A bit more of trivia: Charlie was a huge fan of the American Civil War and had amassed quite a valuable collection of artifacts from that time. Along with Shirley they raised Arabian horses and also dogs. No wild parties and such; he loved a quiet home life. I have a deep respect for the man. Mick probably had that right hook coming for a long time.

My niece was studying to be a veterinarian in London back in the late 1990s. One of her rotation assignments was to a horse farm. When she got there, as the newest student, she was told her first assignment was to tend to a horse that was recovering from surgery. She wound up staying in the barn all night with that horse and the next morning a car with the horse's owner and his wife pulls up. It was Charlie Watts and Shirley.

Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. We all Brazil fans will miss Charlie... RIP 🇧🇷

This is a great video on a beautiful tribute but one important piece missing: Mr. Watts also collected historical drum memorabilia. Drums and drum gear owned and played by the very greatest historical jazz drummers going back probably to the 1920s. I hope a book or museum collection of what he gathered becomes available and visible - what a thrill that would be. I am a drummer myself, a jazz player, and I really respect and love Charlie, he will be sorely missed.
