This episode reminded me of how it was when I was building cars. 2 guys in the back yard working some, drinking some, talking some. And BS alot.

Having a dedicated camera woman sets this show apart from many others. Always at the right place at the right time. Close up or far away, Jolene brings the show to life. It is as if we were there.

Weld a top plate to all the gussits and weld the plate all around its edges. The top plate needs to be made up of 3 pieces so each gusset is welded to the top plate. The top plate will stop the gusset from buckling and collapsing

The radiator hose kept the tube from coming out of the frame. Just my opinion. When I was in structural drafting the engineers taught me that a triangle is the absolute strongest shape there is. So, the original connection of the wishbones made a triangle and you changed to a rectangle. Most likely strong enough, but not as strong as it was.

@@matthewoneill3229 Sorry, you feel that way, Matthew. This was not something that Chad does everyday. He has to analyze the situation and come up with what will work. If it doesn’t work the first time, he must try something else. And remember he is under a lot of pressure being on camera with thousands watching. That’s why I commented the way I did.

Jim's absolutely right to look at the loads each wheel can put on that transverse spring. Look at the size of the cross member it was originally fitted with and you get an idea of how strong your bracket needs to be. .

Triangle gussets are strong in tension but when placed in compression like you are doing they will buckle. You need to put a plate across the tops of them to make them strong.
