S1: The reason why the ex had an issue with her being around her own male family members was not because he thought she might sleep with them, but because the ex wanted to take the people who would most likely defend her/stand up to him (which the cousin eventually did) and have her leave him.

When he told her she'd disrespected "the man" in their relationship, she should've asked him, if he's the man why is he whining like a little bitch? He is definitely the kind of dickweed who would be deeply offended by something like that. 😂

That's what I thought also. Part of it is likely also jealousy but I feel he would be that way with her and women also. (So not necessarily the sleeping together type of jealousy) More of an ego thing .. So glad she was strong and smart enough to see the red flag and say yep no bye.

My husband and I have been together 6 years. Not once have we ever yelled at each other, screamed at each other, or even spoke out cheek to one another. We talk, listen, and compromise. And we do it in front of the kids so they know what a healthy relationship is supposed to look like, vs what they grew up in. His kids especially. Mine never heard me fight growing up. I would always do the silent treatment until after bed and then go at it. Away from them and out in the car. We must dictate how people treat us. Do not accept anything less than what you deserve. And no one deserves abus!ve behavior from anyone.

Agreed. My 2nd XH insulted me in front of his child exactly 2 times. The 1st time I asked him, with his child present, if he was sure he wanted to talk to me like that with my stepson present. He looked at his son, and gave a mumbled non-apology. The 2nd time, I stood up and calmly apologized to my stepson, asked him to please pay attention to this day. I told my stepson to always treat people the way you want to be treated. Then I looked at my XH, and told him I was moving out, we were over. My voice was shaky, and I was sweating, but I got out what I needed to say, and I left. That was 5 years ago, and I still think of my SS, and truly hope he has developed in to a happy, healthy man. When a kid doesn't have a single responsible, healthy adult in their life, the odds are really stacked against them that they will break that generational cycle of being abusive ppl.😢

We only heard their music a couple times, but at some point it sounded like they were bowling or skateboarding on their ceiling. We never did figure out what that sound was.

I also left because the thought of future children seeing, hearing, or experiencing any of it themselves made me brave enough to stand up to him. Not for myself (that took time as he’d turned me into a shell of the person I’d been/am now) but for children we didn’t even have. I honestly feel bad for his current ex and the child they have. I too had WOO! neighbors for a while! Every time they were in their kitchen they would Woo! all over the place. It cracked me UP! But what pushed me over the edge was the neighbor who spit every time he went into his bathroom, we shared a ventilation shaft and the windows opened opposite of each other. It was not just a normal spit sound but the super loud hawk a loogie kind. And I could hear him in every corner of my apartment, and for some reason, it was especially loud when I was lying in bed, so disgusting .But surprisingly it was my mom who solved this conflict. She was spending the weekend with me and was in the bathroom when he came in his own bathroom and we both had our windows open a little bit. He did his “thing” and she, despite being the most genteel person I’ve ever met, involuntarily said loudly, Ewwww!! Well he heard that, and thus ended the spitting sessions! She was embarrassed by her outburst, but it had a fantastic effect. Thanks mOm, I miss you always.

Until 9 years into their marriage and a 5year old son later she was so deeply unhappy that she managed to leave.

my husband used to work security for these "luxury" apartment complexes... you have no idea how many people call in noise complaints to security for children playing inside their apartments DURING THE DAMN DAY! One person called every single night around 7pm complaining about the upstairs neighbors, he was required to go knock and ask them to keep it down, this person was complaining about a cat rolling around on the floor playing with a hanging toy and a 4 year old sitting on the floor watching Bluey kicking their feet.

For me I have a family above me during the weekends they would have other family visit and they have one kid who runs like he is an elephant with concrete shoes on, it is very loud banging. It isn't the normal noise you would expect - occasional banging is to be expected - but hours of it is not good. When it happened a 2nd time I reminded them it's disturbing our weekend hearing it for hours, at first they didn't understand, so I asked the wife to come down and listen for a bit. Within a couple of minutes she understood and apologised and it never happened again, maybe once in a blue moon if there was a birthday or something and when they banging started it was quickly stopped by the parents. There is kids playing and there is kids being as loud as a Boeing 747 engine.

I live in an apartment complex in Korea and our downstairs neighbors have complained so much, it was really stressful. And it felt really targeted to me and our kids. I got a complaint for talking on the phone QUIETLY at 1am. My kids were asleep, didn't wake them up. My husband talks loud AF all hours of the night in Korean, not one complaint. I was talking in English. They specified the language in their complaint. We're not informed of any recent complaints during the day, I think the office told them too bad, nothing you can do before 9pm. They did call the police and report they thought I was abusing my children because my TODDLER was having a tantrum while I was making dinner one day. She wanted to eat bread, I was making pasta so said no. Cops were confused bc they were responding to a child abuse accusation. My toddler was just poking her head around the corner, waving at the police calmly We get announcements every couple of months to remind people to not play the piano in the mornings. A friend of mine's apartment complex did a survey for acceptable piano playing time. It was like 2-4pm 🤦🏼‍♀️ I will never understand people like this. If you don't want to hear people, don't live so close to them!

Lead with respect first; don’t escalate immediately. People will usually respond in kind. True story: My grandmother lived above another family. One day, her downstairs neighbor, who was a stranger, appeared at her door with a freshly-baked cake. My grandmother invited her in and they ate some cake, had some coffee, and chatted. At some point the neighbor mentioned hearing a noise coming from my grand’s apartment and both women realized it was the bounce baby thing that was the culprit making the knocking noises. My grand apologized, they came up with a solution that worked for them both, and became lifelong friends. Proverb: A soft answer turns away wrath.

I agree. Start with trying to deescalate the issue, but I wouldn't give my number based on the passive aggressive tone of the note. If they can't be civil first then don't give them ammo to be petty further. I'd reply in a letter saying "I hear it too" etc and then end it with "feel free to come and discuss if you need". How they respond to that will then justify any pettiness/ignorance if needed and it will feel much better to do so.

He had enough trouble sleeping with the pain, and tubes, plus being checked on frequently throughout the night. THIS he expected. But for the short periods in between, he was across from the nurses station and they were talking loudly and laughing constantly! He couldn't wait to get home so he could finally get some sleep!

My Mom suffers from insomnia. When her neighbours upstairs woke her up all the time by walking, she brought them some snacks, had a friendly chat, got them soft, warm shoes for inside and they united their efforts to make the landlord isolate the floor better. Of course Mom also used earplugs on top. Now everyone moving in upstairs benefits from good isolation in the floor that muffles sound and keeps the hardwood from feeling like ice on cold days.

An upstairs neighbor once played the “it’s a small world after all” song very loudly out her window facing my yard where I was chatting with two friends about one’s mom dying. This was at 7:30 pm in the evening in Brooklyn. I then blasted what’s up pussy cat from my little outdoor speaker until she stopped.

"Nutbush City Limits" works well too. Why be ashamed? What inner dialogue goes on, telling you that you are less than others, so cannot speak up, or stand up for yourself? of course you can. You don't have to go out and make everyone's life heck, just for fun, but you most assuredly can establish your own boundaries and stick up for them. It's essential for good mental and emotional health, in fact.

I live in Japan and I’m not Japanese. We were living in the same building (3floors) where my husband’s office was as a courtesy of the company owner. First two floors were the office and then we were on the 3rd floor. Everyone one was so nice and we also was careful enough not to disturb anyone as some people had to work even after office hours. Once my son was born they assured us not to get panicked over the infant crying or running the washer and dryer as they understand and are completely ok with it. We never misused their kindness and I always finished the laundry before 8 am. But once my son turned 2.5 we decided to move. All in good terms. And the boss was like are they disturbing us? And he was so worried 😂 sweetest and the kindest company owner indeed. And he helped us finding a new place by sending his sister with me to go and look at the places. We found a gem of an apartment. Garden in the middle and two buildings on either sides, with a total of 8 apartments (each had 4 apartments) and the agent was like your upstairs neighbor has a daughter who is as the same age as my son,do you mind it? Because toddlers. We are very lucky that all the houses got kids ranging from 2 to 6 years and we all got along very well and our kids play together every single day. Our kids almost do everything together and we dine together as well. In japan it’s really hard to find people who are open minded to foreigners but we hit the lottery on that. But we too are very mindful about Japanese culture and they too are happy that they get to share our ways of lives. Communication was never a problem because both me and my husband speak fluent Japanese and have been living in Japan for over a decade. So we know the sentiments of Japanese people too. I’m very lucky to have my neighbors and love them to bits

100% I'm raising young kids in Korea and had amazing neighbors before we moved. Our downstairs neighbors had kids just getting out of the toddler age when we had our first. So sweet and understanding. After we moved to bigger buildings, our current downstairs neighbors are so whiney. They complain about basically every noise kids can make, even crying for a minute from a nightmare. They complained so often, I thought for sure it had to be some super old person or someone who hated kids. We ran into them on the elevator, their teenaged daughter gave us a dirty look. They have 2 teenagers, have obviously experienced the early kid years! My husband regrets he vetoed the first floor apartment option (really second floor). He thought it would be too unsafe and someone with a ladder could easily break in regardless of all the CCTV cameras. When you find a nice place with nice neighbors, stay!! Neighbors can really make or break your experience ❤

I live in one of those houses that's divided into 2 units, and the unit we share a yard with has 2 young kids who are HYPER. Literally you can hear them bouncing off the walls, shaking the house, craziness. I have never, not once complained about it. Why? Cause when they moved in their dad told me to let him know if things ever got too loud and all I said was "So long as it's not after midnight or before 8 am, I literally will never care. Cause I know you're probably gonna be hearing us too, it is what it is." And we've never had that problem short of some dog noise (which I know he can't really help) once. I'm just saying, living in some cheap af middle of nowhere house, working from home is more of an option these days than it ever has been before. If folks expect to live in a silent world, they can make that a reality if they really want to. If they instead want to control everyone around them? Well then they need to learn to get tf over that.

I had finally had enough when he fell asleep at the wheel going to work one morning.... I connected my Bluetooth speaker to my phone and I blasted classical music from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in my bathroom with towels shoved in the crack of the door and earplugs in so I didn't have to hear it. Based on her BS I knew when she'd be asleep. after that we didn't have any more problems with her blasting music till 3:00 a.m.😂😂😂😂😂

Concrete is good at blocking ambient noise but it will transfer the heck out of impact noises. And the noise transfer doesn’t always go in a straight line so theoretically the noise could be coming from a different apartment from yours even if they think they hear it above their apartment. Or there could be a tiny gambling hall for mice hidden away in the walls.

Hubby and I lived in a condo beside a group of very young party animals. We tolerated a lot until the day I got home from work and couldn’t hear my husband talk, dishes in the cupboard were falling out, pictures on the walls were tilting all due to their loud music and I LOST IT. They learned that day we had a very BIG stereo compared to theirs (but being mature adults we had never cranked it BEFORE). I took every speaker including flipping the sub box up against our shared wall (as my husband took the cats downstairs to hide) and I played a little Ozzy Osborne. After two songs, I turned it off and yelled at the top of my lungs, WE WIN!! We NEVER had a problem with them ever again!! 😂

Yes, the loud music was annoying, and there were a couple of New Year’s Eve parties that lasted till 4am, but some of the sounds were funny! One sound that recurred often was of someone running down the hallway, and a few minutes later the sound of a toilet flushing! Soon I knew that any time I heard running any where in my apartment it would be soon followed by the sound of rushing water 🚽 😂 She moved out about a couple of years after I moved in, but I still think of her sometimes and hope she got to a good G.I. My husband pounded back 😂 We got a noise complaint the next day, and when my husband explained what happened the apartment complex sided with us and were surprised we didn't call with the pounding. The 20-something guy says he doesn't have any packages for anyone. I call the carrier, etc. I get sent the signature of the signee. So, I go back to the office, show the guy the signature. He again claims that he didn't receive any packages and that's not his signature. I tell him that I have a lot of cop friends and they'll be looking into my missing package for me (it was an expensive kit I had ordered). I stayed up late that night with my lights off, and my Webcam in the window (it was long before Ring). I catch him placing my package by my door at like 2 am. We were minding our business and the neighbors down stairs weren't having it, and they kept on hitting the roof, and we kept on stomping the ground. I guess the neighbors had enough and called the police. The joke was on them. Because the cops waited at the door for a while. Before knocking to see how loud we were. The cop apologized to us and was very mad at the neighbors for even calling them. Lesson learned on their end. 😂😂😂

I so relate to the stupid noise complaints. We live over an older lady who has given us the cold shoulder since she moved here. Every time we try to speak or say good morning when we see her, she will look us in the eyes and say nothing. However, recently, our landlord reached out to us letting us know that he's received various noise complaints from her saying that we are loud during the late hours of the night and she needed sound sleep for her health. The most recent call she made was when we had just gotten back home from a week vacation. She heard us laughing about something at around 7 PM and called. This is particularly hilarious because she keeps her TV volume on like 60, which is so loud we can almost hear every word being said. This typically happens between 9 AM and 11 PM so calling saying that we're disturbing her sleep whilst her TV is blaring says a lot about her intentions. Fastforward to yesterday, we got home around 10 after attending a late Halloween party. My husband went to rinse out a cup and a pipe under the kitchen sink bursted causing the kitchen to flood. She calls the landlord and tells him that we DRILLED A HOLE IN THE FLOOR that caused her living room to leak. We sent pictures and they came to take a look and we all had a laugh at her ludicrous claims. I was still pretty annoyed and really just want to move because she is seeming like a malicious old lady more and more each day. She's been a pain to live around.

The night my dad left the house for the last time we had went through the taco bell drive through. My mom ordered the food and pulled up to the window, as we drove home my parents got in a huge fight about it. My dad was mad because she didn't ask him what he wanted and just ordered his usual. (Stupid fight I know) But I didn't eat taco bell again for years because my kid brain was convinced that Taco Bell was why they got a divorce lol. As an adult and in hindsight I understand that that was just the last straw for both of them. They didn't belong together honestly, so thank you bean burrito with extra onions that remained my dad's go to order until the day he died for causing my parents to realize they just hated each other 🤣

My 7yo and I have to get up early for school everyday so it's pretty annoying to say the least since the noise keeps me up. This lady had the AUDACITY to text me asking me to have my child stop jumping around at 5pm the other day...Like, excuse me you are loud af every night and you want my child to be quiet in the middle of the day so you can take a nap since you were up late being loud? I would gladly respect it if she respected me. My husband and I lived in a very cheap two story apartment complex when we were 19 & 20 with one other roommate. We all worked in the restaurant field so usually gone nights, home during the day. Our downstairs neighbors lived with one of their mother's in the apartment and their baby. This place was so cheaply built that I could lay on the floor with my ear on the ground and hear their conversations. Needless to say us walking around above drove the mother crazy. She would hit the broom on her ceiling all the time (sometimes we'd stomp back 😆). One night @ 11pm we get a knock at the door (which was worrisome due to not living in the safest area to begin with). Myself, husband & roommate were sitting around chit chatting, heard the knock, look out the window see its a cop and answer. He introduces himself, he's been called out on a noise complaint which he then says "I've been standing outside your door for 10 mins wondering if anyone was home". We told the cop we know who called, she complains about us walking, nothing we can do. He says he will close it out as a false report & go inform the complaintant (who provided their info). The craziest part about this is the two young adults living there were drug dealers. Which was 1 why we were concerned about a knock at 11pm / 2nd why would they want the cops near their place. Only thing we could think was the mother didn't know they were selling drugs. And no we did not rat them out we still had a decent amount of time on our lease and wanted no issues (at least ones we could control).

I work for a hotel that gets a lot of social media exchange requests, and for the most part any requests directly from influencers get denied outright. We work with an agency that fields them, and if they believe there is mutual benefit they send them our way. So my advice to influencers looking to work with hotels is look for a social/PR agency to liaison. Because yeah, hotels generally are not impressed lol

I had something similar happen to me as the second story. We moved to a new place with my dog. We got a noise complaint from the city about my dog barking. We knew exactly which neighbor it was. We were grateful because we didn’t realize she was having separation anxiety but we got more complaints so instead of going back and forth, we posted letters to our entire floor thanking them for their patience, let them know that we’re working on the issue but my dog has a lot of trauma and we’re just trying our best (this was all true). Everyone on our floor was so kind saying they didn’t even hear our dog but they knew EXACTLY who had complained (they had done it previously to multiple people and had even pushed the previous tenants of our unit out as they also had a dog) and that anytime we needed someone to watch her, they would be happy to do it! In the end, we never got anymore notices and we made friends with all of our neighbors except for the ones that complained. 😂

If the dog is barking all day, every day, that can get annoying real quick! You should had have put your dog in doggy daycare during the day instead of expecting your neighbours to have to deal with it all day.

@@seeya205 You assumed it was all day, which I never said. We work from home and only leave her alone 1-2 hours per week. Additionally, you also missed the part where I stated that no one else on the floor had heard her or were bothered by it.

I live in an apt and I got a letter from my former downstairs neighbor. They actually asked us to stop walking around in our bedroom!!! My husband and I are the quietest people and go out of our way to be even more quiet cuz we don’t like bothering people. If you can’t stand common noises while living in an apt then don’t live in one!! It was a passive aggressive letter and I still have it. I kept it for when I need a good laugh.

@@JessicaO490Z I totally understand that and that is why we always tried to be as quiet as possible but asking us to pretty much not do anything is kinda silly. If the slightest noise bothers you that much then get an apt on the top. I do appreciate your point, though.

I guess they couldn’t top baby crying.

Similar to the first story, Myhusband was a giant red flag from the first day of marriage. Thank goodness the first woman had no children. I’m so happy for you! Quick story, as soon as we set our vows, we got on a plane and went to our honeymoon. That night, we were supposed to go out and grab food because we slept on the plane. The plane ride was about three hours so we had a good nap. He said absolutely not. He was not hungry. He didn’t want food so I went and got food on my own, which was a risky decision because we were in Vegas and I was young and beautiful by myself. But I made it upstairs and went to bed after I ate. Of course, I brought him some food too. He never ate it and then later blamed me for not eating. This is my first red flag. The next day came and went and it was nighttime and we went to a show and while we were there, I felt like it was inappropriate and wanted to leave. We were down in Vegas and he literally left me. He left me because I asked him to hold my shoes because they hurt. I was a little tipsy and had to walk all the way down by myself. I was terrified because I was in a short skirt for Myhusband myself young attractive woman. I was young and dumb and already married. But at this very moment, I considered an anollment. We stayed there for one week and when I got home, I was already pregnant. I could feel it and I knew it. Four weeks later I tested a very faint line and on the sixth week I was definitely pregnant. Since I just gotten married, I was excited to have a baby then all kinds of things happened after. He has never changed his behavior or silent treatment. When things are good, they’re great but second I need something it’s awful. I have been married to him 11 years and I’m trying to get out. he has managed to isolate me and leave me to do everything and it is terrifying. I have had one heckuva decade so wish me luck on leaving. It is very hard with kids.

I was roommates with my best friend and her older brother and sister like ten years ago. The brother is a DJ and rapper and spends his time off producing and recording music. It was fine until his headphones broke. Then we all knew exactly how far along he was into building each song because all hours of the day were him running through the tracks over and over and over again. It was worse when he worked a late night event because he would play the music at a low enough decibel where he could hear with his fresh from a loud event ears. Meaning he could barely hear it, but it blared through all the walls of the house. We took turns begging him to turn it down and he would while tweaking it, but would turn it up to hear the songs all the way through then turn it back down to tweak them. We were all broke so he couldn’t afford the headphones he wanted, so we all suffered for months. When Christmas came, the family pooled money to get him his headphones and if I remember right, he only got like two other gifts. Considering we all usually got one gift per person, some from various friends, and one from their parents, I know that everyone considered this his gift and punishment. 😂

I saw one story where this guy had insanely loud neighbors. They slammed the door in his face when he tried to be civil and talk about it. They kept going and he was just about going crazy from lack of sleep. So he came up with a plan. He turned on his guitar amp and turned it as far up as he could. Then he plugged in his guitar, set it on top of the amp and left for work. 10 hours of the loudest feedback you've ever heard. It worked.

I would venture to say that she knows she didn’t actually get divorced over a burger, you can tell that it’s said in a joking manner. Kind of like when I was 7 months pregnant and running a 102.6 fever and asked my husband to take me to the hospital. I was so sick. ( It was his car and he would never let me use it by myself ) He said “not right now” because his football game was on and some friend that he went to school with was on the team and he wanted to watch him play. He literally made me wait until the game was over. Pregnant and all. That was it for me. It was one thing to abuse me, but a whole nother to neglect our child. I always joked that if it wasn’t for that football game, I’d have never left/got a divorce. 😂
