I have been breeding or spawning bettas going on 29 years in California, USA. I made some major mistakes, wasted time and money on unnecessary procedures, and lost a lot of bettas along the way. I wish I knew some of things I now know. Thanks to the worldwide web, you don't have to jump over some of these hurdles that I did.

Thanks for the helpful info step by step u got a sub. As I type this my fry’s are 1 week and 1 day old I have two giant Indian almond leaves in there that is creating infusoria for them & the water is brown with lots of tannis at 82-86 degree, i don’t think my fry’s are big enough for brine yet but they are free swimming and some are bigger then others. I don’t know when to actually start doing water changes and start switching to brine shrimp ? ?

Just watched your fry video. Congratulations on getting this far. From the camera angle, the water quality looks good. Only change water as needed. For example, if the floor is dirty, take something like a turkey baster to suck up the area then slowly add more water in. The other idea would be just to add some fresh dechlorinated water to freshen up the tank. I’m sure the tank has lost some water due evaporation especially with a heater inside it. Good luck!

@@aqualoaquarium7195 thanks for watching the video and tips, unfortunately i loss half or 75% of my fry’s. There’s infusoria in there and eel and I’m now putting in brine shrimp but I don’t see them eating. They are two week old basically so illl continue to watch them hopefully have at least 20 survivors

What exact heater are you using? I see it says hygger but which one and how much water is it good for? Ty
@aqualoaquarium7195
@aqualoaquarium7195 Жыл бұрын
I use the 50w Hygger. It’s not so much what heater power works for what size tank. It’s where you keep your tank that’s more important. For example, if your 30 gallon tank is in the house where the room temperature is consistent at 76 degrees, you might only need a small heater. Unlike keeping that 30 gallon in the garage where it can get downwards of 35 degrees at night in North CA, you can have 2 huge heaters and they’ll run all night trying to keep the tank warm. Hope this helps.

Can you show how you keep them all separated? Do you have 100s of tanks or do you use cups? If cups can you do a video on daily/weekly maintenance? Ty btw i subbed

Greetings! I have a detached room that can house up to 1K frys and 50 1 liter bottles. I have an automatic water change system that changes water every other day. There’s still a lot of physical maintenance that goes into everything though. When I have time, I’ll do a video on the room and my setup.

You have beatiful bettas..what couple should i get ti produce galaxy and Koi?
@aqualoaquarium7195
@aqualoaquarium7195 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks for subscribing! Many betta breeders have already spent the money and time to produced the galaxy and koi betta genes. For one to try and create their own galaxy betta can take years and probably not worth the headache for a weekend warrior. I recommend buying a female and male koi or galaxy and spawn them to replicate the parents. Make sure you buy the parents from a reputable breeder and not a random pet store. This way, you'll know exactly what genetic line and age of the betta you are getting. Remember, the younger the male, the more male fry you'll produce. If you are in the states, we should have some high quality Koi bettas up for sale on our Ebay store in the spring because it is a little too cold to ship bettas right now. Please go to Ebay and search Aqualo Aquarium for our listings. . However, if you are not in the U.S., please check out aquabid.com.

Welcome to the betta breeding hobby. Usually in about 48 hours, live food should be introduced. Most fry’s should be swimming diagonally by now and interested in chasing food. Good luck!

I bred a pair of galaxy koi bettas and at 6 weeks there isn't any koi coloring showing just mainly one color. Is that normal? Or will the koi color come in at 8-9 weeks?
@aqualoaquarium7195
@aqualoaquarium7195 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Thai, thanks for checking out my videos. Without knowing the true color genetics and bloodline, we won’t know the percentage that all or some will actually become koi like the parents. Koi bettas are usually either blue then eventually, the blue will peel off at 3 months making them cellophane. Then if the koi genes are strong, the koi color will come in around 4-6 months. Other koi genes are cellophane from juveniles to adulthood then the koi color comes in. Good luck and keep at it.

@@thailee7549 hopefully, the blue will start disappearing and other colors will come in. Patience is the name of this game. If you want the red to be more intense, try feeding more brine shrimps. Best!

@@thailee7549 Hi Thai, I just watched your video. Great video and keep posting new videos or contents on your channel if you have time. I am not seeing any of your juvenile betta peel off their blue colors but at this stage, they do remind me of how juvenile blue marble bettas look. Usually when they start changing colors, you can see solid patches of blue disappearing. Some says that it’s one of the most unattractive stages. Give them another 2-3 months and see what happens. In the meantime, can you post a video of the parents?

You’re correct! Daphnia is too big for newly hatched fry. Even brine shrimp is too big too. Infusoria and micro worms are small enough for the first week. Beyond that, I switch to daphnia and brine shrimp. Good luck.
