It's not sad at all. It's the way to go. Anyone who has ever made anything knows it has to get really bad before it starts getting better. A million times preferable to an architectural masterpiece crumbling under botchery and neglect. Well done!

It's funny how former owners come back and then are upset that changes are made. My friend bought a house and tore up carpeting, replacing it with beautiful wooden floors. The previous owner stopped by and was angry! I can't wait to see the upcoming plans come to fruition! Could you please do updates more often, as time permits? Even if it's just about sourcing materials! Merci! ❤❤❤

Your obstinacy in restoring the castle's original appearance is understandable. I have seen a jewel of rationalist architecture that belonged to my family disappear under successive restorations and monstrous adaptations. In my case, unfortunately, I can only recover that beautiful house that comes to my mind again and again in my childhood memories. Congratulations on your efforts.

I very much appreciate your detailed explanations of what needs to be done to the meticulous restoration of the chateau and why the work is necessary. Not only is your taste flawless,your understanding the foundation and bones of a house must be correct before any decoration should be applied. On the staircase - is that called an entrelac balustrade? I suddenly remembered that from 50 years ago but I'm not sure I'm correct. And what a wonderful job you are doing!
@williamfahey6066Минут бұрын
I find all of this very interesting. I remember you mentioning the column in an earlier video, that it is not original to the house and that it had to be put in because of work that had been done to keep the Staircase and the Chateaux from moving or collapsing, or something like that. It is really nice to see one of your new videos, I look forward to seeing more of them in the future. Jeff❤

So strange! Our main house is now being gutted and renovated by my niece. Lots of brick has been taken down and cleaned. The site looks like a bomb has gone off. Yet somehow it is opened up and made more beautiful. I live in a studio out back, and me and my dog Roscoe are enjoying the process. Hopefully the “home place “ will be renewed in a few months. We understand your situation completely, except that you are way above our situation.

Restoration is very difficult. So much of the work is about structural integrity that no one will see, but it's essential for the long-term health of the chateau. It will be worth it, even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment.
