Mother-in-law needed help with car and as a good son-in-law I had to help out. Bonus point to anyone that recognizes what video I have taken the music and cometary style from.

First rate video and much praise for clear English. Perhaps you could make a short video on bleeding brakes after this sort of job with the bottle and tube on the bleed nipple. Some menders forget that air gets in and the master cylinder needs to be topped to the MAX line, not above it. Handbrakes on Hyundai/KIA are cable so self adjust but the writer who mentioned VAG cars makes an important point. I vaguely recall that some Fords also need separate fiddling with the hand brake. Best wishes from Ireland.

Hi! Thank you for your kind words and suggestions! I will probably be responsible to change brake fluid on this car when it is time for that. (I have to check, It could be over due!) Great to get response on my English as it isn’t my native language!

Sat here having my lunch and thought I would take a look at some videos, I came across yours and think you have done a great job, the Filming was excellent and your voice over in a foriegn language incredibly good. The only thing that shouted out STOP was when you started to push the piston in to the Caliper, you realy just needed to open up the Caliper Bleed Nipple whilst pushing the piston home, preferably with the correct tool and then close it when the piston is fully down and flush with the capliper casting. 2 Things to note, you should always clean away around the piston before pushing a Dirty Piston into the Calipers Bore and lastly check the fluid level or even carry out a Fluid Swop, recommended on most cars around 30,000 miles / 45,000km this is a realy easy maintenance fix and costs around £200 + in a garage, but done yourself costs £10 - £15 for fluid Thanks again for uploading a great video Mr Spence Eng

Hey! Good advice, this car is probably due for a brake fluid change, I might do it this summer. Regarding the piston, the boot was relatively clean and I didn’t want to move too much, don’t know how it would hold up so I just left it. Yes a special tool to push it in would be good and the method of opening the nipple is good, I will take it with me and use the next time! Best regards Nils

Those pads looks harder to change than it is on most cars that I have seen. You did a great job and hopefully the breaks will be good for many years now. Nice to get beers for the job 👍

I don’t think they were any harder but I am used to working on french cars😃. The beer was great!

Well hello old friend , sorry I got sick in sept 5 and ended up in hospital in sept 14 . I’m home now and getting better everyday. So try n to watch some videos but will take long time to catch up
@NilsKall2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Oh no! That is crazy! Sick for such a long time, I have heard that it can be super expensive to go to the hospital in the US, hope you have good insurance. Nice to hear you are better now! I actually thought of you today and wondered/hoped to se some video or instagram photos soon and I even thought that you might not be OK. Perhaps it was just a coincidence but isn’t it funny how often you think about someone and then you hear from them just after! Anyway take care of yourself and get well soon!

There usually is a procedure to get the parking brake to work as intended. How did you fix that? I have done quite a few handbrakes of this type on VAG cars and it is a bit of fiddling to get the adjustments right. Probably the same on this car. Hälsningar från Värmland.
@NilsKall Жыл бұрын
No Electric hand brake on this car, twist and push to get in, push the brake to get the the piston out and then the adjustment is automatically set. (If the caliper works!)

Haven't seen disks that bad in a long time! I've also never seen such a small car with rear disks. You would think drums would be better suited. Great job!

Drums would have been much better! The front ones was even worse when I changed them a year ago! She don’t drive much.

great job. I put grease between the hardware and the caliper. This way it slows down the rust that jacks the hardware towards the pads and makes them bind. Also grease all metal to metal contact areas where the pads contact the piston and the caliper body at the back of the pads will reduce any squeaks.
@NilsKall2 жыл бұрын
I was a bit conservative on the grease. Next time I will make sure to have some better product, like proper brake paste.
@TheHomePros62212 жыл бұрын
Great job! The only thing I would recommend is clean and grease the caliper bracket under the brake slider shims and don’t grease the actual brake pad ears the reason why is because rust forms behind the slider brackets and starts to rust jack the brake pads so they end up seizing. So instead of putting grease on the pad ears ( which actually attracts dirt) put the grease under the sliders on the caliper mounting bracket so it doesn’t rust. The south main auto channel has tons of videos on this also. Overall great job though!!
@NilsKall2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, hmm, why didn’t I put any grease under the shims, I usually do this. Yes, now I remember, I only had this crappy copper grease stuff, I need to get real anti-sieze next time. But I need grease on the pad ears as well, we have a ton of salt here during the winter so they will rust like crazy without the grease.

Thx for this great video, do you have a video on how to replace the 2 oxygen sensors for this Hyundai I10 2012 model? Here in Lima my mechanic says that the radiator has to be removed in order to accomplish this task?, I think it is far fetched

@NilsKall7 ай бұрын
Yes, it can’t just be pushed In because of the integrated hand brake function. This is actually quite common.

a good brake disk brand?

The ones I install here? They are cheap but sufficient for a i10. On a more Performance oriented vehicle I would use OEM parts.
