My samurai has a new battery but it won’t turn over. I just watched this video and I’m positive about the not turning over . The dash lights all come on and when I turn the key to start it it doesn’t do anything. No click or anything. Wanted to know if my starter or alternator is bad. Possibly the starter solenoid.? Any chance someone can help out with troubleshooting this issue I would be truly grateful. Thanks for your time and the great videos.

Love your videos bro. Appreciate the help. Just picked up a 95 tracker. She cranks but she don’t run. Pulled the ECU… Damn that thing is beautiful and clean. The capacitors look gorgeous so I just put it back in. It is in Arizona truck so it’s dry as a bone. Thinking now I will test for spark but it’s gonna need plugs and wires in a cap and rotor anyhow so I might as well just buy that stuff and put it on there.

I got high idle on my 8v. Any idea of cause? I have replaced all the vacuum hoses and the valve on the valve cover.

PCV valve? EGR valve and or the associated solenoid?

@@Kkonees I swapped EGR and PCV on my "low" idle. Made no difference. Thinking its EGR solenoid. 25 yr old vehicle with unknown history so swapping and documenting parts ... especially as they're getting harder to find, especially with any kind of quality

Had the same thing on my 8v. Turned out it was the throttle body “middle” gasket. Bought a throttle body rebuild kit and replaced them all. Apparently this is common.

@@jordyfleming735 Thanks! Ordered the tbi repair kit. My tbi had no middle gasket and the bottom gasket was made of sealant glue. Replaced those and now it idles normal!

Man, I keep having the no-crank, bad contact gremlins popping up *just* when I think I've found the problem. First it was relays (sold with holes chewed through) and the positive clamp. Then it was the negative clamp. Then it was the solenoid spade (oil dripped on it). Now I'm thinking I need to source and build my own cable replacements, which should only cost me ~$150 🤣 Amateur tip- Wally World sells a gun brush kit for like $10 (looks like a blue flashlight) very useful for EGR ports/tubes and the battery contacts. Thanks again, Tony! Too bad I'm not local or I'd sneak by and leave a 12 pack at your shop!

I had to get a new battery cable terminal for my tracker and the people that made the damn thing had painted it all over with black paint! So I took the end of the battery cable and clamped it in the little clamp on the battery terminal without thinking about the thing being painted! Put the terminal on the battery post and tightened it good and snug,then got in the car and turned the switch and nothing,it wouldn’t do anything! So I started trying to figure out why it wouldn’t turn over! I took it back off and cleaned the post and the inside of the terminal again put it back on post and it wouldn’t do anything again! So I thought the damn battery was dead so I hooked up the jumper cables and tried to start the engine and it still wouldn’t do anything! So I took the jumper cables off and put the charger on the battery and it showed fully charged! I’m getting pretty I’ll now so I just stand there and look at the battery and the new terminal and the ground terminal for about 30 minutes and suddenly it hit me,the paint on the terminal was not letting the cable get a connection to the terminal! Took the terminal off and got my rechargeable drill and put a wire brush in the drill and cleaned all the black paint of the terminal ,then hooked the cable back to the terminal and put the terminal on the post and tightened it down ,turned the switch and it fired right up! So,don’t ever buy a battery terminal that’s been painted! I have no clue why a company that makes battery terminals would paint the damn things all over with paint! If you buy a terminal that’s been painted be sure and remove the paint before you use it! Talk about a stupid aggravating thing to do!😎🇺🇸🏴‍☠️🇺🇸🏴‍☠️🇺🇸🏴‍☠️🇺🇸🏴‍☠️🇺🇸

Hey Hwy83, 1991 Geo Tracker - I have spark on first crank then, it goes off during cranking but when I shut the key off to stop cranking, you hear a little click then it sparks again. So I have spark when I start cranking and I have spark when it stops the cranking. Any Ideals? I would appreciate any help.

My new issue is idle on my 96. Drops to 500 rpm slowing to a light. As always, great video!

Check your mass air flow sensor by unplugging it. The idle will come up if faulty. This was my issue also stalled at stops and no power.

The tune up parts are good maintenance regardless. Check for fuel if it won't fire up
