Love you guys! You’ve been such sunshine through so many lockdowns. I was born in the Philippines, grew up in Australia and now live in France which is not a bad place to be if you like eating, but restaurants here have been closed since October, though they will start to open for outdoor dining next week. I like to think I’m an ok home cook but would love a meal cooked by someone else for a change! Would love to see more of your own home cooking series since I guess it’s still hard for you to travel. Sheena, you’re a real food diva, you’re so intrepid and you seem to have an amazing talent for languages! Count me as a fan.

This is such a lovely message to receive! Thanks so much for your kind words Josephine and for watching our videos 😄 Everyone must be looking forward to hospitality opening up again- eating out is such an intrinsic part of French culture- it must feel very strange indeed. So glad to hear you enjoyed the home cooking series! We may revive it one day 🤗 the videos didn’t do very well so we decided to can it but we do, film cooking content regularly for our patrons. Thanks so much for your support and enjoy your first meal out in many months next week Josephine! Hope you like what we have coming up on the channel 😄 Cheers, Sheena

My first Sri Lankan meal was a fantastic Chicken curry, from a place a few blocks past Dominian Rd,heading towards New Lynn,a small place on the right beside a side street. They make the best curries, their gravies are so good, not so thick, and you can taste every spice they put in,man this makes me miss Auckland so bad.

I love the fact you tried Sri Lankaan food - its where my family comes from and it looked like a really great representation - but I would sell my soul for a hopper! :-) - I do love them! -- Sri Lanka is also known for Mackeral curry, chicken curry, pork curry - you really should try those! Cutlets are really big in Sri lanka but I grew up (in the UK) with meat cutlets (basically beef mince with onions, green chillies and spices mixed into the same balls...soooo hungry now!) :-) ooh and don't forget the patties.... they are something else - very special snack mince, onions, potatoes, green tomatoes in a sweetened pastry - amazing - but do take a long time to make - but so worth it! You also missed out on the dahl (called parippu in Sri Lanka)! - How come both of you travel to so many countries eating so much food and you still manage to stay slim - I eat a slice of bread and put on 5lbs - its just not fair!

*lump rice* - Just one tuna croquette isn’t really fair is it? 😀 *chicken satay rice* - I gotta admit that I’d be shocked if I ordered that without knowing how it’s presented but as long as it’s tasty, no prob. Sounds delish. *sisig* - I’m a fan of raw eggs on steamed rice, hot pasta, steak tartare and as a dip for sukiyaki. I’d definitely love it on a sizzling plate of sisig. 👍 *Awesome episode, y’all!*

Sisig is really supposed to be ate with raw egg. Also when you eat halo-halo, you should really mix it well for you to get the real taste of it coz the ingredients and the sugar are at the bottom. And the translation of the word "halo" in english is mix. That's why you have to mix it well before you eat it. You know you're eating it right when the liquid turns purple because of the ube. That means you've mixed it well enough

Getting through the shells of seafood is fun when you are in the right mood but a bit of a chore when you aren’t. Combining flavour, effort and cost, prawns are my pragmatic favourite seafood. When you are in the right mood to crack some shells though, crab is king.

😂 Thomas wholeheartedly agrees with you on the crab front Stephen! Which suits me just fine because it means most of the time I get to stuff myself silly 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting mate! Cheers, Sheena
