For how bad Halo Infinite was on release, it's mind-blowing how great it is nowadays. 50 to 60 maps, 16 game modes, actual progression system, weapon balances and ongoing improvements on the online experience deserves recognition. It's truly a redemption arc. But yeah, I hope BG3, even if I haven't played much, wins GOTY. Divinity Original Sin 2 was a Masterpiece so I hope the developers get their due respect.

I think BG3 is GOTY. I place it higher than TOTK because it did something different, and did it so well. TOTK is fantastic, but as Charlie said, it is BOTW perfected. To me, a game like BG3 should be celebrated for how well it did, despite how much I love TOTK.

don’t get me wrong. i love astarion. but he was more of a supporting performance. as an origin character, you don’t hear him much. and in the standard customized character game, he is a companion. i find it a bit different than a lead performer doing an entire game as the main character (like ff16). so it was a hard decision.

im really hoping bg3 wins! not only bc i enjoyed (and still enjoying!) it, but bc i think it'll show all these triple A studios that listening to your community DOES work! i think it would set a precedent not only for RPGs but for a lot of different games as well. i loved TOTK but when i think of GOTY i think of games that do something new, something different. if TOTK wins it would just feel like BOTW winning again

@@bananaman8693 ur right, it is just like dnd! but i think thats what sets it apart from other RPGs. tabletop games are hard to simulate in video game form- mainly bc the limit to TTRPGs is your imagination. there are so many ways to solve problems and so many places a story could go that the possibilities are endless. its impossible to replicate that in a video game- but bg3 comes damn near close imo. how much content you can find in just a single playthrough is amazing, not to mention multiple playthroughs. but the series has always delivered in that regard, the implementation of cutscenes and voice acting is what really brings it to life. i had a lot of fun with TOTK, it just didnt do enough for me for GOTY. but that's just my view on it! im excited to see how it plays out :)

Destiny 3 actually had fantastic community support. They put out a weekly blog post, were very transparent with stats being adjusted (even if we didn't know wtf it meant) as well as reasoning and what future plans are. With that said, the problem is that they recently let go of most of the community managers. Despite them doing a good job. It's like firing an employee you thought was expendable, then all the customers keep asking where they went because they were their favorite employee
