Many Black people have very unrealistic views on how to get out the hood. Notice how he asked them “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” They said music and basketball 🏀 for the kids. Black people gotta realize that rap music and sports is not the answer no more. You can also be successful by working a lucrative job. Everyone is not gonna make it as a rapper or ball player. Being police officers, IT tech, truck drivers, firemen or the medical field along with other realistic jobs can help you be successful also. We ain’t gonna get nowhere trying to be entertainers.

I was born and raised in the hoods of Chicago. What I did was unplug myself from all the gang and pushers. Started hanging out with an upscale crowd and changed my whole appearance. I always argue with idiots that get offended about other people telling these kids to pick up their pants. They say that it's a style and a black fashion. Once you pick up them pants and change that whole appearance you'll see how quick society accepts you. I now own property and moving to Europe in 2 years to make sure my child doesn't deal with this crap I dealt with. I'm a living proof that change is good.

First. I'm a white dude who isn't qualified to do anything other than express my sincere hope that these young men find success and happiness. Many years ago, I found myself locked up in prison for 51 months for something I didn't even do. It was one of the most enlightening experiences of my life. I was the minority in that situation and I gained much empathy for all my brothers faced with incarceration. I wrote a book entitled: I WENT TO PRISON AND SO SHOULD YOU! The idea or concept is that if you found yourself labeled a convicted felon until the day you die, you might learn to open your heart and mind to the plights of other people. AND STOP BEING SO JUDGEMENTAL. I wish these young men all happiness and success life can offer. If anyone would like free copy of my book, hit me up.

People live in Englewood that go to work and own their homes. Some of the homes are nice and well maintained. The biggest downside to owning a home in Englewood is that you do not bet much equity from it. Real estate values are stagnant and in fact the population of Englewood is shrinking. Crain's Chicago Business did an article about homeowners in Englewood. There are some nice blocks there, but sadly a lot of Englewood is deteriorating. Sadly, I don't see Englewood improving any time soon.

There is a funny scene in the movie "Murder on the Orient Express" (the original; 1974) wherein an English butler (John Gielgud) is asked by the Belgian detective (Albert Finney) if the butler's bunk mate, an Italian immigrant to America (Denis Quilley), can speak English. . "A kind of English," the butler says. "I think he learned it in a place called Chicago."

A few years ago I went to Chicago with my family to visit an aunt. We were driving around pretty late one night, and we end up getting up lost. Keep in mind it is about 11:30 at night. As we scanned the unfamiliar area for some idea of where we were, we realized we were in a total shithole. We end up getting pulled over, since we were the only white people with 4 square miles. The cop said “what the hell are you doing here? Don’t you realize your in engelwood!?” He literally escorted us out of the neighborhood because we were lost and scared shitless. Really opened my eyes to the different sides to this country

Zoltan Olah , sad fact is that it doesn't have to be this way. Yes, it will be hard to change, but anything worthwhile in this world is not easy to do, but it CAN be done, and the results are worth it. People need to get enough fire in their bellies to say "enough is enough." People have lived in these bad neighborhoods, and have bettered themselves and gotten out. It's not easy, but is worth it. And there are others out there who will help. Remember, where there is a will, there is a way.
