Hey if there’s any confusion, Palestinians want an end to their oppression in their own homeland. It’s incredibly frustrating to see Andrew fail repeatedly to address what’s been verifiably an ongoing humanitarian crisis unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes, as well as the larger issue of Palestinian displacement and oppression.
@kickrockspleze Жыл бұрын
I think the point he was making is that the people that are all over social media in "support" don't even truly know what Palestinians really want because they never bothered to research. Alex kind of proved his point when he kept saying they want a ceasefire. That is not all they want, but Alex is an example of supporting without even knowing what you should be asking for. Yes they want the loss of life to end, but that is not all they want, and some people don't know that nor do they care. They are just "supporting" because this is the most talked about thing right now. As he mentioned with the Ukraine situation, as soon as something else happens that gets more attention, they will move on and the "support" that they are so passionate about will disappear. I think Schulz should have been more clear in saying that this is only some people not all. However, he isn't wrong.
@juse450711 ай бұрын
@@kickrockspleze well said. I actually agree w Andrew’s point that too many among us blindly support whatever social justice issue is the most relevant at the time without taking the time to understand the many nuances of the situation. as well as not formulating a concise call to action, which should really be a series of actions towards an ultimate goal. Similarly to BLM, I imagine most people see images of what they perceive as blatant injustice and have a visceral reaction to call out against it, which is easy. The problem is these issues are always complex and require extensive analysis in order to build a sound argument and stance that is impervious to rebuttal. Most people don’t have the time or really even the desire to actually put in the effort to do so, which is dangerous bc it could both damage the integrity of the cause he or she is intending to support, as well as lead to the potential for societal manipulation by whoever it may be. I should rephrase my original comment to include everyone on the podcast including Alex bc at this point just saying ceasefire and not having anything to follow up with is unacceptable and highly frustrating to watch. They’re a very well informed, cultured group, so I’m genuinely disappointed in their lack of understanding or even effort to understand the conflict. I believe if they did, they’d be outspoken proponents for Palestinian liberation as well. I wish instead of just bringing up the topic of “what do they really want?” Which is a good question to ask, Andrew, or anyone on the team, would’ve gone ahead and found out what they want so as to clear up any ambiguity on the matter for both themselves as well as anyone in the audience who may also be concerned/ confused.

He was saying the supporters did not know what Palestinian people want. He actually said Palestinian people know but the supporters don't. While the constant loss of life is part of what they want, it is not all they want and Alex couldn't list anything else. What he was explaining is that a lot of these supporters like the ones singing at the tunnel are self serving. It's not authentic and will not last.
@Nxg10811 ай бұрын
@@kickrocksplezeBut Palestinian’s that are on the ground have highlighted that their want and demand is for people not to forget about them, keep talking, boycott and call for ceasefire.
