My children and i were in a store when tornado sirens went off, we were locked in a freezer with a woman panicking and crying, my children walked up to her and asked if they could hug her. As someone with PTSD and Panic Disorder (because of my PTSD), my first thought isn't to grab my phone and start recording myself it is usually to try and calm myself down and get to a "safe" place. People who do this shit for clout make those of us with real problems look bad and then no one believes anyone who has a service dog actually needs it.
@Hell_Is_My_Domain2 ай бұрын
I agree. I'm working to get a service dog for my anxiety, and I was discussing it with my mom in the lobby of where I go for therapy, and some old dude, like, maybe late 50s, told me that I don't have anxiety and that I need to grow up and grow a pair. @greenginger66685 ай бұрын
@@sniperfoxxx6543 it’s definitely a service dog. Psychiatric service animals are real service animals that are trained to perform tasks for their handler who has a mental disorder/ disability. What you see the dog doing in the video is called deep pressure therapy, it’s a task a lot of PSAs are trained to do for the exact purpose you see in the video. It’s also something service dogs that are trained to assist with stress related disabilities to decrease their handlers heart rate and calm them down.
@TheAwesomes21045 ай бұрын
@@greenginger6668I am a service dog handler, and I have been attacked several times in stores, all by little froufrou dogs. One attack was brutal enough that my service dog had to go through extensive retraining, as he was traumatized by small dogs. I was traumatized as well, mostly by the fact that I am not safe anywhere I go, least of which in grocery stores. I'm hypervigilant, I make my dog stay so I can walk around corners first, using myself as a human shield in case it happens again, and always listening and watching people around me. The first attack happened when I was paying attention to shopping and my dog was paying attention to me, neither of us saw it coming. The other 2 happened when we walked around a corner and met the attacker unexpectedly. Sometimes when I see a dog in a store, that is clearly not behaving properly or is labeled ESA, I'll just leave. Often I'll stop on the way out and tell management why I don't feel comfortable and am going to shop elsewhere. I've had a couple managers take my discomfort and concerns extremely seriously. I tell them, when you get attacked, and we do, the lawyers tells us to sue everyone, the dog owner, the store, the management, everybody. Because 90% of these animals attacking should have never been allowed in by the staff in the first place. One of the dogs that attacked my SD was clearly labeled ESA. When I asked why they were not stopped and questioned (2 legal questions are "Is this a service animal required for a disability?" and "What work or task has the dog been trained to perform." The management told me it was an ESA, so they had to let it in. I informed them it is a health code violation to allow ESA's in, because the law that allows animals in ONLY covers service animals. Letting people bring ESA's into food establishments is legally identical to letting any old pet dog in. They also said they were afraid of getting sued for asking any questions... They were afraid of getting sued for doing something legal, while illegally allowing pets in, who attack people, who then create victims who not only sue them, but win. They are more afraid of a frivolous lawsuit that will quickly be thrown out than a legitimate lawsuit with substantial damages and obvious negligence on their part. I'll never understand it. It's really sad how ignorant of the laws most places and people are. A ton of these attacks could be prevented if businesses just did their jobs. It's not that hard, honestly. All they have to do is ask the 2 questions of people with unlabeled dogs, and remove unruly dogs. Even if an animal is a legitimate service animal, if it becomes disruptive or dangerous, the business can remove them. Once my dog got horrible diarrhea in a grocery store. I asked for some stuff to clean it up and they, very respectively asked me to just get my dog out as fast as I could, until he was feeling better. They didn't have to ask me twice, that was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, but shit happens. If there's a legitimate safety concern, they can remove service animals.

I think it just some sort of weird ocd thing that I feel like I can’t proceed in a situation without recording cause it makes me feel unsafe idk it’s weird. But posting it ONLINE!? Sometimes I don’t even look back at the majority of the videos I take 💀 like that’s embarrassing and majority of the video you can’t even see anything bc I too focused on what’s happening rather than what my phone sees 😭 I also record bc I start wondering what I saw really real or not bc when my anxiety started with bugs I thought I was going crazy all the time. I genuinely hate people the fake disorders and romanticize them. Like why do people want others struggles so much!? Lots of little red flags in that message. Never pay money to get money Sadly, this one has enough detail about the 'program' that you might not think twice about sending the 'small shipping fee." Some stop there, others keep coming up with 'international fees' 'inspection fees' 'to release from customs fee'. They will drop you as soon as you call them out, and you'll be out however much you sent, with nothing to show for it.

I used to work somewhere that trained service and therapy dogs. When I was flying in the US one time, I saw a woman with a "service dog" vest which was barking at people who walked past and trying to attack them. It was a tiny dog so wasn't going to 'actually' do anything, but I instantly knew "Yeah, no registered service dog would be behaving like that. She's just bought a vest on WISH so she could try take her pet dog on the plane". Thankfully, she was not on my flight otherwise I would've told the staff "I'm not getting on that plane with that fake 'service' dog"

I think some of the service dog issue is that even though there are signs at places to say service dogs only allowed in the store, but the stores won’t reprimand the people who bring in pet dogs. The reason why that could be distressing is because pets aren’t held to a training standard and can distract or even attack service dogs. I’ve seen service dog owners say that if a place is pet friendly, it is not service dog friendly.

@@erikarussell1142not in the US. Every state in the US follows the ADA laws for service animas, meaning ANYONE is allowed to ask two questions - 1. Is that a service dog? And 2- what tasks are they trained to do. So yes, businesses are infact being lazy and not asking out of fear due to miseducation.
@badkitty49225 ай бұрын
Here's the thing when it comes to Service Dogs: proprietors are legally allowed to ask 3 questions about the dog. 1: is he/she a licensed and registered Service Dog. 2: has he/she been trained to perform specific tasks to aid you in your life. 3: What are those tasks. Not one of these questions attacks the validity of the SD's handler's needs. Not one question is invasive and asks what disability the handler has (that's illegal. And plenty of disabilities ARE invisible). Not one of these questions is meant against a true SD owner/handler. They're meant to trip up the fakes who just buy a vest and throw it on their dog with no regards to the general public around them. Service Dogs are considered necessary medical equipment and are protected by the AMA, Veteran's Rights Act, and other important government entities. They're protected as much as a colostomy bag, artificial limb, and insulin pump are. They're living, breathing, medical/mental health equipment. And are registered as such. SD's go through rigorous training (as does their handler) from puppy hood to not only learn their jobs/tasks, but to learn how to take care of their human, how to ignore the people and other dogs around them (staying focused on their human and their work), how to smell when their human's blood sugar is off, heart rate is wrong, anxiety is getting high, or a PTSD episode is coming. These dogs know that once their vest goes on, they're at WORK. And they don't break from routine unless their human takes off that vest for break/play time for a while, then puts it back on once break time is over. They're not guard dogs, but part of their job might be not letting anyone near their human, whether an anxiety attack is happening or not. There's a LOT to know about REAL SDs.😉👍😘💖🫂🐾🐾

two things i immediate thought of: triggers come in all shapes and sizes so its possible small dogs/poms are a trigger for her but her larger dog isnt; and small dogs can still be aggressive, bite,or at least bark. like people with dog phobias often get their anxiety dismissed with "but my dog is so little/friendly!" i dont think you're trying ot be mean or anything, just giving a couple suggestions for why people could be afraid of little breeds. :) i mean my own lil pooch is the sweetest, gentlest dog in the universe who likes and gets along with EVERYONE but i still keep an eye out for dogs who dont like dogs, or people/kids who dont. in which case i leash my doggy close, and ask if i need to move or what have you.

I'm a service dog handler and I'd like to say a few things. 1. Thank you Charlotte for not making any assumptions. It is almost impossible to know whether someone has a disability or is having an episode from an online video. Of course there are fakes out there, but without more information, you just don't know. 2. Many people do record their episodes for many reasons. Safety in case something happens, to review training, to track progress, and just to have something to look back on. As my girl is getting older, I'm valuing these videos and pictures more and more. 3. There is a lot of negativity and posing in the online service dog community. We don't need more. Of course if the person is spreading misinformation or breaking laws, that's one thing. But if you see a video and think it's fake or stupid, it's best to just move on. 4. Also, service dog handlers are not immune to having a fear of other people's dogs. And unfortunately, the little dogs like in the video have been more likely to freak out at the sight of my working girl. A reactive dog of any size is not fun to deal with

I can see someone having a panic attack even if their dog wasn't a service dog. No one knows if a dog you don't know is capable of. My son adopted a dog from the shelter. Quite a large dog. They had it for 3 weeks and the dog was great around people, until one day, the neighbor's dog came into their yard. My son's dog snapped and actually ate the neighbor's dog. My son was trying to get his dog to stop. He even resorted to punching it in the face and kicking his dog to get it off the neighbor's dog. His dog disemboweled the neighbor's dog. My son returned it to the shelter, but tell me how the shelter didn't know that the dog was aggressive with other dogs!!! Thank goodness his small children were with me and didn't witness it or were hurt themselves. My son was covered with blood and innards, he had nightmares for months. So, I can definitely see someone having a panic attack.

It is difficult to have your service dog in public when others bring their "emotional support pets" into public places that only allow service animals. Service Dogs are working and have a hard time alerting to their handler's medical needs if they have to fend off a non-working dog that interferes or becomes aggressive. I can understand how seeing another dog possibly acting out of control would trigger anxiety or panic, and no one can really quantify what that feels like for someone else. Just because you can't see what it looks like doesn't mean it doesn't exist and a person isn't suffering.

2 things First. As a service dog user the reason we record shit during episodes is for legal reasons. Especially for those who pass out or have seizures. Our dogs alert us before it happens so we can get to a safe place and a lot of times set up a camera either to someone or to record. Helps keeps us safe because people are freaks but they tend to not do creepy shit when there is a camera involved. It also helps us show our doctors what happens during our episodes. For myself I can literally pass out and black out. If I’m alone I like to record what happens so I can relate to my doctors who are still trying to figure out what is causing all this for me. (That all being said, that girl 100% was doing this for attention and we hate people like her in the real SD community, that Pom did nothing, it shouldn’t have been in the store and as someone who’s had their SD attacked by a pet in a grocery story before I hate those entitled owners so much. But that dog didn’t do anything the girl 100% faked) Second. As someone who had a hate page made of her with photoshopped messages to make me seem like the villain in the story I can get why that girl went nuts. If I didn’t have my family and close friends around when it happened to me I’m not sure I’d still be here today. It’s hard when multiple people are telling you to go off yourself
@Mewse12035 ай бұрын
As a person with panic attacks, you generally dont have a lot of presence of mind to think. You're legit in freakout mode. And I don't qualify for a service dog. If your attacks are so bad you qualify for a service dog, I can't see you having the necessary ability to stop and think about your phone in the middle of thinking you're going to die. It's fight, flight, or freeze, not fight. Flight freeze or pull out your phone and start recording.

I mean I definitely think this one is faked but I've recorded symptoms before once I know what they feel like right before hand. But yeah she doesn't look like she's in freak out mode at all.
@abbynormal47405 ай бұрын
Having a video to document symptoms can be quite useful for future reference. But recording yourself in the midst of an actual episode is impractical to impossible. When a rapidly escalating asthma attack strikes, the #1 & ONLY priority is to restore breathing function. It's challenging enough to load and start the nebulizer with hypoxia, tremors and tunnel vision. While you're just trying to stay alive and conscious, you're using a phone to call 911 - NOT capturing video to post to your socials. 😮💨😮💨

I know this is long but I had a lot of information to say: As a service dog owner, I want to point out a couple of things. Although I personally never film, it isn't uncommon to film for doctors as well as for some social media page. There is no shortage of "Service Dog Handler" pages, and a lot of times those pages can be very helpful, but just like any other group, there are people who just want publicity. I do not know which type of person she is. It is also important to note that some service dogs CAN alert you before the panic attack, seizure, etc. If you were alerted that you are about to have a panic attack and need/want to record the actual panic attack, you would probably look back and forth at your phone and do other weird or seemingly unreasonable things in that heightened state. As for the dog being the reason for the panic attack. That is not unreasonable at all. Especially those small dogs. My service dog is about 65lbs and has been attacked MANY times. Typically the aggressive dogs are small because if you have a small dog barking and biting, no one cares because it is small, and won't do damage. Completely different if it is a large dog. I have paid about $7k in training fees in response to someone else's dog. Also, although in that video that dog may not be barking or lunging IT IS CLEARLY NOT A SERVICE DOG and the owner is acting as it is by bringing it in a store. Owners like that may try to greet your dog with their dog, harrass you, or more. It is awful, and because that girl is younger and seemingly fine, any reaction she has is seen as an overreaction or dramatic. I have a service dog and seeing that dog especially if that dog got that close, I would have left the store because of anxiety.

I love your editor. What program did she use to do that fake cinch in your waist that made you look like a cartoon character? That bounce back was hilarious! 😆

9:58 agreed but from someone who could use a service dog, when I start getting bad, my face doesnt look so calm. Like, Im about to pass the f out and struggling to breath and cant even see strait. If i was gonna record, Id barely be able to hit record, not check the frame rate and all of that. I can get her being in a state and being startled by a person and a dog, but like, your in a public place, you have your animal on your lap, you gotta expect it, its fine. For me it was the calm back and forth between the camera. That was so weird. She didnt look distressed or bothered at all. Idk. Maybe its just me.

The Guru Jagat one made me laugh. She's a lady who preaches energy and high vibrations yet she ends up contradicting herself by being selfish and petty.
