Jamus Lim then expressed concern over the limited or absent involvement of parents, particularly highlighting feedback from parents in Sengkang who felt that their outreach to school authorities, such as the discipline master, resulted in inadequate actions due to insufficient family involvement from the perpetrator’s side.

Beyond schools, maybe it’s time to encourage more local businesses that promote youth mental well-being, conflict resolution, and positive social spaces. 🇸🇬💡 From counseling services to community initiatives, which Singaporean businesses or organizations are making a difference? Let’s support them and build a kinder, stronger society together! 💪 What do you think? 👇

Wonder if there are rules and the appropriate punishment are clearly made known to students and parents... Caning mught be necessary for those offenders of severe cases or recalcitrant offenders. If parents don't want their children to be caned in school, good to educate and parent their children against bullying. Or else would have to bear the consequences...Otherwise no end to bullying in school...

"Cotton wool comes from sheep." This is an active act of cyber bullying towards Minister Chan. (This is an act of satire). As a current secondary school student in Singapore who has been bullied both physically, verbally and in cyberspace, it is good to see that the Government and more specifically MOE is talking about this issue in Parliament. However, my personal opinion is that bullying especially in secondary school is unpreventable due to the fact that most students in secondary schools try to assert their dominance over their peers in some way or another making bullying totally unpreventable simply due to human nature.

The discussion is only about who hit and not why they hit. It takes 2 to tango. Some teachers in some schools instead of solving issues only fan more problems. The time of need may be before and not after the event. Parents also have a role to play in disciplining their kids. It requires parents and teachers to work together.

This is absolutely appalling. For more than three years I have written to the authorities including the PMO highlighting my daughter's issues with Naval Base Primary School but all we got is gaslighting and gloating from so-called "public servants". It is totally unacceptable when all the various departments, in cahoots being only defensive and condoning the manipulation and bullying by strangers upon my daughter and I....totally disgraceful, unbecoming of a educated (yet unenlightened and irresponsible) govt of a "developed" nation. My daughter and I both suffered immeasurably by the deceit and lies especially the outcome of blatant outright perjury just because they protect the adult strangers the real bullies that my daughter had confessed to the Judge and also in her numerous drawings she made. It seems nobody heeds when a minority group voices out.

Siding the school is not gonna solve anything. We all went through schools, we all know how negligent, ignorant and imperfect the school systems can be. What i hear here is only defending the education systems and before u talk about one sided, pls analyse your own speech coz what i hear is exactly one sided. The school ain't perfect, ppl aren't perfect, mistakes will be made but if no one wants to be responsible for mistakes...nothing will change. We have also seen over protective parents as well who refused to discipline their kids...similar to what he is projecting here... sounds overprotective and defensive of school...We know it's not easy to manage but many teachers failed to spot, guide, help as well. Me speaking from being unfairly treated by teachers in my youth. Years ago teacher threw my bag out of the window...and all bc her daughter in the same class hates me and said nothing when her child took a duster to smack my face white. I bet similar unfairness and bullying still exists today. This is just an example.

My son is from Assumption pathway school. I kept silent for harmony in Singapore even though I was physically, emotionally and mentally tortured by Muslims in Singapore. School bullies are all from the Malay Muslims Community NOT from the Indian Muslims Community. First is Noraini from Aljunied Primary School. This little girl always hit my hand for no reason. Second is Hidayat from Macpherson Secondary School. This bully slapped and kicked me many times. Third is Mazila from Macpherson Secondary School. She taught me to consume illegal drugs and to smoke in order to destress. Now my son got bullied and yet his Principal said cannot find the bully. May I enquire isn't this Principal swept this school bully issue under the carpets for harmony in Singapore? I do not wish my poor son to get bullied and thus I had withdrawn him from school. Therefore I suggested strongly to bring back canning to all school bullies 🤦♂️ 🤦♀️ whether they are male or female 🙄 Moe cannot keep giving parents the excuse that please forgive them because they came from a broken family. My son has no father 😢 therefore where is justice and humanity for me and my son?

Have you guys noticed a pattern here? This isn’t the first time this minister chan chun sing has taken a stance that seems to favor the perpetrator. Time and time again, in similar cases, he has pushed for leniency. This raises serious concerns. I understand that these are young offenders, but there has to be a balance. Proper education about the law is important, but so is recognizing the value of the victim’s life and the lasting impact on them. Justice should not be one-sided. Who will pay for any long term suffering for the victim? As parents, we need to ask ourselves: would we be okay if it were our loved ones suffering while the perpetrators walk away easily? It’s time to demand accountability and fairness for all, 9 months in your womb leh hello?

Every parent love their kids, that's fair. But when they only think their kids are the only angles in the classroom, then that affects judgement. If you have more than 1 kid, you will see how they fight, how one bullies others, how at least one of your own kid play victim. How do you discipline your own children? Do you blame the victim? If that bully kick & punch the victim. Do you cane & post what the bully (your own kid) did to your other kid (also your kid) on social media? When it's our own kid bully our own kid, we treat the situation differently? Not putting parents down, but urge parents to think about it. Your kid crying victim could be the despicable mastermind you didn't know of. Your kid being bullied today could be the one bullying others tomorrow as well. If you think all. Being bullied today does not give him/her the reason to bully others. Hurted people hurt people. It's sad. It hurts. It's not easy. Having a little more emphathy could help us all a long way

They are too young to judge in adult court and too old knowing is a crime, and knowing their right. However, if going uncheck, Singapore may end up as other countries. Singapore is still in control of bullism. Besides, bullism is part of growing up to be bully-proof. When we grow up, we recall and laugh at it. Singapore's school has more rebellious students, wanabe heroes, and standout to talk back to the teacher rather. These are the students who are distracting the class.
