I had a little more time on my hands than normal, so I ventured into the Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountains to fly fish for native Brook Trout. Always good to explore new water--the scenery and the fish did not disappoint!
Flies that found success today= NOTHING BUT DRY FLIES!!! haha

Great stuff, I'm a former bass guy turned fly fisherman and am still new to the sport but after a couple dozen brookies this winter/spring I'm hooked

Very very nice, more into fall those brook trout will get really really colorful as they start to spawn

Have fished this prong, it’s a fantastic place. In that hole starting at 7:08, a lot of times they’ll stack up along the bigger rock on the right. The current from the fall is faster there, you can throw your dry against the rock and they’ll crush it when it falls in. Awesome video, thank you!

Thanks for taking time to watch and thanks for the tip! I’ll remember to look for that next time for sure. It was a wonderful place to fish and explore and I hope to go back at some point.

Great video and I love this channel! Can you see your feet when walking with that chest pack? I have the cross current and I can’t see my feet and I’m enough of a clutz that it really bothers me. Thanks for sharing sir!

Thank you so much for taking time to watch! Sorry, I somehow missed this comment when originally posted. I don't find that I have much issue seeing where I am walking with my pack. Mine is the Canyon Creek (I believe that's the right name) and may be slightly smaller, but I don't find it to be an issue. I have loved it as an alternative to my typical fishing vest.

Any chance you could tell me where to go to find these Brookies? Headed to GSMNP next week. Thanks!

Thanks for watching! I won’t leave any specific stream names on here, but generally they start to show up above 3000 feet in elevation in most streams or above any natural barriers (think waterfalls) where the rainbows and browns cannot get to. This should give you enough to narrow your search down and find some success. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Beautiful area and some nice brookies. As long as your anywhere in the National Park is a NC fishing license valid in Tennessee as well?
@ColbertOutdoors
@ColbertOutdoors 9 ай бұрын
Thank you! You are correct. A North Carolina license works for Tennessee as long as you are fishing within the National Park.
