Chaos Pen Blanks - Use Up All Those Cut Offs

Like most pen turners, I have boxes of cut offs from past pens. I decided it was time to clean out and finally put all the great wood to use. There was a ton of gluing involved to make these blanks but I think you'll agree, they are worth it!

I use a ladder and clamp my tri pod onto It. That lets me hang it above the lathe. Then zoom the shot and eliminate everything that is not part of the turning. Regards, Bob

Bob the smaller bits you could cast in clear resin making a large block then slice it up in different angles to give pen blanks like these

I like those. I especially like the fact that you cut them at such a steep angle, really gave it a great look. So many people doing chaos glue up don't use a strong enough angle, and it doesn't look that chaotic. Those really look chaotic. All those small pleases?, just dump them in a mold and fill it up with resin. Glad to have you back.

I have a great idea for the really small pieces. Break out the pressure pot. Pick a random color epoxy, grab a random handful of the small pieces, toss those pieces in a square mold (and 8 do mean just toss them to randomize them), pour the epoxy (or resin, I'm using those terms interchangeably), pressure it up, cut up the block, and see what kind of chaos comes out.
