Changing the fuel filter on a 1994 Geo Tracker

Changing the fuel filter is a small project that doesn't take long or cost much money. I like to do this on Trackers and Sidekicks once I buy them just because I dont knowing it has ever been done. The filter is mounted in front of the fuel tank and is easy to get out.

Next time pull the fuse for the fuel pump and let it run for a few seconds to clear most of the gas out. You can also disconnect the power to the fuel pump while the engine is running and that will make life better.

Yes. There should be a washer for each side of the fuel hose that goes on the bolt

Shove the cap from the new filter in the old one next time.

I wasn't even thinking enough to put a catch can down. Just spilled gas right onto the ground.

For me I drive me cars down to about 2 gallons left before I put fuel in. In theory a fresh filter will help pick up some of the crap floating around in the 25 year old tank.

Grabbing the filter with channel-locks backwards, and wondering why they don't hold(yes, they are directional.) Turning the banjo bolt in the "tightening" direction as well. Not very mechanical to be posting vids. Keep practicing.

I never claimed to be a mechanic. I even give that PSA in some of my videos. Just some guy recording the thing he does to his Geo Trackers because I couldn't find any Geo Tracker channels. Turning the bolt in the wrong direction sounds extremely like something I would do. 🤣🤣
