Hi Sarah, have to comment and say how terrific this video is!! I sooooo wish I had you as a preceptor or have seen this when I first got my RN license. My life would have been so much easier, organized better, and waaaaay less stressful and anxiety-filled. It was brutal. You are such a blessing to new nurses everywhere!!! When I get my BSN I hope to be able to teach as you do. Your kindness, patience and smarts shine through our laptops. Keep up the great work. It's appreciated. I hope people see that nursing needs to be mixed with kindness. Not beating down nurses. Thanks for all you do. You are blessed. I have been watching your EKG videos so that I can become certified. It has helped me.

+MercRN Oh wow! Thank you so much for all your encouraging and kind comments you have given me on all my videos. You are a blessing to me, and I'm sure you are a blessing to your patients. Just from your comments I can tell you try to do everything you can to increase your nursing knowledge so you can take that knowledge to the bedside. We need more nurses like this! I'm sorry to hear how difficult it was for you during your first year as a nurse. Yes, it can be so brutal if you don't have the support. I'm so happy I can help others and it is so awesome to see others (like yourself) who want to teach other nurses. I totally agree with you that nursing needs to be mixed with kindness and a teaching heart for other nurses. Thank you again for all your comments....they are such an encouragement to me. I love hearing from you :) -Sarah

Sarah, Thank you so much for all you've done for me! I had to take a year off for health issues. Restarting at the last semester. I'm a retired anesthesiologist. This has been the greatest challenge for me. A total reboot! My biggest challenge has been clinicals. Running into old colleagues with endless questions about what I'm up to. Your videos have helped me organize my thoughts so well. I guess we'll see how well... BTW congrats on your new little man and best wishes for a happy holiday for you and your family!

Sarah, thank you for these cool videos. I like all of them, especially the ones related to SBAR report, new nurse anxiety and time management. Those are so truth that eventually these will come, but we have to keep learning and give ourselve time to develope and get better. I am new and experienced hardship with communication with doctors at first, after a last week of orientation, I felt easy wih that. Now, I feel pretty good of the nursing skills and communication to other team members.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I was just wondering if there a lot of typing involved throughout a day? Would it be hard to handle for a person with carpal tunnel?
@RegisteredNurseRN8 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome :) It depends on your facilities protocol and what type of unit you are working on. Generally, it is a lot of checking boxes and there are nursing notes you have to write (again this depends on where you work...for example ICU nurses chart every hour vs medical surgical nurses chart when an event happens or once during a shift). You will be on the computer a lot as a nurse so you want to take that into consideration. I hope that helps :)

Hi Sarah, thank you for all of your videos. I am a new graduate working in Australia. In Australia, we use a shift plan, which is a timetable, so we know every hour's tasks. But I do feel only shift plan cannot cover enough patients' information and I always make my papers messy not well organized. So can the report chart in your video be used to help nurse drive their whole shift? If not, do you spend a lot of time to transfer the information from the report to the formal charts? And also, when you are working, what are the essential charts that you use to help you finish your routine? For me, for example, I probably only bring handover sheet and a shift plan with me. Thank you so much.

Hello, Is there a difference between LPN and RN nursing notes?
@user-vj9qz3br6l3 жыл бұрын
Most nurses are lazy and bad at charting from my experience, yet when audits occur this is likely the first place they will look.
