Jimmie was inspired by McQueen’s heartwarming moment when he gave up the Piston Cup to Chick Hicks by helping The King finish his final race.

Honestly it seems like MOST 2nd/3rd/4th generation drivers never do well as the first one in their family. But very rarely you get ones that not only do as well, they actually overtake their dad's achievements very quickly. People like Dale Earnhardt Sr, he's one of those rare examples that completely eclipsed and blew away his dad's achievements. Most 2nd gen drivers end up doing what Dale Jr or Kyle Petty did, very respectable careers, a very decent number of race wins, and were clearly great drivers, but it just pales in comparison to what their dad's did But yeah sometimes you get those rare cases. We're seeing it in F1 right now now with Max Verstappen already far outstripping his dad's achievements in motorsports. And we're seeing it here, as good as Bill was, Chase looks like he could be the next 7 time champion. Which is something bill was never really close to, especially after they mandated restrictor plates so he lost all his speed and couldn't draft as well as others. He's an all time legend but his son has already overtaken him in achievements, and I honestly can't imagine Bill could be any happier about that, he wants his son to win much more than he ever wanted himself to win, that much is clear. Chase is looking like by far the best driver this year (2022). The fact this season has the most first time race winners in history since the 2nd season of nascar (which makes sense cos OBVIOUSLY the second season will produce new race winners, it's only the 2nd season, but this year we've already got more new race winners than ever and the season is only halfway gone. And yet despite all that, Chase sits at the top with far more wins this year than anyone else. He's driving phenomenally well It doesn't hurt that there's now far more road courses than ever before, which Chase is an expert in I hope he goes on to win the title this season. He's in such good form, it's annoying that the points will be reset for the playoffs. I hate that nascar does that. The whole season should matter, not just the end of it I mean they're basically saying that the Daytona 500 is irrelevant and not important, by having the playoffs system. Because daytona always comes first in the year long before anything that they deem "important" happens. But hey if anyone can keep that form going it's chase, and it should serve him well in the playoffs. Got a good car, got a good head on his shoulders, already knows what it takes to win a championship, so I'd wish him good luck but I don't think he needs it

He's a true champion. Compare this, Chase's first win, to the race a couple years before where he very very nearly got his first cup race win but was dumped in the last lap by known cunt Denny Hamlin (who then got dumped himself in retaliation cos everyone wanted to see Chase get his first win, so at least Denny didn't gain anything out of it) That's probably why Jimmie Johnson is the 7 time champ and Denny Hamlin has never managed to win a single one

The first win for the 2020 Nascar Cup Series Champion. He got a push from Jimmie Johnson after his first win and he used that momentum from the push to carry Hendrick Motorsports into the future.

And chase is smart when he put it out of gear he must have damaged the motor but not much but he must have saved a corner of fuel

never heard of throwing the car out of gear as a way to keep from wheel hopping. Turns out I learned something from watching NASCAR

I remember watching this race. After Dale Jr. retired a couple years prior i was looking for my next favorite driver. And bam Elliot took that spot in an instant.

Well, I have never heard the crowd cheer that loud for a NASCAR event at Watkins Glen. It has been many... many years! Congratulations to Chase Elliott and HMS. Let us not get to excited just yet. The kid has a long... long way to go. But a win at the Glen is not to bad a place to get a good thing started. I still think that Chevy is struggling to get their cars more competitive this season. The Glen is a tricky place to race, It seems like Chevy has really only been lucky this season or competitive at flat, short, or tricky tracks. Let us hope they are pushing forward in the right direction. Once again congratulations to Chase and everybody at HMS.

Jimmie has never gotten the credit and praise he deserved. Class act by the Only 5 time in a row champion. Chase is the classiest act in nascar now. Hendrick is the man!

Fuck yeah!!! I've been waiting for this moment for two and a half years. His father was my first favorite driver. Then Jeff Gordon was. Now Chase. This should be the first of MANY wins. I need this because Marco Andretti isn't doing much for me lol.
