You just demonstrated why everyone needs to be also on Door Dash, Postmates, or Uber Eats. When IC slows down you immediately switch to food Delivery to fill in the dead time and keep making money. Just keep switching back and forth between the apps. Always be moving.

A couple tips for you! If you park at a grocery store waiting for a batch, make sure it's not a store like the one you did "Delivery Only" for. These stores have imbedded IC shoppers that strictly do shopping. The probability that they'll need additional help from the outside is significantly lower than a store that doesn't do curbside pickups. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are traditionally the slowest days whereas Sundays and Mondays tend to be the busiest. Try to make an intro or greeting to your customer as well as ask them if they would like to add anything else prior to checkout. That extra step will give you a boost in tips by adding additional items to their basket AND giving great customer service. Best of luck to you!! :-)

Yes the custom greeting comes in clutch when I’m trying to be quick in and out. I set mine to “hi it’s me (name) your instacart shopper. Heads up their out of (insert item) would you like something else as a replacement.” and then just write what’s out of stock because messaging what they’re out of every single time is redundant and slows me down

I order through IC a lot and just came here to see whether I should continue using this company (if they pay fair wages). Hi, I'm looking into instacart now. Right now my life has hit a nail. Ive got children in school and then I've got an infant who can't be in daycare due to health issues. On top of that my older two kids don't have a school bus right now so I'm dropping and picking them up every school day. They're high school kids and one has a half day schedule. I drop off once and pickup twice at two different times from the high school. So I needed something that allows me to take my baby with me and still frees me to pick up my children. Instacart seems like a perfect fit. Im saying this only to say they're not exploiting workers they're actually giving a solution to the needs of many people who can't do a 9 to 5 for whatever reason that may be. I feel blessed to be able to have this as an opportunity because years ago when my older children were little I always felt like I was choosing between being a mom and providing for them. With these services that allow people to work around their lives I no longer feel stuck like ive got to make a choice. Especially when you have a child with health conditions that limit things. If using them helps you keep using them because in helping you it's helping people like myself and I appreciate every user for being able to have the mobility my life needs right now.

Hi, Chanty! I work as an Instacart Shopper Customer Support. I bumped onto your video because I'm on 14 day quarantine and couldn't go back to work yet. I really miss work and helping shoppers with their issues and questions that's why I decided to search vlogs about Instacart shoppers and to know more about our shoppers. This is absolutely unsolicited but I would like to shed some light about the low batches, if there are no reported issues on the app, it is more likely there are more shoppers in your area than customers placing orders. You can actually wait at the store - like what you did and drive around busy areas. There are lots of orders, too, during Saturdays and Sundays. I hope you are safe and doing great!

Thats my plan. I'm a truck driver, been on the road for about 3 years, planning on quitting after this year and doing instacart in Minneapolis, its about 40 minutes from my small town of 300. Doing Instacart part time i should be able to regularly clear half of what i currently make trucking. My mom in our home town of 80,000 in California makes $600/week just doing it on her weekends. She's a school teacher. I figure Minneapolis has like 5 times more people than Merced so i should be able to make at least as much as my mom if not more. Small town life is great for cost of living, but not many jobs out here but trucking lol my total bills are like $1400/month so yeah, my hope is to get away with 3 days working for 3 weeks and 5 days for 1 week per month.

I really haven’t done much IC since May bc I’ve been working a big construction job. But it’s a great side hustle. I also found if there’s no batches to close out app and reopen and then there’s batches. I think it’s a glitch or something. I also deduct $1.25/hr for gas on avg bc I drive a truck with hemi. Half of my deliveries take 25-35 min near Portland but they usually tip $25-40. Sign up ASAP bc they aren’t taking on more shoppers in some areas.

I love Instacart, it works for me as long as I keep my stars up, and work the required hours. I do this part time, we get hot days, rainy days, light orders or heavy orders. We deal with apartments, gated communities, companies, ect.. so far it’s been a great side job for me! I’ve worked in many cities from LA to OC, the amount of work varies… but once you get the hang of it you will find your area and what area makes you money. I have another job as well, asked my boss if I can keep this job. He was ok with it, I also looked up question online about second jobs, on a job law thing it said that no one has the right to stop you from money (second job) unless companies are competing against each other, its interfering with your regular working hours, duties and attendance. I’ve been with Instacart for about 3 years. I would do it full time but scared lol… scared that it can probably shut down one day. Just got a perm position, my pay will go up and down because of union things, rules agreement and some benefits are only temporary so I am so thankful for this second job!

Yeah I found it interesting. There are a lot of opportunities during this time. You can grow microgreens. They grow super fast, in a few days, and are the freshest kind of food that people love. Broccoli sprouts in particular. I just had a thought. I'm not sure if you do anything to get extra business, but I was thinking you could maybe make up some business cards and drop them in the mailbox/letterbox of your neighbors and maybe get more business, because there are probably a lot of people who don't know and would like some help getting food during the pandemic. I was also wondering if somebody wants animal products. I would find that pretty difficult.

There's no actual tips here. Because 90% of the batches I get are puny amounts for an hour or 2 of shopping. You can't "go faster" when they've got produce you have to weigh and it never matches what they want so you gotta fight with support to deal with a small underweight load. Not to mention when they change brands of an item and it won't accept it and you wait 10 minutes for support to not pay attention to you and the store is mad busy so you have to wait in a 30 minute line for trash pay.

I live near a grocery outlet and they have a slab of chocolate with almonds that is vegan. Also one KZbinr keeps refreshing app every few seconds to get batches as the bots take it if you don't act fast/

FYI because it happened to me. If you signed up and got baches than than you don’t see no batches at all is because the Background check has not been completed. I did Instacart for 2 day made $250. Than It took like a week to start seeing all batches because by background was completed.

So I was doing postmates for a while but it sucks in this area. I ended up spending more than 40+ hours over 2 weeks and I made a little less than $300. After paying for gas I probably made 0 profit. I just heard about instacart and saw this video. Im gonna give it a try! Thanks for the video

So you do the shopping for the customer & how do you pay at checkout? Or do you not go through checkout? Are the items scanned with the app?

I do Instacart as well and have experience le the same thing with batches. I try to take advantage of the close ones before they stop coming and I’d have to head out further away.

Thank you for sharing. Very helpful indeed. 👍 Answering any or as many Q's below would be much appreciated (sorry I have so many lol): Q1) What do you choose to do while waiting for your next batch? Q2) If you "Multi-App", which ones do YOU have? Q3) Do you have any recommendations about what apps to use for side gigs like instacart?📲 To help manage taxes, mileage, car maintenance?🔨 Q4) How long have you been working for instacart? Q5) Why are you not worried about your car breaking down? 🚗🔥 👀 Q6) After all those types of costs considered, how much would you think you make hourly? Q7) Oh, and as a lady, have you ever felt like you were unsafe when going to these strangers homes?🏃🏡 Why or why not?

If you can do 4-5 batches hopefully 20 dollars and up. That’s 100 plus a day. Mon- Friday you’ll make 500 plus a week. That’s if you have the time to do so

Hello Chanty, when your shopping with Instacart do you pay with a card from Instacart or do you buy the groceries an in return Instacart reimburses you back

Loved this video. I’ve never watched an Instacart shopper vid. Very interesting to see the other side of the process. Thanks for sharing it.

Hey Chanty. My name is Thiago and living in Vancouver Canada. And I do doordash and skip the dishes (similar to uber eats), and now I'm just waiting to get the instacart to start work for them also. My question for you... Why don't you do some uber eats or some kind of delivery while you are waiting for batches? Than you keep working and than when good beaches coming you do pause uber eats and go for the batch? Just an idea. You're amazing. :)

$16 is the smallest batch you’ve gotten? Granted I just started doing instacart but I see batches as low as $8. This is over in Fresno ca

I was an Uber and Lyft driver don't forget Gas, insurance, car cost, and your 1099 so taxes. Then once you get a daily total on those you can see how much an hour your making. Just to let you know it's not 19 per hour more like 10 per hour.

im consistently making less then minimum wage, i'll usually start off ok and then i get a bad order that takes me way too long and plummets my hourly wage, its so stressful

Keep at it Kevin. I've been doing this for a little over 3 weeks and I've had plenty of batches that took waaaay too long, but each one was a learning experience and so I've been able to get a little faster. Still not fast enough but getting better. Plus the more you go to the same store, the faster you're going to get bc you'll remember where things are. Plus I try to stick with batches that are no more than 35 items. For every order that didn't go as well as I thought it should, I ask myself what I could have, or should have done differently. Makes a BIG difference
