Changes Moonkin NEEDS in The War Within

I want to talk today about Balance Druid in the War Within and all the changes that I would like to see prior to the expansion coming out.

They could add in a replacement for pulsar, where once you have spent x AP you get a free instant cast full moon that does x% more dmg and always critically hits.

As someone who just started playing boomkin like a week ago. I would like Orbital Strike to be like a 45 sec CD, that applies Moonfire. It looks cool, it feels cool. and would be something you could have up for like every pack in a dungeon, which would help with Boomkin's ramp time in lower dungeons. Take it off that choice node. There needs to be something like that in the spec to offset having 3 min CDs in a key.

Personally, from a spec theme pov, I greatly dislike how they turned eclipse into "single target mode" vs "aoe mode". It basically removed the "balance" from balance, no longer alternating eclipses, and any such variety in feeling of what state you were in: different feel of wrath vs starfire, different aoe tools potentially; so much they could have done. Entering an eclipse is not an exciting bonus or change, it is a maintenance buff to do your normal damage, as it has 85+% uptime. Balance is hands down the most monotonous, bland spec to play these days.

Adding to that, i feel weird about the cast time of those 2 spell, having the starfire longer cast who can get canceled by mob dying vs a fast wrath on a boss who live 3+min, I would feel better if they have similar cast time or the opposite, fast starfire for aoe and wrath can feel like some chaos bolts

I notice they do this to Druids (especially balance druids) all the time. They say they work on it first before any other class because druids are complicated. But they end up doing a mediocre job like “ok that’s good enough, let’s move on to the other classes” and totally disregard the class until season 1 is over.

I have said this so many times in so many places. We are always the showcase at blizzcon or whenever they announce it. Like how they should our talent tree first at the beginning of DF. They did something similar at the beginning of SL.

I agree Boomie need help, as well as sham and rogues. However even more pressing is the fact that healers will be even harder to find with upcoming changes. Kiss/curse affixes are kiss the dps, curse tanks and even more the healers

As a casual, I'm just sad we don't have any new visuals. Every caster is getting really cool flairs to their hero trees, but somehow Elune's Chosen, the fantasy of calling down stars and moons gets no new visuals? It confuses me. Blizzard really sleeps on the Balance Druid fantasy.

How about every time you click starfall it makes all your dots tick x times. It will make your screen show numbers and make an ebb and flow to the spec which lack burst

Played Boomkin since TBC and the whole reason it got Boomkin name was because it did massive dmg and was able to press multiple targets with its dot damage. Its lost that. Boomkins are about cleave, damage of your dots, right now they are too slow to put up, moonfire needs to apply the same way as moonfire. I'd like to see starsurge used as a spender to generate stacks to turn full moon into an instant cast or something, not just an aimless spender that doesn't even hit hard, bring back the big hitting spell that's always made balance druid iconic. The mobility of the class has always been superior to other classes and again been apart of wows history, now it feels weaker than a lot of other classes as the talents to improve it are out of reach as you have to sacrifice other better Boomkin required points. A point where Tettles said the spec felt 'Bland and Static', thats because there is too many passive stack managing buffs, like Starlord, and debuffs like Waning Twilight, which also have rng. I question why i even say all this as i feel nowadays only likes of people like Tettles that are socially seen across the internet get there views seen.

I hated Ravenous Frenzy at first, but it grew on me. Dying during CDs was disastrous, but I was giga blasting in all content as long as the mobs had enough HP.

Druid in tww is basically an inferior version to df as of this patch. Druid and warrior are the only 2 specs i can think of where they did changes that actively made the spec less fun to play compared to how they play now in DF. Shaman may not have gotten many, if any changes, but at least it plays nicely, both enh and ele. Druid though... What the hell was that?

I hate the eclipse mechanic, there I said it. Also dont enjoy the "random" mini buffs that you have to juggle. Mini dragon buff, haste buff, orbit breaker, pulsar, BOAT, waning twilight, tier set. So annoying on top of the eclipse. Dotting up feels very archaic as well. Wish they would just make both moonfire and sunfire applied in the same way and increase the range on it. Another thing that kind of annoys me is because of the movement abilities you are expected to be the spec that does mechanics in most fights. Which could be fun, if you werent squishy as heck for some reason.

Why not make new moon/full moon an empowered spell where if you full cast it will be insta damage (full moon) and if let go early would be more dot damage (new moon) wouldn’t fix the class, just a cool idea i thought of.

Lifelong boomy player in my Wow raiding career since Cata and to comeback the last 3 weeks of DF before pre patch and see how it looks going into TWW, its extremely sad and dissapointing hearing all my friends rave over what they are going to get going forward. Balance needs a complete rework.

Another reason the class is boring and weak when pulsar was removed is no more infinite eclipse and double dip mastery power the numbers people are seeing now shows how strong pulsar was. What's sad is I even played a full starfire build and NO starfall and just spammed starfire the whole time with elunes chosen hero talents and all the starfire buffing talents, I was doing 1.5 mil on 8 mob pulls ending around 700k overall

the actuall way of balance druid feels bland and boring also the remove of pulsar sucks hard for me and makes the whole gameplay clunky , orbital strike is not that good to take so u have 3min CD for the one and only CD u have to do a little dmg , its looking like i will take my boomie and put it in the bagpack till its playable with ..maybe possible changes .. the whole gameplay feels actually like , u casting 1hr for 1 or 2 spells :(

Easy to fix this, devs just wont allow us transparency. Is it hard for them to open a class forum that list peoples feedback? Seeing is believing, we think our feedback sometimes i heard, but the real issues never gets addressed. Is it hard to sit down and talk to the community and find a solution?

😂like always there will be boomkin players giving up certain seasons and while their playing a different class or druid spec there will be boomkins in mythic raids and high keystones and getting 2200+ in pvp and the players that decided not to play boomkin will be confused as hell about it and go back to playing boomkin and then peak at heroic raids and keystones below +15 and 1600+ in pvp

It's Balance's turn, -> to be crap at the start lol. Mage went through the same thing last expac, before they got buffed midway through the first raid.

You need to try out the talent updates. they buffed our builder damage talents by quite a bit. When you talent into these talents and ignore the bottom of the spec tree, our builders do as much or more damage than our spenders. This works especially well with Keeper of the Grove as we no longer need to worry about moonfiring mobs as the treants do that for us. You build tons astral power, your max AP is now 120, and you dont even need to spend it unless you need the three stack haste buff because your builders do so much damage. Harmony of the grove gives 18% spell damage every time you put treants out which means massive burst dmg on pull and its safe since you dont pull aggro. (Note, I took one point of goldrinn to boost our ST in this build as my ST dmg wasn't acceptable imo) Treant > Sunfire > Orbital Strike > start blasting CYGAqvgeoHLefPLb/Pa8nkKXDBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWoYMzMMmZG4BmZYGzAWY8AzMzyMzixDMzYsNjhZmhNwCAGbbzstsMzysNTzMbzEAAAgNzMzM

@@OSchou trees moon fire 3 targets every 2 seconds. Those moon fires hit 6 targets total every 2 seconds. That is a lot of ramp time removed from the rotation. Less ramp and the trees help ensure we don’t pull aggro means more time blasting which is fun to me.

probably an internal problem. not every class has a dev (dh and rogue share the same dev for example). obviously the popular classes like mage and warlock get more attention than classes like (historically) dk and shaman.

You will always have 1 druid because of mark of the wild so no need to care about Moonkins. There is ALWAYS 1 dk in the raid so no need for changes.

I have no constructive comment. I liked Balance back in original BC, but never since, and I've tried, multiple times. My dream design: Delete Starsurge/starfall, Wrath is the builder, Starfire is the spender (through buff stacks or resources or combo points, don't care). The big aoe ability is a cataclysm/shadow crash type ability that spreads Moonfire. Done. Sprinkle with fun CDs to taste

Blizzard has lazy and not smart devs. It’s easy to fix boomkin. Have a aoe dot spreader just like priest. Get rid of the eclipses. Make procs on new talents in stead of eclipses. Boomkin has so many wasteful gcds. The ONLY class that has wasteful GCDs.

I for one am extremely glad they removed Pulsar. I also think that there is enough complexity in the spec gameplay. I do not want more actives in a world where button bloat has already gotten out of control. And yes, the class tree is probably one of the worst in the game and bear form for survival as a caster is a reason in itself to not play the spec
