I certainly agree with you! A solar water pump for the natural slide if its dry season, the pond/pool - I know it’s at its natural state but even a net in the pond/pool to help filter the landing area of those sliding down (then the rest of the pond/pool can remain at its natural state), grass cleared and a few updates here and there I really do believe it can be revived to its former glory! 🎉 I think I want to visit and see this place for sure and see where to go from there! Thank you Bruce for sharing this video. Keep it up!

Hi Bruce. Thank you for going back and showing us Mermaids Pool. I too spent happy days sliding down the rock and sailing across the water on the foofy slide I was born in Harare, spent several years in the bush of the Zambezi valley and at the base of Mavuradonha mountain beyond Mount Darwin.I then went to school in Harare. My times at Mermaids pool were in the late 50s. So many good memories. I’m now 82. Wish I could go back. Thanks for reviving those memories.

Oh man, this channel is a gem. I'm glad to have come across it and kudos to attempting the bridge walk. I've had issues with heights and struggle to go up high-rise buildings. Triggered my nostalgia. Loved seeing the community and, above all, the civility. Hope something does happen with that pool resort before the vegetation overwhelms it to a point of no return.

Bruce, Harare looks cleaner and safer than Toronto. There is no way in hell I would walk that bridge like you I do not like Heights . The problem is if you get across you have to come back.
@OverlandingwithBruce

Really wow? Yes the problem with that bridge is they are both one way so when you come back you have to do the higher longer one. I couldn’t as much as I wanted to. 😂 Thank you for watching and commenting

The ice cream vendors haven’t changed since 1985! Did you ever have green mamba ice creams from the Dairy Den, or ice cream birthday cakes at Putt Putt? I can’t remember what the ice cream in Coca Cola was called but loved that too. The simple things!
@OverlandingwithBruce

Yes of course. 😂 The coke and ice cream was called “brown cows” . Dairy Den was such a treat to go to. My favorite was an icecream with a flake chocolate bar 😂 Thank you for watching and commenting Brian.

Beautiful country, awesome people with a heart of gold. There are some petty crimes in the congested part of town but nothing violent like SA, Harare is generally safe unless you’re looking for trouble, Every big city in the world has safety issue in certain areas, Harare is much safer than a lot of big cities in the developed world like USA and UK.
