title would of been "fish dragged me 18 miles out to sea and got eaten by sharks". That is awesome you tried, go big or go home, that would of been the 2-3 million view video. I might try for some albacore soon. Props on letting go the rock fish at the end, always nice to show the audience its okay to let keeper fish go.

BFT still here, Albacore? water temp isn't right got to warm forcing them north towards Oregon on the fukushima current. Also the Daiichi report post the Fukushima disaster might indicate that the Albacore need TLC as well. Fukushima fckd up waters more than anyone wants to believe,

I use a length of black tubing as a gaff guard. Tie it with the long length facing toward your gaff handle on the back side of the gaff. That way when you uncover the gaff point the tubing does not get in the way of the point of the gaff. You will never lose it like that tennis ball because it is permanents attached to the gaff.

IT would make sense to pair up with a BFT boat then launch the kayak after finding jumpers. The stealth approach would be in your favor and second you would have some support to deal with a BFT after the catch. This method has worked in several world wide locations why not Central-Nor cal.

I tried to do the same about 8years ago. Ended up catching a 5ft. Thresher. Trying to get it on the kayak was the scariest 5minutes of my life. Ended up losing my paddle due to his long tail. Floated for roughly a mile before a boat saw me and helped. Best time of my life! Still got the urge to do it again. Pics are up on my ig

Adam; nice laid back video with lots of technical informational commentary. WOW! I really like the looks of your new gear; especially the hali rod, it looked like a sensitive tip, backbone, and lots of eyes. Although recently some have said gear doesn't matter much when bottom fishing. If you use that rod on salmon I don't think you would have to pedal much for pressure/tension. You can't catch a big one if you don't try. Stay Safe

Is that monterey? I caught a 154 pound blue fin with J@M fishing about a half a mile off shore of pebble. It was a 2 and a half hour fight, and all 6 of us on the boat took turns battling it. Bro if you would've hooked in up on your kayak you probably would've end up in Hawaii.

I like the moxie but have you ever caught a big bluefin? Only fish to ever kick my ass. Trust me, I’d highly recommend that: 1) jump on a boat in SoCal and experience bluefin tuna fishing from a sport boat (if you have not already done so) so you know what your up against; 2) always fish with a buddy yak or boat (better) when targeting tuna (trust me, you will need the help); and 3) have a boat ready to track you down. In all likelihood, you will be in for a multi hour fight and could easily end up several miles from where you started. Most guys targeting big pelagics from a yak always have a support boat to lend a hand.

@@DieHardFishing a couple more tips. 1) if I were to target bluefin, I’d launch out of Carmel Bay as your best shot at close to shore is probably off Cypress Point. Deep water is just offshore due to Carmel Canyon. 2) you might want to consider trying a kayak/mothership trip out of San Diego with Islander Sportfishing. They typically go to San Clemente Island. Plenty of bluefin down there, not to mention yellowtail, WSB, and big calico bass. You’d have a blast and your subscribers would love it.

I was fishing for Salmon in bolinas 3-4 wks ago and we were warn by one of the kayaker that one of his buddy caught a BFT there where we were fishing and he was darn right bro. I was trolling for salmon and all of sudden a BFT jumped maybe 20 yrds from my right side of my kayak where i was at . It was my first time seeing BFT in the water jumped near me. Too bad i didnt have Gopro or anything but it was beautiful site to see nice shinny one with big Y tail and dark eyes. There were Bait Ball everywhere during those time to so prolly chasing them. It wasnt deep either. 40-50ft. So yeah maybe next time around im gonna bring some heavy set up and try.😁😁
