Was there with my girlfriend & a bunch of people from NYC. Hot day. The bands jammed into the night. Wet Willy (band) was there too, if I recall. Pigpen's organ stood silent, Duane & Berry gone. But they all rocked on & the spirits played their musical games. The Dead & the Allmans playing together. Everybody high on something. Vietnam winding down. another 3 years to the Bicentennial & culture balance, togetherness, but after that a slow march to the Right & an Age of Reaction set in. Love Pax

I was there, still have my whole ticket and my program. Drove there in my yellow 1972 VW Camper with friends. Great Show very HOT that day. There is nothing like a Grateful Dead Show !! We had a watermelon loaded with vodka and a gallon of electric punch.

I was there. It was hot as hell. It was a double-header, and then the two bands jammed. My favorite all time Dead concert. They'd gotten back from Europe and were in top form.

It really cooked that day .My brain as well....Remember the fire hose that they broke out on the infield ? They doused people for hours ! I sat upper deck looking directing at the Dead.I remember seeing nothing but hair, skin, and blue jeans.Over the week-end I went to Madison Square Garden To catch the Dead and Friends w/ John Mayer.I realized it was 43 years ago that I had last seen them.....Where did the time go? Life's a trip.Peace

Too much talent on one stage. Dickey Betts lines are so particular. Guitar player's dream to listen and observe the differences between whilst also the piece as a whole.

A very hot, very wonderful, very long day! Would that there were more like it: my two absolute favorite bands. Together. Had to wait to Watkins Glen to see same.

I love the version of goin down the road feelin bad 1980/05/15 uniondale coliseum with Brent Mylands extremely soulful voice
@wangson6 жыл бұрын
yeah - brent mydland really did have a great voice that really complimented jerry and bob. my favourite keyboard player though remains keith. it's probably based on the idea that he played more actual piano than keyboard.

And after that you might have to get the Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack 5 CD set, cause (besides the amazing music) its got the best sound quality of all the live albums they ever released, in my humble opinion...

@chasefukuoka61 I believe lapter1 meant 07/16/72. This is the correct date for when the Dead played with the Allmans at Dillon stadium. And that show is up on the archive, or some of it anyways.

There were sound towers in the middle of the field and they had guards on top to stop folks from climbing. Didn’t work but anyway I looked up and this 40 year-oldish guard was dancin his ass off to Sugar Mags. Funny as hell.

@lenapter1 - hi... I've got two links in the area below the video, one to the audio streaming at live archive, the other to the soundboards where they can be downloaded. Both are listed as 6-10-73. Errors are always possible, but that's the info I have. It's possible that your story is true as well, just it was a different show. Have you found audio for 6/16/72?

6/10/73 Allman Bros.& The Dead played in Washington D.C. I was there and have a 6 CD box set of same concert. You mentioned 6/16 72, ,almost a year earlier... You must have your dates mixed up...

It’s too bad nobody took any seriousness into what the future would bring with health and along the way many have left us if they slowed down before it catches up it’s kind of stupid how nobody cared but by the time they did too late David Crosby called it stupid things we did for the love of the party as he was recovering from a second liver transplant
