Thank you for a nice clear, by the numbers video. I don't believe I've ever seen brake calipers pushed back with a wood clamp before. It's kind of refreshing to know there are other people besides me that will use what is available to get the job done. (chuckle) Keep up the good work.

At the 618 mark... DO NOT put anti-seize on. I did this and even after torquing the bolt down tight it came off while driving. When I bought my new valley bracket bolt, low and behold, the manufacturer sends them with locktite already on the bolts. We don't want these coming loose.

What about the anti-seize at the hub when he put on the new rotor?

Ever have the rubber boot things that the caliper bolts screw into start to spin? Im having that issue right now.

Very instructive video. Thanks for posting. 2 questions: Does the Impala have a pinch weld for the jack to lift on? I always burn my new brake pads in with some progressive slow downs during the first drive. You do the same thing?
@CoolStuffGuysLike5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There is a small section of subframe in front of the rear tires and about a foot from the body of the car. That is where I jacked and placed the jack stands. I'm not sure that the burn in really makes much of a difference. If you are replacing rotors and not pads, or pads and not rotors the burn in could help mate them a little quicker.

@@CoolStuffGuysLike cool. Yeah that makes sense about the burn in. Never thought about it that way. Keep up the good work.

Do not use a ratchet to break the bolts free. That is what a breaker bar is for. Also, good luck with that torx bolt holding the rotor on. I’ve had to drill many out after the head strips out too easily.

Hello! Have you ever replaced the rear backing plate behind that rotor you removed? Mines 08 and completely corroded, no parts to be found. Thanks!

Did you not have to bleed the brakes since you changed the rotors
@philliplimkowski839528 күн бұрын
No, you don't have to. When you use the clamp it pushes the caliper back in without affecting the brake fluid.

I have never changed brakes without losing skin on my hands. Wearing gloves is next to Holiness.

Lol, great advice! I have gradually been getting better at using gloves for stuff like this.

Well this be the same for an 09?

I believe so. It should be VERY similar if it is not exactly the same.

My advice: 1. Prior to disassembling the brake rotor, bleed the brakes. This will prevent backflow of old brake fluid into the brake lines.
