I wish we have these kinds of South Indian food in Malaysia. The Malaysian Indian food originates from South India. Historically, majority of the Malaysian Indians have roots that can be traced back to South India. 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Su-Ling Chia You can find most of this across all indian restaurants in Malaysia,go for banana leaf la. Noodles itself was probabbly introduced to india in the last few decades,so Malaysian Indians history going back to before world wars kind of evoled from Malay + Chinese style noodle cooking. Putu Mayam is different to mee hon though.

Chennai belongs to a state called Tamilnadu. It has century old history of traders from diffrent parts of the world dropping in for trading on various goods. They brought with them their spices, food, culture, tradition.. Enterprising tamil businessmen went to far east countries, carrying their own traditions. So the state has become a melting pot of sorts. There is no Tamil food, or indian food as such, because it changes in every 100 miles with mindboggling variations, twists and turns. Keep an eye on historical facts associated with the place and food while you enjoy this.

There are few videos on Chennai's street food scene and I'm very glad that yours is among the even fewer ones that makes a Chennaite feel this nostalgic. I can't believe that you covered Karpagambal mess. Also dont miss Plantain Pith Stem Soup...which is served along with it..Dont forget to add soup to "Atho" If you have any plans to visit Chennai again, Please don't miss "Atho" Atho is also available in many parts of Chennai, but famous is Parrys 2nd line beach road

Mate, I'm so stoked that you guys are touring South India. I'm from the state of Kerala, now living in Australia. You guys definitely gotta head over to Kerala and try the local street food there. Chennai in Tamil Nadu is predominantly vegetarian and if you are heading over to Hyderabad, it's mostly lamb and mutton. If you want chili beef (the good stuff) and Porotta (the flaky roti bread) you guys definitely need to pop over to Kerala. All the very best for your travels. Be safe and keep up the good work. Lots of love and thumbs up from a fellow Aussie-Indian.

Hi Nitin Toms, thanks so much for watching and we hope you enjoyed the video! Ahhhhh we love Kerala! We were there 6 years ago and are so gutted we didn't make it there on this visit. We will definitely get back there on our next trip though. Looking forward to sampling the chilli beef and porotta! Whereabouts in Australia do you live? Bet you must miss the food from home! We lived in Melbourne for 5 years but are originally from NZ 😄 Hope you like the other content we have coming up in our India series mate. Thanks for taking the time to say hi! Big love back! Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena .. hoping to make a trip down to Chennai this December , then taking the train down through the South reaching Kanyakumari to visit the Vivekanada rock memorial ( off the southern most Tip of India ) . I don’t know if train attendants still come around selling the likes of sambar vadai And hot tea at your very train seat ( absolutely delicious ). im really glad you found these little “gems” of eating spots . One can tell they dish out the best only the locals know about . Perhaps to keep the tourists away :) lol ! Thanks again and please keep more of these great videos coming ! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

That was a mountain of rice indeed. 😳 When I know I'm going to eat all day, I always ask for half rice. Did this many times in Thailand with the street dishes. Got some looks and one cart lady who spoke perfect English said she had never had such a request ever. 😂 Awesome food tour, guys. Everything looked quite tasty. 👍
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
😂 you know what Tosh, that makes so much sense- why has this never crossed my mind before? I think it's because I'm a greedy guts!! That plate weighed a ton! Everything we ate in the video was great- Chennai has such an incredible food culture. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, so happy you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena 😄
@tosht25156 жыл бұрын
I have always been super weird about food waste. People claim this but I’m really a stickler. Easy to take leftovers home or to the office but not so while on the road. In CDMX I accidentally ordered five churros. As soon as they arrived I gave three to the folks next to me. In Portugal where just about everything comes with chips/fries I tried to explain my half request but the servings were always still huge. My Spanish must not be a good as I think. 😀
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 I’m sure your Spanish is brilliant! We abhor food waste too and we 99.9% of the time finish everything we order. Often we’ll have big breaks between filming sections of a video and walk it off- means we get to do a bit of sightseeing at the same time! 😄😆
@tosht25156 жыл бұрын
😂 Yup. My Spanish is way better than my Portuguese. I'm glad you caught that. Watched this terrific video again and I'm still amazed at the seafood. That was a U.S. portion that's for sure. I know you know that the size of food and drink here in the states can be quite ridiculous especially at the thousands of chains and convenience restos.
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂😂 It sure was a U.S sized portion! I remember eating a meal once in San Francisco and only being able to finish a quarter of it 😳 Crazy!!! Thanks so much for watching Tosh- we fell in love with Chennai and its food so had an absolute blast filming the videos. Hope our enthusiasm for the place comes across in the videos and that you enjoy the other 3 we have coming up from here. Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Sheena
