I have this weird feeling that the bottom of the abyss just opens up to a huge cave system lit by bioluminescent crystals that can be made into stone necklaces that fend off the curse and repel the dangerous creatures and tunnels that lead to various parts of the world that have ancient volcanic openings much like Orth where they have their own "Abysses" (if that's even a word). This would allow the series to move on for a decade and allow the main characters to grow up.

God I hope thats the case. Akihito is infamous however for his bittersweet endings. Whether he will allow for his characters to continue their journeys after they reach the bottom has been heavily questioned throughout the series. With Riko pledging that once she finds her mother, thats merely the beginning of her adventures, but Akihito has never been a fair writer D: Who knows what will happen!

I don't think they're done with the 6th layer. There are still mysteries in the Golden City, and two White Whistles knocking about, three if you include Lyza already down in the Final Maelstrom. And Bondrewd is capable of reaching the 6th Layer again too. Narehate Village was just the lobby of the 6th Layer, Faputa's origin story. The REAL 6th layer is only just beginning.

@Tristan Ward it's not that the author rushed through the other layers out of nothing. The first two layers were established to have been heavily explored at this point, and the 3rd and 4th layers were the wake-up calls for both Riko and Reg due to being tested. Fifth was exclusively saved for meeting the one non-benevolent White Whistle who still required experimenting with orphans which would be nigh-impossible to find past that layer. The pacing of the story is dictated by the story of Riko, not the entirety of the Abyss itself. It's why when Riko is asked by Wazukyan if she regretted coming there, she enthusiastically denied it and even mentioned that the relative safety of Orth wouldn't have allowed her to experience what she had in time.

So are we just going to ignore the fact that Faputa inhaling Majikaja's soul strongly hints that the force field is made of dead people's souls? She inhales and interacts with the force field. And remember when Nanachi taught Reg how to basically gain a 6th sense using the force field in S1? Could it be that he's actually following the lead of dead people's soul's telling him what to do? I smell a power system forming.

Interesting view! I believe that Akihito however was simply showcasing Majikaja's most faithful ability that came with his form. As mentioned in one of the earliest chapters of this arc (I believe chapter 40), Majikaja's true form is a gas comprised of smells. The body he has is merely a canister to contain it. It would make sense that by abandoning his original canister he would soon die when harboring a vessel that couldn't contain his form.

And so the Village arc comes to an end, with the Village, all the villagers, all their dreams and stories, its twisted origins that aren't a secret anymore, leaving behind only physical ruins but an story that as many in the Abyss will prevail in the ones that survive in the Abyss. What an arc, it is crazy to think such an arc has ended, starting with question after question but that eventually from the start of the Ganja mini arc and so on delivered in a masterfully way all the answers and closings we needed for the Village and those who were related to it in some way or another, and so in its way accomplishing one of the true objectives of this journey, knowing more of the Abyss, its secrets, the stories it could hide as Riko described to Prushka back then. It has been some weeks since this chapter was delivered but all of the emotions of this arc are still hitting, specially considering a lot of us started reading the manga around the beginnings of the arc and now we are here, in such a beautiful yet soul crushing finale of it. Thanks once again Mickell for all the work you put into all the chapters, loved the colored panels you found, and now we go to the 7th layer and all that might wait for us there and in the rest of the Abyss.

this is likely where the second season will end leave off. im gonna be honest though, i think theyre getting pretty close to the bottom. if the story doesnt end there, i assume the rest of the show will be facing the curse of the abyss head on by ascending using the knowledge they've gained up to that point of how to avoid the curse, which brings in some pretty dark possibilities. and if faputa doesnt end up joining them from this point, i think we will be seeing her again still.

2 things: 1) Yeah I’m certain the next arc isn’t the last one. Because there are still so many questions and Akihito doesn’t “info dump”. Not everything will be explained at the bottom of the abyss, but on their journey to it. While the next arc will likely take place in the 7th known layer, it doesn’t mean the story ends at the 7th (because there are more things down there that haven’t been discovered yet). 2) Where did you hear about that? I’m curious about the source. While I do believe you, I’d love to know where that was stated

If not, I recommend them, I feel they would fit very well with Made in Abyss. Anyway, still a great choice of soundtracks. I’m not talking specifically about this video, but I remember you have used “Ezio’s family” and Higurashi’s theme in some parts. I see you’re a man of culture as well

Aye thanks! Been doing this for 3 years and I've got no plans on stopping anytime soon! I have actually thought about using music from the Pokemon franchise, HOWEVER, when I use tracks from Nintendo parts of videos tend to get muted and videos get blocked in certain countries. I try my best not to use music that runs the risk of getting my content suppressed. Yeah I love to use a variety of different tracks that relate to me personally. Because this whole series is my interpretation of the manga, I try to make it as personal as I can by using tracks from things I've grown up with and love :) Thanks for being here!!!

First seconds in and we already got a concussion scene My man I believe this journey is far from over and I thank you so much for giving life to these works and making our reading more fun and real as our characters move on towards another arc. Total upgrade. We don't know what's out there in the 7th layer. Could be more malicious or it could be suspiciously serene and peaceful as opposed to the hell they've been through from the start. Whatever it is, Faputa will be very useful. Regardless of the ships lmao (RegxRiko, RegxNanachi, RegxFaputa) the next story is going to be one heck of an adventure. I hope it's Riko who gets the highlight now. So far, the 5th layer was Nanachi's, this arc was Reg's (with the introduction of Faputa), so I maybe next time it's Riko's turn. Considering the skill and ideas of the author, I doubt he'd left Riko as that. Even when it's already been strongly emphasized that her strength is from within. She's definitely the leader of this group.

I think Faputa will definitely join the group and honestly I think thats probably the best for her. She has always been alone in her solitude. While she may have had Gaburune, she's never had other friends nor experienced the wonders that come with going on an adventure together with others. I think she'll be more than happy being alongside Reg and the memories they will all make on their way too the bottom of the abyss.

In previous chapters like the 2 bonus chapters, Faputa appears to have the symptoms of a classic anime sickness called the "tsundere". She sometimes wont give a straight answer but her intentions are quite clear. I think she's going to be coming with them but never really admit that she wants to :P
