Emanuel Augustus might just be the most entertaining fighter in history. But sadly, corrupt judges and life itself haven’t always been fair to him. You can leave a few words of support on his Instagram: instagram.com/emanuelaugustus.drunkenmaster/ It would mean a lot for him to know that fans still respect and remember him, the ones he performed for in the ring.

Man, it's really cool that you linked his Insta in your pinned comment. As much as I enjoyed this video, I doubt I would have thought to seek him out, as I'm not big on posting on social media, beyond the occasional comment on KZbin to support my favorite content creators. With that said, thanks for making it easy for fans to reach out and send him some words of appreciation and encouragement. It's awesome seeing creators actually encourage viewers to do so, and I don't think it should be a rarity.

@@derricktalbot8846Atlas sure had his back after the Burton fight when he was robbed, screaming to the rooftops for an investigation on live tv. I think early in his career the reaction to his style is understandable. Why would one assume anybody knew what he was doing and the negative reception to his style was anything other than it appears to be disrespectful and and a mockery? It certainly does appear that way and it will always get a negative reception early on until youve earned respect and its undeniably displayed through multiple performances. Once he earned that respect he was given a pass for his style. Its understandable considering the few fighters that result the theatrics have done so out of desperation due to being outperformed, end up humiliating themselves and the sport in the process. This guy was special, different, and once realizing it wasnt a clown show like the rest, they accepted the truth. Nothing wrong with that

@wileecoyoteee941626 күн бұрын
I don't even think he was doing it to talk sh* really. I think he was mostly just trying to stay loose, have fun, and making it hard for his opponent's brain to track patterns (because his movements and little freeze stops, were somewhat random and hard to predict), while at the same time, giving himself all kinds of different angles - AND a lot of the movements were loading up his shots with power at the same time, too. (Yet, it was disguised by the movements). That, and it probably made some people mad and threw them off of their game some too lol. He did basically say in an interview that it was also a mental thing for him - that because he was having fun with it, it kept him loose, instead of getting all tight and rigid, and like, keyed up. It's on KZbin! I'm guessing I found it from just typing his name in. [EDIT]: I mean yeah, he was probably doing it to talk sh- some too lol, but to me it doesn't seem quite in the same kind of way/with the same kind of energy behind it as it's often done by most people, if that makes sense
@sutrey901216 күн бұрын
I agree with much of what is thought here and the proposed reasoning behind his style, but also think it makes no difference why he chose to do it. Regardless of his reasoning it is a risky play that will have consequences. Whether it’s disrespectful depends on opinion. Its probably not necessary but i also believe the reality of the sport is of importance. This is boxing and while good sportsmanship and respect is preferred i dont think its a requirement to please spectators. Its an indivigual sport where you only have yourself to rely on, extremely high stakes, with only yourself on the line, not really much room for criticism on how another decides to handle themselves in the ring in my opinion, and the requirements should probably be start and stop with you entering the ring, but also realize without the allowed opinions and criticism from the spectators, the spectacle may not exist

Not so much ahead of time, as having his style. No one will be able to reproduce this fighting style to make it a "norm". Some fighters have that something special about them that is completely unique, or at least insanely rare. The "drunken" technique is old, but you have to be born with it I think, it can't be learned. And if the person is actually a skilled fighter, such fighter will always be a threat even to the top champions, because top fighters rely so much on "knowing" what's gonna happen when, "drunken" style really throws it all off, leaving anyone, at minimum, bamboozled...

His style was unique and obviously unorthodox but that was a big part of why he was so fun to watch. Don King and his criminal cronies should be ashamed of the way they treated such a talent. A proper manager would've prevented those judges being paid off. Part of his role as a fight anyone at short notice journeyman, was to provide a decent work out for his opponents aspirations. Too show them what boxing skills top level fighters rated higher will have, without the danger of a power packed knock out punch. You can see why Manny used to showboat so much early on in his career, it made him a good choice as an opponent for an up and coming fighter as their coach can use the fight to get their boxer to smarten up. Manny wouldn't get so many journeyman fights if he actually started defeating these guys and knocking them off from their well planned out professional career path that Manny was providing a step for them on that pathway
