the 12-Week year doesn't work, so I'm just curious about whether you changed your mind or just decided to give it another go. 😃
@PhDandProductivity2 ай бұрын
@@annebogardus4878 I think the 12 week year doesn’t work when you’re 1. Setting goals that aren’t inline with meaningful values and a clear and compelling vision for the future 2. Unrealistic with your time availability and other commitments. I have a better sense of these things now so I am more ready to make the 12 week year work
@annebogardus48782 ай бұрын
@@PhDandProductivity Got it. I had a sense that's what you were getting at and think that is likely the reason i didn't have success with it before. I'll be making it a priority to review my goals as I make my daily plan to make sure the connection is top of mind so I stay on track. The main issue for me is setting so many goals I'm overwhelmed before I even start. 🙄 Great videos with a fresh approach (to me) that will keep me focused. 🙂

12 week year concept is literally a Wall Street concept of quarters.
@PhDandProductivity2 ай бұрын
@@cheenangng4050 a couple of differences between the 12 week year and quarterly goal setting: firstly it doesn’t need to happen around quarters. In the 12 week year you throw away the calendar so you can start to implement this system at any point of the year. Secondly often quarterly goals are somewhat incremental leading towards some larger annual goal however in the 12 week year the idea is often to set a goal as ambitious as an annual goal and focus on achieving it in 12 weeks. Thirdly, the structure of the year has 3 elements that help people to set goals they will actually stay motivated towards, the idea of a compelling vision for the future, a detailed weekly plan, and a score card that you review weekly
@OrlaFae-z2k2 ай бұрын
I hate it how all of these kind “change your life” videos always set a time limit for how long it will take you, like everyone has the same capabilities and life circumstances that can ensure their claims are true! I have disabilities. I’ve spent years trying to simple tasks which most people are capable of completing in a month or two at most! I’m all for learning and sharing techniques to help people change and grow into the best versions of themselves they can be, but why does a time limit have to be applied?! Even a healthy person who’s not able to effectively work on and achieve their goals by this timeframe is more likely going to blame themselves rather than the entirety of what’s contributing to theirof “failures“! It’s just so unnecessary!

I recommend that you look into the 12 week year a little bit more. I found that the structure of it was motivating. It was good to break everything down into smaller bits that are realistic for me.
