I just came in from doing this, coincidence?? I did buy the funnel that screws into the fill tube, I bought it after I was pouring oil in too fast and dumped about half a qt under the intake. I washed and washed and washed some more. Took about 2 months till I didn't smell any oil burning. Also installed a fumoto valve. As always, great tutorial 👍👍

What a coincidence. I'm glad that you finally got rid of the burnt oil smell. Smart move with the fumoto value. I think I'll be adding that to my setup on the next oil change.

I'm going to change my oil this weekend. I bought a Fumoto valve to replace the oil drain plug. You should look into that. Much cleaner drain of your oil.
@toyotaFANatic8111 ай бұрын
Yes, the Fumoto valve is a GREAT idea. I wanted to make a video for people who didn't have all of the special tools. Thanks for checking out the video and have fun with the oil change!

Great video. I did have mine changed once instead of doing it myself. They said you can vapor lock it if you don't crack the oil filter loose first. I've never experienced that but that's what they said. Also I would never use 0w20, not enough protection, I would stick with a 0w40 and since I tow I use 5w50. Thanks again.
@toyotaFANatic815 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video. I've never experienced the vapor lock either, but I'll keep that in mind for future oil changes. As for the oil viscosity, I respectfully disagree with you. Viscosity is not like an ice cream flavor where you simply pick the one you like. If the manual says 0W20 (which it does for 2nd Gen Tundras), that means the engine is designed to work with that specific oil. Using a different viscosity than what is listed for your truck will cause you issues down the road. Not right away, but eventually.

Thank you so much, just learned something new, I usually screw on the small cap on after I install the oil filter housing. It usually takes me about an hour and I always take my time. Also i always wash my rig after every maintenance to maintain cleanliness. Thank you again. Much much support
