It’s a fight to retain social power in a select democraphic. White, christian, hetero, male and so on. Also, fascism is more compatible with capitalism than with democracy, for example. So as conservativism slides towards fascism, democracy is one of the first to go. But capitalism and fascism is only compatible to a point. Capitalism allows SOME mobility and wins for social minorities. Think gay people in mega-company movies and ads. Capitalism allows for that, even if its incincere and for profit. At some point, fascism also abandonds core parts of capitalism, and that’s when you see it go really bad. So that might be what we are seeing now. Fascists being more concerned with imposing a rigid social order than protect capitalist interests. They want to keep «the right people» rich, and they want progressive messaging to be illigal, even it it’s profitable.
