I done 20 years service with the RNLI and i don't blame them for what they are doing. However I do blame the French for not taking taking the migrants back to France or stopping them from leaving. The UK can't carry on doing this.

If the French police are patrolling regularly, then there should be no boat crossings. Whats more, is that IF they see children, then THEY SHOULD be obliged to stop children getting into boats. A five year old has just lost her life because her parents paid gangs to get them across the channel. I have to say on seeing the report that the mother didn't look that upset since it looked staged. Stop the children by checking their ages. We won't then have 40 year old children crossing claiming they are children, because they have to prove their age first. Police are obliged to act where they feel an unsafe decision is being made. 5 year olds crossing deep water IS NOT SAFE.

If, as a Brit, wishing to charter a boat in Europe, you need a "certificate of competence", such as RYA Day skipper ticket. So, on a calm day near Calais, a lot of people are gathered around a huge, floppy rubber boat, that's being inflated with air, and an outboard motor clamped on to drive it across the Dover Straits. Nobody on the French beach apparently even notices this. Huh! People voted for Brexit in the deluded hope that Britain would gain control over this uncontrolled migration. Brexit has made the relationship between UK and Europe so much worse. Anyway, our King and his missus will be visiting la belle France soon. Kings can't be political but they might talk sense, off the record. I hope so nyway.
