Bravo! “Cake Karen” was a great acting audition tape; perfect lighting, perfect makeup, dynamic dialogue, good camera angle, etc, etc. The Karen demanding the cake flubbed her lines but it was still very nice that she volunteered to do the bit. I don’t doubt this never happened, just not that way. Next time tone down the “truck-driver” language (“Suzy cake-bakers” rarely “MF” anyone) and maybe have something going awry; the dog barking in the bkgrnd, a baby crying… yeah that‘s it! Let the phone ringing at 1:00am wake the baby and let your irate husband do all the swearing when he stubs his toe as he stumbles out of bed to quiet the kid b/c the light was off (add a subplot for future development.) Meanwhile, you can calmly keep the demanding Karen on the phone as you trace her number for a future “hit.” _Hey, even Scorsese started somewhere!_ 😂

I had the cheese thing happen to me once when I was managing a restaurant. The lady came to the restaurant and threw the food at me saying there wasn't any extra sauce. I very slowly removed the sauce container and placed it on the counter in front of her. This humiliated her, which made her even more furious. It was probably the funniest interaction I've had in my 15 years of food service.

I worked in a stationery store and a woman wanted to return 4 boxes of Christmas cards that she didn't use. The store's policy was either exchange or store credit--annoying, to be sure, but it was right there on a sign at the check out counter and written on the receipt itself. She was yelling at me as if I had any power to give her the cash she wanted. There was no manager on hand, but I gave her the manager's card and told her that it would actually help to have her write or talk to the manager since it would give us tangible evidence when advocating for a change in the policy with corporate. But people like that don't actually care about long term improvements that help everybody. Anyway, she was holding up the line and announced, "I'm never setting foot in here again!" It gave me SO much pleasure to stand there and say, blandly, "So you'll be going with an exchange rather than store credit, then?" The person behind her caught it and gave me a wink, but I managed to keep my face neutral. Still a satisfying memory, 30 years later! 😂

This is what drove me crazy doing takeout at a restaurant- they would waste so many plastic containers separately packaging “extra” portions of sauces, toppings, etc. Because of people like this who refuse to believe they are getting what they want without a visual cue. I once had a Karen at my job who would talk over me, yelling "i have rights! I have rights!!". It had been a long shift so before my customer service brain could kick in, I gave her some fake enthusiasm and asked if she had lefts too. Karen was too flabbergasted to respond and I heard my manager choke on his coffee. Manager had to step in once he recovered cause she was absolutely irate once she recovered.

I ones had an older gentleman backing up his car Infront of mine in a parking lot outside a grocery store. His towbar dented my front license plate....the poor guy was chattered (because of the little dent on my license plate on my then 15 years old car) .... I told him that there was no harm done.....told him like a million times to not worry about it. (His car was ok to). We both went on our separate ways.....when I came back a few minutes later, the old man and his adorable little wife came out from the grocery store with a bar of chocolate and insisted that I have it as "compensation" for being so nice to them ❤. That is how you deal with small incidents in parking lots!

Sometimes being a "Karen" is absolutely what's needed. When my daughter was first born, I lived in a mother and baby unit. It was a secure building so you needed a key fob or someone to buzz you in. There was a trades button that would allow access from 9am - 5pm. Once a year a guy would come and test the communal fire alarms, we would be notified by a letter a few weeks before, but the guy would go round and knock on the day just incase any of us forgot. That was always done between 9 & 5. One morning, around 7/7.30. All the fire alarms go off in the whole building. We had no letter to say anything was due, and no knock. It woke us up so we were a little disorientated. Woke my daughter up who promptly screamed. I checked my phone and saw the time and panicked knowing it wasn't the right time for a anual safety check so gathered up my daughter and headed out. At the bottom of the stairs were a group of 15 men, all in suits and ties staring up at the switch board while a guy in overalls was pushing switches. So I kicked off, I looked like a witch. I had a newborn, I was sleep deprived, I had rushed out so hadn't brushed my hair and had hurried to put on a dressing gown that I didn't realise had spit up from my baby. I looked a sight. But you'd best believe I stomped down those stairs told the lot of them to F off and threw every single one of them out. When the office opened at 9am I had some strong words for them too, except no one there knew anything about it. I later found out that the guy in overalls knew my mum, and that he told her there was a witch living in the same building as her daughter 😆 😆 😆 yes sir..... I be that witch!! They never did come back 😆!!

Honestly - that really wasn't a "Karen" reaction in my opinion. This was a reaction that many people would have done....especially since you weren't aware of this testing and you had a baby and were sleep deprived. To me Karens are usually those that overreact and are just very 'bitchy' with a negative attitude and in the end are wrong. You reacted like a mom. Maybe there should be names we come up with for this kinda situation a "Karen with a valid reason for Karening" LOL

my daughter (31) is a young widow (husband taken during the pandemic in late 2020) and has 3 young kids (all under 7). she started renting a house last Sept. the neighbor on one side is an older woman who also houses her mother. my daughter met her when she moved in and they got to know each others stories. this nice woman mows my daughters lawn whenever she mows her own, usually once a week. I'm so grateful that there are people out there that are this nice to others.

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. I’m glad your daughter has found herself with a good neighbour. I know how precious that can be. When my husband left (10 years ago now) he emptied the small amount of money in our bank account and left me with two young kids (6 and 9) to try and figure out how to live on nothing for a week or so while I got sorted out with benefits (UK). My next door neighbour, a couple around the age of my parents left a big bag of food at my front door because the knew that firstly I would never ask and if they offered I would be likely to not accept (the would usually have been right but at that moment in time I was desperate. They were such a support for me emotionally for the next two years until I was forced to move. I’m thankful to also have fantastic neighbours now as my health deteriorates further and I’m now in a wheelchair relying on carers coming in to help me wash and dress etc. I know there will always be at least one neighbour I can call for help in an emergency. I’m so thankful.

I made a similar mistake as the sandwich karen, but I walked into the store and said "Hi, there's supposed to be an X in this, but I can't see it. Is there a chance it fell out or am I being dumb?" in a very polite, friendly tone. The man in the store opened the box and showed me where the thing was. I then laughed and said "Well, I've been stupid before and I'm sure it will happen again" and thanked the man and apologised for disturbing him. That is how to resolve a situation like that!

As someone who witnessed the real reason not to lean on the glass in a jewelry store. That glass isn't very thick, too much weight and that glass is sure to shatter. No one wants to clean your preschooler sticky handprints, let alone your blood. If an employee tells you not to do something, it might be a great idea to listen.

But who even gets that mad about a fricking sandwich! The only time I have ever gone back to the counter at a fast food place was when I got someone else's order completely and that was mostly so I could give it to whoever it actually belonged to. As someone who’s had to take/send back food on many occasions, due to allergies, I always feel incredibly embarrassed and uncomfortable and I make up for it by over-apologising even though it isn’t my fault. I get the change in tone as she realizes she was wrong and began to explain herself/make excuses, because sometimes I have to explain my emotions to people so they can understand where I'm coming from. BUT to not apologize first? Own it. Apologize profusely, admit you assumed the worst, then explain yourself. I've worked that type of job before and I've witnessed cops come in 1 too many times. But the best ones were people who could admit that they were wrong. They'd get mad, apologize and tell us the real reason they're upset then come back later.

People call up in a rage because armchairs were delivered without legs when they are actually stored in a compartment within the chair seat for transit. We do make a note of the, but people don’t pause to think - they notice a lack, and react. Most are apologetic and/or grateful when they realise, which is always fine with me - I get it - but you get the odd one like the lady in the video who starts to flounder/explain but comes back to being angry and shouting all over again, even though the problem is solved.

My grandfather owned a jewelry store when my dad was younger and my dad was the one responsible for cleaning all of the display cases after people touched them all day. Whenever we went somewhere with similar display cases, he was very insistent that we don't touch them so we didn't create more work for the staff.

You would've been my favorite customer. I worked in a jewelry store for almost 3 years while I was in college, and cleaning the cases was the bane of my existence 🙃 The number of times people came in RIGHT before closing and leaned on the glass and touched the glass and I just sat there dying inside. Like, believe it or not, you can look at jewelry without touching the glass! Also, incase anyone doesn't believe it, but malls do in fact have codes of conduct and we in fact can ask people to not touch things in the store or lean on glass. Also, the glass is strong, but people can in fact break the glass by leaning on it. Saw it happen once and let me tell you, replacing the glass cost that person a pretty penny 🙃

Ironically enough, my neighbor's name is Karen and she's the sweetest person! She claims our son as her grandbaby and spoils him absolutely rotten. She bought us tickets to take him to Paw Patrol live last month and even sent souvenir money. A couple of weeks ago I had to have my rear brakes, rotors, and calipers replaced and she gave me half the cost for the parts when I ordered them to do them myself. I tried to refuse multiple times but she hid the money in a bag of toys she bought my son, "just because", and refused to take it back. My family all lives out of state so it's wonderful to have a pseudo-mom/great friend right next door. We love our Karen neighbor! 😊😊

She has some sort of genetic thing where she's short in stature (~4½' iirc) but it's not dwarfism and she has some other health issues related to the condition. We met her when we used to have to go to the laundromat to use the dryers, before we got our son, and she's positivity lovely. She doesn't get many trick-or-treaters so we make sure to visit her as she's older and lives alone. She taught our son to do the thumbs up sign when he was younger when we ran into one another at Walmart and now he does it all the time. 😂

The neighbour one is crazy 🤪. We’ve had some interesting neighbours in our time but seriously! Our current neighbour is a single guy and we mutually take in each other’s packages, handle the refuse collection when the other one is away, take turns mowing the communal areas of the lawn. Often he looks after his partner’s dog when they’re away on business (he also has a dog) and because the two of them together are a handful, I help walk the dogs too. His dog demands to be escorted to our door every evening when my husband gets home from work and my husband always gives him a slice of ham 😂. It’s so rewarding to get along, people!! I live in the southwest. In my town we are blessed with an actual French baker. The man could make me fat with zero regrets. When I got married, he asked me what I liked. I said white cake, lemon curd and fruit. He showed up with a simple white fondant covered glamor cake. Fresh fruit covered in fine sugar looked like a bouquet down one side. Everyone had the polite piece. Many went back for seconds. When we were cleaning things up, every female family member and all the children regressed to animals devouring this cake by the handful. The baker was happy his cake was well received. Best cake I have ever had. None of it survived. It was a gigglefest of epic proportions.

​@@ERivera-we7jg My dad has Parkinsons, but has very little tremor. It comes out when he overworks himself and his muscles get weak, or with fine motor control, like operating a smartphone. If you just saw him walking around he'd look like your average old guy with a cane (spinal degeneration). Parkinsons isn't necessarily obvious and has a lot of side effects beyond the tremor like muscle weakness, anger outbursts, difficulty handling stress, memory problems, etc. It can very much be an invisible illness with symptoms closer to dementia or Alzheimers, and while it's often caught later in life there are plenty of people diagnosed younger, especially if there is family history.

I worked at a gas station for a couple years. Super rural one where you knew most people. A real piece of work came in with his wife. They opened their drinks before paying, so I asked, “hey it’s okay this time, but next time can you wait until payment is approved before opening your bottle drinks.” He immediately started yelling at me, cussing me out, saying he and his family kept us in business. Said he knew the owner and was calling her about me. I just kept telling them to leave and that as long as it was me working they would not be allowed in until further notice. The wife was mostly laughing the whole time which was awful. I was 6 months pregnant at the time, so it immediately made me cry when they left. He called the owner.. who was my mom. I worked there for her. She called and we talked about it. Not sure what she told him, but until I stopped working he never came in during my shift that I can recall. People like that are the worst.

I feel your pain. While in college I worked at various fast food restaurants. One day a guy in a Suburban rolled up to the drive-thru window and yells out, "Where are my fries, Chief?!" I told him there would be ready in one minute. Then, he started complaining loudly and angrily about how long he was in line, and he blamed me personally for it. It was a game day, the football stadium was a few blocks away, and everyone was getting food. We were swamped. All he wanted was a large order of french fries. I took his money, and just as I started to get his french fries he yelled at me, "Hey, BUDDY, make sure those fries are salted! GOT IT?!" I assure you that those fries were thoroughly salted. The best part of all this was that he didn't order a drink. He only bought salted french fries. Lesson for others: Never call anyone "buddy" unless that person is truly your buddy, and never call anyone "chief" unless that person plays for Kansas City or he or she is an executive police officer or fireman or the leader of an actual Native American tribe.

We don’t have a driveway, so the only way in/out is the gravel alley. My mom is older and it’s hard for her to shovel the sidewalk. Just to add: I once worked in a KFC, and a customer, dining in, had claimed that there was a bug on her meal. She even took photos and complained to KFC. The big bosses checked the camera footage and found that the woman had planted the bug there herself, so that probably resulted in a letter sent saying, "we have reviewed the security footage, and we have seen you plant the insect. In our store bakery, we make the donuts dough. One customer brought it back the next day complaining there was a fingernail it in. You could obviously tell it wasn't in the actual donut, just on top of the chewed piece. Another was a hair in the cak, which we don't make in store. The hair was just wrapped around the chewed piece

I have a similar story - some people really try it on, don't they? My aunt owns a fairly popular pub that serves food. One day, a group of 4 women came in and ordered. They got to the point where there was maybe 2 bites left on each plate, then started screaming and kicking off. There was "hair in all the meals" and they wanted them for free, as well as free drinks for the "distress caused". Two problems with this: 1) The hair was blonde. The women were blonde. I was the one cooking - I am not blonde. The waitress was not blonde. In fact, nobody working that day was blonde and none of the regular kitchen staff were blonde, so it can't have come from us. 2) The CCTV clearly showed them placing their own hair in the food. My cousin was managing that day and was being yelled at. I think they figured if they surrounded her and continued to shout and threaten, she wouldn't be able to check anything and would just give them their money back to make them go away. But that's not how we roll as a family... I walked over, explained the two points above, told them they were not getting a penny back and that, if they didn't leave immediately and never come back, I would report them to the police for attempted fraud and extortion (they were threatening to write bad reviews if we didn't give them the money back). My cousin added in that they were all barred. For life. The shouting turned to silence as I logged into the CCTV on my phone and played it on the big screen (usually reserved for sports) so they (& everyone else) could see we had them bang to rights. It was so satisfying watching them walk out in shame 😂 The regulars heckled them and they had nothing to say back, so they just told everyone to f off. We circulated the CCTV to all the other local establishments, and we weren't the first they'd hit. Some people are so cheap... Like, if you're going to embarrass yourself, do it for something valuable - not a bill that worked out to be about £30 each... They just have no self respect or dignity 🙄😂

When I was young I worked in a very large pizza place in a city in the Northeast. They sold lots of other (good) food too, but their specialty was pizza. The place was an institution, they did an amazing business, the owners were millionaires. One day I waited on a table and the couple were demanding, dismissive--- just rude. They didn't finish their pizza and asked for a doggie box. I gave it to them, they departed but left the box as people often do. The bus boy asked about it, we typically just throw them out but I had a feeling...I told him to put it in the kitchen, if they weren't back in 15-20 minutes to chuck it. They came back an *hour later* and demanded it. I told them we held onto it for a bit but then tossed it. They threw an absolute hissy fit and were berating me loudly. The Manager heard and came over. They told him I had thrown out their leftovers and demanded we cook them a whole new pizza to take home. He told them "If we hung onto every leftover box people leave behind we'd be swimming in them." They continued to demand a new pizza, he said "Absolutely not!" They then threatened to notify the owners...wait for it...he said, "No need, I am the Manager---and ALSO THE OWNER---GET THE HELL OUT OF MY RESTAURANT AND DON'T COME BACK!!" 😂😂 It was -*-beautiful.-*- The owners (2 brothers) and sometimes their wives, actually worked right along side us and they did not take crap from -*-anyone,-*- and they didn't allow people to abuse their staff. They were -*-awesome.-*- Bob (the older brother) used to say "The customer is always right---HA! They're almost -*-never-*- right--- *I'm* always right!! We had a lot of fun and it was a great place to work (made good $ too)!! I don't know why there's lines through some of my comment?

In regards to the "package stealing" video, I've had someone knock on my door with MY OPEN PACKAGE and he openly admitted that he opened it and wanted to see what was inside, when he realized it was for a child, he decided he didn't want it anymore and was giving it back. He stole it 2 weeks prior to this too. lol

My granddaughter opened a package thinking it was for her because I had ordered her something from the same store. She said "It's not the right scent". I had her look at the address and it was our neighbors. She ran it over there and apologized for having opened it. The neighbor said "This must be yours then" and handed her the box. It had been opened and the lotion had been used. My granddaughter and son have lived with me since we moved in 7 years before. My granddaughter has been over their house a million times as they have a granddaughter 1 year older than her. My granddaughter has a unique name and the package was addressed to her, with the correct address. I found out from another neighbor that she was going to give it to her granddaughter if mine hadn't come looking for it because she had already spent a large inheritance she had gotten, not realizing she couldn't still collect her deceased husband's social security as well as her own after she finally told the government he had passed almost a year earlier. She owed a lot of money back to the government because she was using his check to pay bills and spending the life insurance money and her check buying things she wanted and cars for her kids and handing out money to every relative that asked.

When my husband and I got married, my brother in law organised a dessert table as a wedding present and that was MORE POPULAR than the wedding cake included for our catering for our guests (this was in a a Chinese restaurant).

I work at a store bakery with a cake display and a donut display. Let me tell you ppl are gross and inconsiderate For the cake display, ppl of course put their hands all over the glass. But when I open the case to clean it, they put their faces right next to the cakes. They try to smell them and they try to touch the cakes to taste the cakes to see if it's buttercream or whipped cream even though cake descriptions are displayed. For the donuts, they pick it up with their hands and put it back. They sample it and put it back. I have a trash can right next to the display case that is never full because ppl will leave trash all over the case. If you don't want a donut DONT PUT IT BACK. GIVE IT TO ME SO I CAN SHRINK IT AND TOSS IT

Fun fact, I work in a bakery for a grocery store (won’t say which) ALL bakeries in grocery stores, regardless of chain, have cakes come in frozen. They don’t bake it themselves. They decorate it, but they don’t bake it.

I just wanted to share about a very sweet neighbor I used to have because he deserves the recognition. From the time we moved in next door, before we had ever even met him, he would plow our driveway every time it snowed in the winter, and mowed our lawn in the spring and summer. There were many times in the winter when our driveway would be plowed before the roads were. It took us a while to even figure out who was doing it. He never asked for anything in return, would even refuse payment, just did it out of the kindness of his heart. We were so sad when he passed a few years later. He was just one of those selfless people that shined a light on everyone he met and didn't even realize the impact he had on others.

Lady with the yard and property issue, I feel for her 100%. We had a contractor that was working on our neighbors yard clearing out trees and his plan was to put the cleared trees in our backyard. We didn't notice until he was done and because it was in a wooded part of the yard. Later, when we told them to move it, they said they said those were our trees that had fallen.....like what.

Exactly. She's not wrong that some literal lines needed to be drawn in the "sand" before this kind of thing happens. Property lines are usually painted to ensure things stay on the right side of the line and with the correct buffer inside the property line. I'm sure this neighborhood has zoning or HOA rules that don't allow the removal of trees all of the way to the property line. It's MASS, there are definitely strict regulations.

I had a cake made last month. I called her in December and asked her about it. I needed it for the middle of April, touched base with her in March and again the first week of April. We stayed in contact from there till they met me out to drop it off with me. She was so lovely and the cake was the best I had ever eat! I'll absolutely be ordering from her again! She was fantastic! She could probably had done a cake over night if I had got in touch with her the morning before, not 9 at night. But I myself would have never expected someone to do something like that. Keep it classy!

I too have one amazing neighbor. Although his wife isn’t the nicest. But he helps everyone one this block. When I first moved in, he cleared the snow from my driveway and always asks if he can help me. He once saw broken glass at our intersection and went out and swept it up. He also would water the neighbors flowers when she was sick and he always took her trash and recycling out. 😢😢😢😊😊😊 we truly don’t deserve him.

I used to be the amazing neighbor. Now I'm the one who needs the help and no one is there, or they are understandably too old. I try not see it as anyone owing me anything, but a little help once in a while would have been nice. You should make it a point to get him something wonderful for holidays. Handmade notes on cut out construction paper with a basket. Those are the people who deserve the extra step. He sounds the best! Maybe ask if you can help him with anything?
